Would like to hear the club come out and say Clark is a required player and will not be going anywhere.
Unless I have missed it, that hasn't happened which makes me think they are shopping him around and
effectively hanging him out to dry. Which is a pretty shameful way to treat a young talented player who
has been through the mill in the past two seasons for reasons beyond his control. There is a lot to hate about
this time of the year and the way the game is going.
We have no idea what's going on so its a big call to sink the boots into the club

Why can't we take 5-6 in the draft?

As an example, in 2020 Collingwood took 8 draft picks then 2 more in the mid-season draft. Most of them were pick 30 or later (like rookie draft).

Ollie Henry - going ok, about to ask for a trade
Finlay Macrae - played a few games, not sure
Reef McInnes - played a few games, not sure
Caleb Poulter - played a few games, not sure
Liam McMahon - just delisted
Beau McCreery - pretty important in their prelim side
Jack Ginnivan - pretty important in their prelim side
Isaac Chugg - just delisted

Ash Johnson - played in a prelim
Aiden Begg - played a couple of games, not sure

A couple of hits, jury still out on a bunch, a couple of misses.

The more picks you have, the more chances you have to get players that surprise you.
The patriots have been trading back for years favouring more picks over early picks. I think it’s a great strategy when you’re competing and are just looking to add pieces. Now they’re in a different phase it’s hurting them Imo, it will be interesting to see what they do after this season.

Could the Saints use Hunter / Hill and 12 to chase pick 1 from North?

Reality is Hill is more of a salary dump and list reset than trading for a top pick.

Pick 1 might need all three.

Is Wardlaw / Sheezel / Cadman worth that?
Have to be trolling?

Yeah the Hoskin-Elliott price, feels likely to me though I hope he's worth more than that. Maybe a later pick this year as well.
How many times have you said 'the Hoskin Elliot price' in the last 8 days. It's really cringe. We get it... You think Hunter is similar skill level.

LDU is the one in Hunters ear getting him across.
Yep and Nasiah is getting JHF across to us.

Honestly the amount of shit talked is insane. One mention by Edmund of how the future second "might" be involved for Clark and your board is popping champagne corks. Oh and Clark knew LDU is primary school so he'll be going there for sure.

How can you not love the trade period. Richmond, Brisbane, collingwood etc all load up while we fight it out for the scraps. Now we can generously take on any mistakes they’ve made via salary dumps, who said equalisation isn’t working.
It’s pretty ****ed up, even looking at the compo we just received, ultimately it’s just screwing over who ever we have to trade with, as the currency isn’t that great.
I’m sure there’s been background talks to see who we were capable of getting, then giving us nothing to what the players in question are worth, with the afl saying figure it out and be competitive in the process.

So second round could be involved. So they will be packaging up some picks. Because a future second is well unders
Best to look at it realistically to see the issue with this equation.

We are trading out someone who is very talented and part of our shallow midfield.

For a pick in a draft 12 months away that is at best pick 19/20.

Whilst the north board is indeed celebrating. They are clearly missing the part where Edmund says “could be involved” and the actual issue in the equation is - what’s the value in it for the saints?

Edmund said Norths second rounder likely to be "part of the trade" for Clark so you are right. I am surprised and not surprised at what North received. If you were GC, you would have got far better but something tells me the AFL doesn't care if North flounders with the goal being Tassy.

Your getting 2 draft picks more than the Saints got for all their decades of failure

I think you’re on the money.
The only positive is we’ve got no debt and 50k members this year, when we finished last, it’ll make that move very hard.
The afl would effectively have to try and kill us.

One of our best 22 family member told me that Clark was surprised and upset to find out the club might look to trade him as he loves the club and wants to stay.

Interesting. Not saying that is false at all, but certainly seems pretty odd.

It concerns me that Clark is 24 at the start of next year and still has had almost no AFL midfield experience.

He needs to make it as a mid, otherwise he is really not that useful. Whilst he is creative, he does get exposed defensively.

Perhaps the club thinks he doesn't have the work ethic to make it as a mid. Whilst our club is prone to doing very dumb things, there has to be some sort of explanation as to why they would want to move on a talented bloke in the right age bracket.

Wouldn’t be unlike the AFL, would it.

Unlike Fitzroy who couldn't squeeze a cent out of the AFL i think you are very safe as long as you keep your finances in the green.
