So from what i read our supporters on BF don't like Schache, yet a club like Melb who finished 5th think his worth trading for,BF perception you got to love it.

I think we need either Schache or Weid otherwise King goes alone again & with the 5th interchange on board you can carry the extra big man.

Do we not have faith in Sharman, would expect him to improve a good chunk this year if he is played. We have a pretty solid group of bigs with King, Membrey, Sharman, and Hayes/ Heath spreading the ruck-fwd role.

I think we could use another big body to take some load off Max and Hayes is coming back from a knee (look at Bruce this year).

Weideman seemed a decent option if hed come cheap. Lobb a more expensive version but neither is interested in us.

Schache aint the guy for me but i thought Cordy was a strange choice. I actually dont really get what the strategy was in this years period other than "do nothing and focus on what weve got".

Schache looked pretty good at CHB. He could be a Paddy McCartin like revelation with proper coaching.

That said, St Kilda don't need a player for that role with all of Howard, Battle, Coffield and Highmore on the list. Not to mention the Sharman experiment.

Thats 2 proven forwards. One injury to either King or Membrey leaves us with the worst collection of forwards in the comp.

Dogs have said they wouldnt accept 21 and a future first so i dont see how they can make Dunkley happen at all.

Based on what they have (and assuming they dont get Dunkley done) they have 3319 points and if Fletcher is pick 18 they need 3985 (assuming Ashcroft gets nommed at 1).

So with no Dunkley they still need a 600 point deficit to get both f/s (and some are talking about Fletcher now being closer to 10 than 20).

If they use 21 in some deal for Dunkley they have 2441 points and need to go into a deficit of 1500... surely thats not allowed.

If not would the afl let the Lions go into deficit that much 1400?

Yes like i said if we wait for the perfect trade it will never happen, if we want to look as though we are improving staying with the same bunch of players it won't happen, you need change to generate growth otherwise we are that 8-10 placed side year after year & this discussion will continue next trade period.

Schache shouldn't be considered a key forward though. He's basically a tall flanker with no ability to take a contested mark

So like a crappier version of Mason Wood.

FWIW i get what youre saying and that makes sense to me but the dogs have been very very public in saying they wouldnt cop the original deal for Dunkley (as a benchmark Taranto is a 1 x BnF winner at 24 years old coming off a down year and he cost 12 and 19, Dunkley is a 1x BnF winner at 25 coming off a best year so i get their position).

Sharman isnt really tall enough nor a big enough body to take that 2nd defender reliably. He is more of a 3rd tall replacement for Membrey when he retires in a couple of years.

You could say the same thing about most AFL teams, if someone like Hawkins gets injured then all of a sudden their forwardline looks average with Cameron being the only tall. Our forwardline is fine from a talent point of view, its the coaching/ tactical play that is our weakness.

Heath is yet to put together a string of good games in the VFL. If we are an injury away from him featuring, our options are grim and need added too.

And I think the dogs are playing a very good smart game in regards to dunkley even going back to bevos comments at their bnf but also waiting.
The longer they draw it out the better the potential outcome as Lions need and want dunkley especially after getting belted by Geelong.
Similar to what freo did to us in regards to hill.
Making the Lions sweat creating a fear of losing either Dunkley or Fletcher could make the Lions give up more.. potentially a player on the list that they do not wish to lose.

Honestly though. AFL players are rich and home gyms aren’t really that expensive. Why did they not all come out of lockdowns looking like absolute super heroes?

All we saw was the players making do with beg borrowed and stolen pieces of equipment from the club, trying to work out using one skipping rope and a barbell with no plates.

I’m broke as shit and I had better equipment to work with over lockdown than these elite athletes.

Windy and Owens were 17 year old draftees and bought home gyms to train over lockdown. Owens said that’s all he did, workout. Windy trained so much his back broke.
