They've got a stiffy for Cadman.I think GWS want to move up the draft board. It’s rumoured they have their sights set on pick 1.

It’s easy for the media to put the boots into us. Not that I blame them considering we’ve tread water for a decade.
But we’re not as bad as they make out. We win two more games and we’re in the finals. We’ve got a fairly young list that should improve and we’re committing to the draft while also going after free agents.
We’re making off-field appointments that should make us better too.
Higgins?? He’s 22! The same age as coffield and Clark who get the “let them have time to develop” excuse. Higgins was on track to be all Australian this year before his concussions. He already plays a role in our team that no one else can replace. No one on our list around that age not named Max King has that sort of a claim to a position in our 22.If argue that trading/sighting of Jones/Crouch/ Hannebery/ Hill, Higgins and too a much lesser extent howard. My issue is that this type of trading pushes the development of younger guys and causes issues with culture. I think whenever we’ve had much longer targeted recruiting we’ve been better. Ie Steele membrey Bruce and they all fitted longer term needs. I think hill we got caught up wanting someone who was avilable. Same as Higgins, jones and Hannebery

Nailed it. We need a top 5 pick and another one in the top 15...another couple in the mid twenties to mid thirties. We have the last 3. Just need the first one.
He got absolutely blasted for that non pass to butler. He nails those type of freak kicks so often though. He’s allowed to back himself. That’s the job of his type of small forward. Eddie betts half of his highlight reel could be considered selfish if they bounced the other way.I'd like it on the record that I think, on top of the concussions, that the "he's just selfish" stuff got to Higgins.
IMO there are two ways Higgins can go: selfish, productive Higgins or non-AFL standard Higgins. I want him hungry for goals. We have others for the pressure and the unselfish stuff, but Higgins is a point of difference in his ability to score himself at that size.
They want Cadman and if Nth get P1& P2 they may take himI think GWS want to move up the draft board. It’s rumoured they have their sights set on pick 1.
Just for interest
GWS currently have picks 3, 12, 15, 19, 44, 61, 63, 79.
As if you wouldn't. He's a guaranteed gun for pick 10, a speculative pick. And he's only 25.
You always seem to be able to find positives in about 17 AFL clubs.

Blake actually used the words 'low balled' in one interview.I heard him getting interviewed, sounds like Freo put up a decent offer but Blake chose to shop himself around because this is the contract that will take him through his most profitable contract. Carlton have apparently been working on getting him over since earlier in the season. Not sure it was Freo just cutting him loose.
If he goes home next year. All port will have to offer is Sinn
The crows will have a first
Agreed. It's easy to take pots at the club, but I really do think they should have defended him more. The media absolutely ripped into Higgins for something that happens from multiple players in pretty much every game. It became an issue that was blown totally out of proportion. The club pretty much agreed with that narrative by saying that it was addressed mid game, rather than doing a full public support of Higgins. It contrasts with Scott, Hardwick, Simpson etc who defend their players publicly to the point that it looks a bit silly.I'd like it on the record that I think, on top of the concussions, that the "he's just selfish" stuff got to Higgins.

Ripe for a club keen to get more picks (eg Us) to use a future 1st to get multiple picks in the teens.Add pick 18 to that clutch of picks.
So they now have 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19. Five picks into the top 20.
It’s a joke. They just photocopy early picks from one trade period to the next. I can see them offloading several of those picks.
Maybe we just need to be bold and target some of those picks. In particular pick 19, the first pick of the second night of the draft.
Clubs will have digested what happened on the first night and that pick will hold a lot of currency, especially in the futures market. But that pick may also allow a gun to be drafted who has slipped through the first round.
I would be happy with GWS picks #12 & #19 for Hunter Clark?PLAYERCARDSTART11Hunter Clark

You can love something and want the best for them. You guys would be bringing your 32 year old son breakfast in bed and telling him you'll get your pension cheque out of the bank so that he could go and get pissed instead of looking for a job. I'd kick the campaigner up the arse and slap his ear.
2019 we won 9 games
2020 we won 10 games Finals 6th
2021 we won 10 games 10th
2020 we won 11 games 10th
2022 we have 5 or 6 x A graders
Steele
Marshall
Wilkie
Sinclair
King
Perhaps Crouch
A graders are the players who will win their position week in week out
We need more A graders and there are arguably more A graders up for this trade period than in recent years
Taranto
Degoey
Dunkley
Grundy
Jackson
Hopper
Whitfield
Haynes
Mitchell
We are instantly a better team with any of these players
And a plethora of former 1st round picks
Henry
Bruhn
Horne-francis
Bowes
Clark
Other clubs are adding not only high end talent but high draft picks
Brisbane
Dunkley
Ashcroft
Fletcher
And have traded a B grade player in Mcstay
Geelong
Bowes
Henry
Bruhn
pick 7 Jyhe Clark
So far we have Cordy and pick 32
I would have thought with our president saying he is sick of mediocrity its actions not words etc we would have come out firing this trade period.
Perhaps, and my thoughts are we thought we had degoey signed
I think it's highly likely he may have used our interest to leverage collingwood and judging by the comments of his manager it seems very likely
But did we have a plan B if we didn't get him???
And is our 2022 trading strategy on the back foot this trade period?
There are still 6 days left for this trade period still plenty of time to increase our draft position and acquire some A grade talent
But we aren’t having a rebuild. That line of thinking is just wrong. And I don’t really see what’s confusing about our strategy. We missed out on De Goey, who was the type of player we need, but there aren’t many other realistic targets. So we go back to the draft hopefully with two first round picks.I think they're talking more from the fact that we are treading water in no mans land and the others around us have made drastic list changes so look like they will be moving ahead quicker. We look a bit like we had one target that fell over but then if that didn't work we are going to the draft as our only way forward. I guess it's a bit of a confusing strategy from the outside. Having a rebuild if we can't get one player that all hopes were pinned on soy of vibes.
All we have to fall back on now is coaching and internal improvement which with less under 23 players than most other clubs looks less likely. The off field appointments look better than anything else we've done recently, Walsh particularly. He's saying all the right things about pushing the club forward.

Send back 32 and 47. Or send those to Brisbane for 25 and send that. That values Clark the same as Taranto.
