Maybe we have an opportunity to finally stop with clutching on to one player. Why do we do it?
It takes a team people.
Oh ye of little faith.
Give yourselves a slap and move forward.

Absolutely s**t news about the wonder boy sam Walsh. Heartbreaking really but this is why we recruited Cerra and Hewett!
Even Williams might now have more stints in the midfield. With a better defensive structure and focus on the contest we shouldn’t need to stress so much.
Don’t forget patrick cripps has done a full preseason so far
TIME FOR THE BULL TO RETURN
ITS CRIPPA TIME BABY!
Bring out the red panties 🤪

Exit: Walsh
Enter: Carrol
Carrol was very impressive last year, in the VFL. He looks ripped now and he does excite me. Probably more of an inside-mid than Walshy. Big chance that Jack could play every game and go on to win the Rising Star imo.
Really looking forward to the second half of the season. Just imagine that this is the last injury for the year and Walsh comes back, add Cunners run and polish in about May. Of course by this time the player's will be more used to Vossys game plan as well. Marchy is another one, who if everything goes well, could potentially get back to his very best.

We can be excited about the promise of Stocker and Kennedy but if we are talking about a spot in the midfield, Matty is miles ahead of both going into this season.

Stocker looks really promising but has played very little for us in the middle. Kemp is a complete unknown at this stage. Kennedy's back half of last season was excellent, however.
Plus Kennedy is a great link man through the middle of the ground, he has the ability to find space in the guts to become the receiver for the inboard kick, which going from match sim reports will be a big part of our game plan, has great hands and ability in a marking contest and the nous to either kick to a forwards advantage or hit the quick handball to a Saad, Stocker, Williams type player running past.

Cripps, Cerra, Hewett and Curnow will have to take on the lion's share of midfield responsibility until Walsh returns.

Putting Dow, Williams or Setterfield in a position where they have to deliver energy, consistency, running and physicality each week in the midfield has me worried. Would love to be proven wrong though.

Dow, Setters and Carrol - would love one of these to step up.
I feel Setters is in for a big year, everyone has written him off
Yeah Setters was cruelled by injuries and role changes by Teague in 2021, had a very good 2020 and was the second most improved player in the AFL statistically playing as an inside mid, not a wing, let’s hope Voss can get the best out of him playing midfield as I still think he has plenty of upside to become a key player for us.

Would love to see him do some extra work like sprint training, similar to what Harry has done, to try and improve his first few steps from the contest to give himself some space to dispose properly under less pressure.

Setters need to be less invisible if he’s going to have an impact this season. Opportunity is there, but will he step up..?
i did hear last year he had a persistent groin complaint. that kind of thing saps strength and power through the legs. no idea how trustworthy it was.

Setters is a ball hunter, Teague took that away by playing him on the wing…

If Voss lets him run he could be a gun, just risky if he gets burnt going the other way…

He's a better two-way runner than most of our inside mids.

Just seems to have lost a bit of his burst and confidence.

IMO It's all too convenient to lay the blame for Setters struggles at the feet of Teague and co.
For whatever reason was timid around the contest and fumbled a hot footy, neither are traits that anyone desires in an inside mid & would hardly encourage anyone to put him inside - maybe a change in coaches will be the reset that he needs to get things back on track but ultimately it's up to him to get the best from himself.
