Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

Some discussion now that the club may take Curtin if Duursma is unavailable.

He plays like a taller Jordan Dawson – an extremely smooth mover with a weapon of a kick. There are some queries around whether he’s a tall flanker but I believe his natural athleticism lends itself to an offensive CHB. He’s got a reasonable frame as well unlike Denver. With Blanck as a pure stopper taking the physical beasts, I don’t think it’s a stretch for Curtin to be developed as an offensive CHB that can intercept and start attacking chains.

This is also discounting potential midfield capabilities like Dawson, but given our strength in that area I believe we're better off developing him as a defender.

We don't need anymore tall half backs to be fair.

Not keen on a homesick kid from WA either now.
Who said he'd be homesick? Feel that's just a scare tactic from WC so North don't take him.

That said, I was on the Curtin train a month or two ago, but now feel we can't go past Duursma or Watson if they're available. Watson would have the added bonus of spiting Dogs for pulling out of the Smith deal.

If WC keep pick 1, they're taking Reid. North may be gunshy about picking an interstate kid after JHF, so let's say they go for Duursma and McKercher.

Which leaves Curtin at our pick. The best rated KPD in the draft, who is already a decent size. Sounds bloody good to me.

100% we need KPP. no ifs or buts.
outside of that a explosive small.
Yep.

It’s been stated ad nauseum, we’re are after KPPs.

Whether it’s trading them in our drafting them in, they are our priority.

No exploding smalls required.

Do we pass on Curtin with McCabe coming in? Or are they different style of players? Even if Curtin has told clubs he views himself as a mid in future there is also a chance he stays in defense.
McCabe is more of an interceptor and rebounder, he has terrific speed and leap but lacks the frame to really lock horns one-on-one.

Curtin is a good defender, maybe even a great defender, and he has the frame to compete in the air and one-on-one. He moves really well for a kid with his strength and size, but the core of his game is still in his bodywork and marking as well as his distribution. He'd be a good midfielder, but his strengths lend themselves to being a great CHB as well as a good midfielder.

I've seen Curtin play as a midfielder. Doesn't add much to what we already have, there's no hussle or breakaway speed and strength, just gets close to the stoppages and tries to handball quickly , not bad at ground level for his size but wouldn't be banking on him becoming a inside beast in the short term. No need for a rebound defender either in our list so, if he's prepared to hone his craft as a CHB then I'm in but other than that we need to look at other options.
Incredible and sad how year on year, there's less top end talent in the draft for kpp's.

Spot on. Take the most talented fwd. Duursma or Wiz - whoever is there.
