Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

A few that I’ve seen mentioned by other posters and have been keeping track of their stats:
  • Ryan Maric (Gippsland)
  • Toledo Gladman (Dandenong)

Have also seen Indi Kirk (brett kirks son) who’s playing for Sydney academy and I’d assume is eligible.
Kirk would only be 18 so i don’t think he’d be available unless

A) he nominated for last yrs draft
B) he’s no longer in swans academy

If he was still in their academy but as a mature age (19) then he’d be available.

I believe he was eligible last year and went undrafted but still playing at their academy as a mature ager.

My favourites for the mid-season draft (of those I've seen):

Jed Rule - 195cm - 19yo - Key Position Utility
He's a tall, strong-marking swingman who's incredibly clean at ground level and a physical presence at contests. Played as a Weddle-type medium defender playing on talls and smalls. If he gets a good run up forward and shows he can be a marking target I see no reason we don't back our system and bring him in, especially if there isn't a standout performer elsewhere around the country. Get him in under Mitch Lewis to learn to build his efforts up the ground and get involved in the build up.

Noah Gown - 194cm 95kg - 24yo - Key Forward
A more mature version of Rule, Noah has had a blinding start to his time at Sandringham in the VFL. He's put the work in to build his fitness after an injury-riddled and disappointing few seasons at the Bombers and Williamsport. He still needs to refine his kicking and take his chances, both in the air and for goal, but if we wanted a more mature presence to tide the side over until we got a true superstar he would be far from a bad option.

Jovan Petric - 196cm 90kg - 19yo - Key Forward
A smokey from the draft just past, Petric is exciting and deadly as a marking option. He's filled out his frame a bit, and if he keeps getting bags for the Jets he would be one to look out for. I think there are better options for my liking, He is a stock-standard tall forward who knows his leading patterns and marking mechanics. He's another who would need to build his work up the ground to really set himself apart, right now he's a stay-at-home target where I would rather someone who can present an option for the outlet. If you watch a replay of a Carlton game, you'll see McKay and Curnow pushing up and giving an option to link up through the guts. Jed and Gown have shown signs of it, I don't think I've seen enough of it from Jovan yet to prefer him over them.

Ziggy Toledo-Glasman - 192cm 82kg - 19yo - Key Forward
The other side of the coin to Petric, Ziggy should be drafted on name alone. As a player, he's an agile and smart CHF that has the tank to work up the ground, and the football acumen to put up big games. For how well he works up the ground, he doesn't get his hands on it that much, but his presence is often enough to get the ball to ground and let his teammates push it forward. He's as mercurial as you can get as a tall forward, he'll have brilliant games and others where it just doesn't click for him, but when he's on he can turn the tide on his own shoulders. His measurements look a bit out of date, he'd be closer to 194 and 85 if I had to guess, but he still needs to build into a proper key forward frame. High upside, and a good option, but not someone I'd expect to come into the side right away.

Kobe Ryan - 184kg 75cm - 19yo - Midfielder
I know we don't need another mid, but Kobe's production this season cannot be ignored. Playing through the midfield and around the half-back and half-forward line for the SANFL, Ryan has averaged 21.5 disposals on 98% Disposal Efficiency. He's a machine around the ground, providing second and third efforts to win the ball up and down the ground. He's a natural footballer with great production and damaging disposal, and he should get picked up if he continues this form, but he isn't really what we need. Still, a worthwhile prospect to keep an eye on, you can never have too many good, versatile, midfielders.

It's still too early to make a call, but we should be able to pick up a solid option up forward to replace Kozi, even if it is just a speccie prospect we can develop at Box Hill. Rule or Toledo-Glasman would be my preference at the moment, but if there's a standout prospect like Jai Culley we will have a good few options at a second pick (should we have one available).

Thoughts on Ryan Maric?

We desperately need another key forward. We will likely have a plethora of draft picks in this years national draft. I don’t see the point in going after another midfielder.

If Jed Rule can impact games for Box Hill during the first half of the VFL season, then he might be a chance for the last list spot.

I don’t get the Ryan snub in last years draft. He’s basically dominated every level he’s played, now league football and still lightly built. He was mocked top 10 for first part of la day year. He’s a jet. Interesting. Then again I thought the same with that Maher the year before.

Thoughts on Ryan Maric?
He's more of a half-forward, he gets plenty of the footy in places to score and converts well. But for what we need, we already have CMAC X2, Moore, Worpel, even Brockman and Butler as players who can play up the ground. If he keeps scoring and presents as a strong option he'll get picked up, but for us I'd rather a flyer on a high upside youngster or a proven forward target.

Thoughts on Ryan Maric?
Was a standout in Round 1 and backed it up with a solid game Round 3. Will be watching to see if he can go up another level next week against the Pioneers.

Anybody knows if this will be in Foxtel ?

A feature of the upcoming camp will be the AFL Academy playing an exhibition match as a curtain-closer to the Round 5 AFL game between the Brisbane Lions and North Melbourne at Adelaide Hills (Summit Sports and Recreation Park, Mount Barker) on Saturday, April 15.

An opponent will be confirmed shortly.

I don't think Fox would pick it up given there's an AFL game on afterwards, but it might be on Kayo like the Nat Champs.

Apparently this Shaun Mannagh from Werribee is just a jet. Have a go at his stats! He’s 25 and only 175cm, but is a level above VFL obv. Also won BOG in Ovens and Murray league GF. We need a key forward but you can’t really find decent Key Fwd in MSD, really need to invest in them with high picks in draft to get a good one.

I'm pretty content with this years draft.

Finish last, we get Harley Reid.
Finished second last, we get an elite tall which badly is a positional need.
I haven't seen a lot of vision but I am not sure - at this stage - if the talls are really at the top of the pile.

Curtin looks uber talented but he honestly could end up a mid with his skill set.

Caddy is more lead and mark.

Haven't seen enough of Archer Reid.

It will be interesting to see after the champs where the talks sit and if someone elevates themselves into that top 3 picture.

I reckon top 3 will be H. Reid, D. Curtin, A. Reid

Players of these sizes/abilities don't grow on trees

Edit: just saw Davo-27's top 50 rankings - his top 10 is:

1. Harley Reid
2. Daniel Curtin
3. Archer Reid
4. Jed Walter
5. Ashton Moir
6. Nick Watson
7. Koltyn Tholstrup
8. Jack Delean
9. Harvey Johnston (Sand)
10. Nate Caddy

Which of those 10 are talls Smish?

1. Harley Reid
2. Daniel Curtin 195cm
3. Archer Reid 203cm
4. Jed Walter 194cm

5. Ashton Moir
6. Nick Watson
7. Koltyn Tholstrup
8. Jack Delean
9. Harvey Johnston (Sand)
10. Nate Caddy 191cm

Caddy as a tall is debatable, I think more a third tall
