Same rule applies to this thread as other years, keep it on topic about the kids.
Don’t get bogged down on what other teams might do or where they will finish.

Trade speculation belongs here.

That's also where you can discuss your mock drafts or pick trades.

Any McCabe, Dear or Maginness talk belongs here.

I reckon if you stack up say; Reid vs Moir, Caddy, Watson…the club would take the later I reckon
Club needs: kpf
If club takes smallest kid in the draft (or close to) this board will melt harder then it did in 2004 when buckenarra passed on Richard Tambling to take some ranga kid named Roughead. 😂

Agree. A Reid is the real deal. When was the last time 2 players with the same surname went top 5?
Can’t say when it happened but it came really close to happening in 2004. Buckenarra almost read out the player number for the wrong lance franklin. Corrected himself before completing the selection. Had he not picked up on his error the real lance franklin would have gone at 6 immediately after the imposter at pick 5 😂

Moir could be anything and so could caddy. My point is 3 top liners for Reid like that would be pretty tempting

I thought he actually did call out Luke Franklin but luckily they let him fix his error.

Not much news floating around on the mid season, only things of note are below.

Looks like Collingwood is really prioritising the mid season by signing a number of players to look at, wonder if theirs any smoke and mirrors now going on at all clubs - sign the kids and if they look good at training hide them or play them in off positions

MID-SEASON DRAFT WATCH
The Devils have two players they believe can press their claims for the mid-season draft in Heath Ollington and Mitch Nicholas after both have shown improvement over the off-season. Ollington has added five kilograms of muscle to his frame and will spend more time up forward after spending time as an inside midfielder last year – his standout game of 34 disposals, 22 contested possessions and 198 SuperCoach points showing his potential. An outstanding pre-season for Nicholas has seen him shave time 30 seconds off his 2km time trial and he is tipped to spend more time through the midfield in 2023.

Mid-Season Draft Watch
High-leaping defender Rye Penny trained with Collingwood over the summer during the supplemental selection period and is set to play the first month of the season as he eyes the mid-season draft. Penny showcased his stunning athleticism at the 2022 state combine with a record-equalling 89cm standing vertical jump and a 104cm running vertical jump.
Last year’s best-and-fairest winner Declan Wilsmore will also return to the Cannons as a 19-year-old after an impressive finish to last season as a midfielder. His vertical leap and contested marking are his standout attributes.

Mid-Season Draft Watch
Clay Tucker
attracted club interest as a rookie pick last year and will feature for the Ranges as a 19-year-old.
The 204cm ruckman has also signed with Box Hill Hawks in the VFL.
Eastern also has defender-midfielder Harry Flynn, who sat out most of his draft year with an ACL injury he suffered in his Ranges debut back in 2021.

Key forward Matthew Aldous is another over-age prospect who will stake his claim for mid-season draft selection in the first month of the season.

Played footy with Heath, was a very very good player.

He was very much like Seth Campbell (drafted by Richmond) and Lachie Cowan (Carlton.)

Played with Seth, and against Cowan and they were 3 of the best players in our league.

He's a super strong inside mid, with good explosive speed, he's elite above his head, super smart, great 1on1 deep forward, pretty good kick. Good size at 190cm and as mentioned gained a fair bit of muscle over the off-season, was quite lean when i played with him.

Could be someone like Will Setterfield, but better forward.

Clay Tucker is a serious mid season draft prospect. Very impressive today against Northern.

I watched most of the u17 futures game last night and a few that caught my eye

Daniel Curtin - kid's a bit of a jet. Especially with ball in hand. He plays like an overlapping HBF when his team has the ball and has elite skill. Breaks lines, has good top end speed but doesn't look explosive (long strider). Read the ball in flight well and intercepted a fair bit. Looks to have a great vertical. One negative for me was that he doesn't come across as overly aggressive with his spoiling efforts. He could have killed a few high balls in packs but didn't.

McKercher - didn't get a lot of it or anything but just had great agility, speed and movement around the packs. Really zippy type like Zach merret. He looks a player.

Logan morris- bit undersized for a KPF but is smart and has good hands. Got shots on goal.

Jed Walter - GCS academy. He's didn't perform well but you could see the traits. Has lots of power. Similar to Curnow in that KPF role. Lacks polish.

Duursma - all class. He plays a bit like Olli Henry above his head but has genuine midfield ability and class and composure. He will be right in our mix as a general forward I think. A touch of James Hird about him)

Just some I noticed. I really wanted to have a look at Curtin and he was very intriguing.

Wonder if Declan is related to our mate Dallas

A Stingrays draft bolter could be Ziggy Toledo-Glasman, a mobile forward who caught the eye late in the season after playing a senior game at Mt Eliza in the MPNFL.

“He’s actually been talked about a fair bit in the last couple weeks by clubs,” Cox said.

“He’s a developing tall, he missed a lot of footy through injury…he’s showed some real glimpses at 195cm, quite mobile, kicks goals, hits the scoreboard.

“He showed a bit in the last few games when he went up the ground and did a bit more. He’s been talked about as a possible late rookie as well.”

Ziggy kicked 6 today 👌

It will he really interesting to see where he goes in the draft - how much will his size hold him back?
Don’t let the height concern you. He’s got some good hops for his size and is very good aerially. Really good on his left foot. Generally makes decisions and for the most part he loves involving his teammates in the game. There are times when he burns teammates but he gets the job done. #2………Daylight #3?

His height will be a relevant factor for clubs and will almost certainly see him drafted lower than his performances would warrant. Might just mean a club gets a great bargain
