melksham is the classic case of an average player performing in a good team

hes done enough to hold his spot etc but he isnt a huge loss lol

He was playing good footy & gave them a different look. Good mark on the lead & kick on goal. Not irreplaceable but he’s def a loss.

It has long been established on this board that he makes them a 4 goal better player. Ignore at your peril

How is this the obvious double.

Gimme Melbourne against these pretenders
Melbourne are a worse team this year than they were last year - and they went out in straight sets last year.

Only difference is the two teams sitting 5th and 6th are weaker this year, lessening the chances of it happening again.

But they are the true pretenders.

Collingwood and Brisbane are GF bound.

This is rubbish.
Whole top 8 barring the Saints is pretty even this year

Brisbane at 6th last year was much stronger than St Kilda and that is who you get in week 2 if you lose a QF (5th or 6th).

So you believe Melbourne are travelling better than they were last year?

They're about the same as last year, there's no dominant team like Geelong this year though so it's all relative.

Dees stack up as well as any team on the metrics that matter for this season and tbf there are no pretenders besides Saints maybe.

Bris 22 are better than StK 23 yes but this doesn't matter as the gap between the teams this year is so much closer.
If Carlton win in week 1 then they'll be a coin flip to beat the loser which shows the evenness.

I know the running joke on Melksham 4 goal better side is classic haha but if you've watched dees games this year he's clearly in our most valuable 8 or so players... been better than average and will be a huge loss

yeah melk loss is ******* huge, the dees forward line is already chaotic with weird different parts melksham literally is their best pure forward (bar fritsch)
