My only problem with the trade is no matter how good Reid can be, I don't think our list has enough young depth to give up 3 very good young players for 1. Unless we really don't rate the talent later

3 first round picks is too much for mine. Of course if Reid is the greatest player ever then with hindsight we’ll all be loving it.

But there’s nothing to say Reid won’t be a Matt Rowell or David Swallow or Jesse Hogan (or worse) or, his career is ruined by injuries. With 3 first rounders, I’d back in Taylor to pick at least one absolute star and another very good player.

You’ve also got to factor in that there’s other ways we could trade up to improve - other clubs would be desperate to get 1 so we could easily end up with 2 top 5s or even 3 top 12s.

Which games are the suns winning outside north?
The Suns have beaten three teams currently in the top 8, plus Richmond and Adelaide. And they almost knocked us off.

I realise that you are pathologically pessimistic but surely you can see that the argument which says they’ll probably win at least one other game aside from North against Brisbane, Carlton, Sydney (away), and Adelaide (away) is less incredulous than you thinking Freo will beat three of Brisbane, Port, West Coast, Geelong (away) and Hawthorn (away) and go past GC who are a game and 4% ahea of them.

I’m not pessimistic here you just always overrate the suns. Freo will beat north and eagles then the hawks game is 50/50

Yeah so in this case just need Suns to pick up a random win somewhere and as long as they beat North Freo are locked into 15th.
The real shame is that our loss to Freo likely ends up meaning that they’re two games ahead of Hawthorn going into R24, and Hawthorn have no chance of going past them and getting us pick 3. But then again you never know with the Hawks. They’ve got the Saints, Pies, Dogs and us before then and given their proclivity for pulling off upsets under Clarko and Mitchell I reckon they’re a chance in all four of those game. Freo have the percentage advantage though and probably get a good boost against the Eagles. Hopefully they get blitzed at KP and/or by Brisbane and Port at home.

We shot ourselves in the foot by not beating Freo, but can't change history let's hope Freo don't win another game.

If we get pick 3 back for Jackson as well as whatever last year’s pick was and pick 21 this year I will die of mirth

The difference between pick 4 and pick 5 is only 150 points, which is ultimately the only thing that matters to the Suns.

Regardless I have them winning at least another three. Wouldn’t be surprised if they get up this week. Dockers are only beating WC for certain and maybe the Hawks at the MCG. They’re not beating Geelong, Brisbane and Port
Let the record show I tipped GC against Brisbane. Didn’t see Freo’s win coming though

And we could miss out on Duursma.

At what point do we realise that GAWN is the problem, not our second rucks?

We bring Preuss in with the promise to play second ruck and LIE TO HIS FACE, before catapulting him out of Victoria.

Then the Luke Jackson situation. Spend pick 3 on a generational ruck only to have him leave after winning a flag. DESPICABLE.

Enter Brodie Grundy. As @danster has pointed out, Simon and Max clearly DECEIVE the ALL AUSTRALIAN ruckman only to then drop him all the way out at CASEY.

The common denominator in all of this? Max Gawn. I'll let you join the dots and maybe we need to re-think his position as captain if he continues to make the workplace UNSAFE for second rucks.

Not just me. Damian Barrett, Lloyd and Buckley all agree. The fact that you don't think its true is mind boggling to me. Grundy was sold a vision that never even got off the ground.

And many others in the media are thinking along these lines: "situations change, things happen, Grundy would've known there was some risk it wouldn't work, it was worth a try but might not click..."

Are you saying the club deliberately mislead and lied to Grundy about the role , and if so what's your theory why the club would do that? Or are you saying that we owe it to Grundy to carry out said vision? (even though it might be costing us the chance of winning a flag this year because it wasn't working very well), or are you saying something else and i've missed your point?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. It's not even a theory. it's fact. Grundy was told that he would be the main ruckman and Gawn would be playing more time forward. It never eventuated not even in pre-season.
