Analysis 2023 Draft Watch

Carroll & Wills have been projected late/rookie picks up until now. Even Billy Wilson hasn't really been linked to the 2nd round outside of us.

If we do want one of these 3 I wonder if we trade back to get more points for campos next year as I doubt anyone else takes them within 10 picks of ours? Could probably get the 1st 2 at least with a pick in the 40s.

Interesting the links to Lual and Jiath have dried up over the last week who play a similar role to Wilson and Carroll but are more highly rated.

Personally keen for Moir and Simpson.

Yeah, I'm assuming our interest in them is if we trade up the draft and then have to take our 2nd pick later, or for our rookie pick.

There might be some interesting cat and mouse between us and WC if Collard is on the board at our pick and we don't want him.

Could make them think we want him and see if they give us an F3 or something to shift forward one spot. But then they probably figure if we want him we wouldn't do that so they could call our bluff.

On the flipside they are the only club in the 20s reportedly keen on Moir. If we want him that could force us to use our 1st pick rather then our 2nd. But they could be making us think that so we let another player slip through.

If both collard and moir are on our board who are we taking and why

Both boom or bust types. Lots of X-factor which we need. I'm leaning towards Moir only because we have more small forward options then medium types. Though our smalls lack the pace of Collard.

Both have their pros but if the club needs to decide I suspect the decision will be made on character.

Ideally, we get something from WC to slide back a spot if they are that desperate for Collard and we are 50/50.

That would make sense. If we are trying to get up the draft we would need to do the legwork on players available at our 2nd pick if it's later.

Curtin at pick 10? Wow

A rough order

Reid
Walter
McKercher
Duursma
Watson
Sanders
Read
O'Sullivan
Caddy
Curtin

While they are impact players, I would have Curtin ahead of Caddy, as well as Duursma who I think is very overrated in that top 10. Duursma is one of the better marks in the draft, but he gives me Will Hayward vibes, rather than a forward/mid

Also have Curtin just ahead of O'Sullivan

Don't think I have ever rated a small forward so high, but Watson has it all as a player, and will do a fair few stints through the middle like Papley

Even just the proposed Dan Curtin trade going through could blow Cals predicted first round apart. Usually he gets 90% of those picks spit on.
I reckon he’s all over the shop this year. Surely Hawks take Curtin before Watson and with Gingivitis coming across. I think ADE take Wilson and SYD don’t take a ruck with their first pick, they just got Grundy.

If we do go after the GEE pick, I reckon it’s for Caddy.
