Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

I think height is really overrated in midfielders.

Quite possible, especially with explosive acceleration becoming more and more of a factor.

That said, if it's overrated, it's not by much.

You don't need a midfield of all 6 foot plus players - it's just something people have gotten into their head. 1 is fine.

Neale just won a brownlow and he is a midget.

Of course not. However, when talking about 'big bodied midfielders', being tall is the main requirement.

Players like Pedlar, Sparrow, Shoenberg and their ilk are not big bodied midfielders and will never fall under that classification. That's a term reserved for the Cripps, Kennedy, Martin, Petracca and Dangerfield of the worlds. The guys who are tall enough that they can comfortably carry 90+ kg (possibly 95+ kg) without losing their mobility.

My issue is that our list spots are at an absolute premium, why on earth would be wasting one of our spots with this guy?

This makes no sense at all.

From what I can work out (and someone please correct me if I am wrong)

Moving on Hately, Himmelberg, Doedee and McCasey gives us 4 spots on our list.

Bringing in this guy takes us down to 3 list spots, which then means that you can pretty much guarantee that we're not getting anyone else.

It really sounds like this might be a pretty weak draft. I'm not sure we want to be making too many selections.

Much better player than Himmellberg.
Anyone who thinks dragon could match 60 goals in the VFL is dreaming.

He's not primarily coming as a forward though, isn't he?

I guess it's nice he can play forward if we suffered injuries but it sounds like he's coming to play down back. I'm more interested in his backline credentials.

Ok here's a name no one has mentioned.

Oscar Adams.

Have I seen him play? Nup
Is he any good? No idea. Probably not.

Pick 50ish in 2021 from Glenelg.
Drink driving conviction as an 18 yo
198cm, key def / pinch hit ruck.
good leap apparently.

Anyone seen him play? Worth a rookie spot over Borlase?
Which club is he at?

Shannon Hurn doesn't meet your height requirements but I'm bloody sure I wouldn't like to have run into him on a football field with a full head of steam up..
GA junior 183cm. Always hard to bring down
It's the build moreso than the height.

The "role" Billy had was a fabrication during the commentary once they saw how bad Billy was as a key forward.

It was an old fashion towel up by Andrews.

I thought that too. How often is a forward's job to nullify the impact of a key defender?

I've certainly heard of defensive forwards, whose job was to nullify the impact of defenders who were also key playmakers for their respective teams - usually defenders playing the "quarterback" role (I hate using Americanisms), who are responsible for launching attacks from defence.

However, these attacking defenders are usually small-mid sized, not KPDs.

I think it was just the usual Collingwood cheer squad, making excuses for a player who was having his arse kicked into next week.

Ultimately, Frampton's performance will be recorded as one of the worst in the history of AFL Grand Finals - 1 kick, 1 disposal, no score. There's an old joke - "who kicked 4 goals in the 1990 AFL Grand Final?", "Essendon". Frampton will likely be the butt of similar jokes in years to come.

Collingwood had some excellent performances on Saturday, Bobby Hill being justly awarded the Norm Smith Medal - but he wasn't their only gun performer. Frampton wasn't one of them.

Mooney didn't touch the ball in Norths 1999 GF win

Finlayson had 1 disposal in GWS GF loss to Richmond

Clayton Oliver in. Burgess starts working on him while he's waiting for his luggage at the carousel.
McAdam & Fogarty to Melbourne, throw in a pick if necessary.

Himmelberg out, use whatever we get there to bring in Burgess & Chol for steak knives

FWD's are Thilthorpe, Tex, Gollant, Burgess, Chol, Rachele, Rankine, Pedlar (we'll miss Fog, but it'll be alright)
MID's are Oliver, Laird, Dawson, Soligo, Crouch, with rotations of Sloane, Rankine, Pedlar, Hinge, Parnell & co
BACK's are Murray, Smithers, Nankervis, Butts, Keane, Borlase, Michalanney with Dawson there from time to time.

Who did I forget?
