Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

absolute rubbish

mine was clear just because i could not tell you exactly what I heard because of who it implicated does not mean its wrong

i dont care whats said i have stuck to what i heard first hand bu the way all the way through despite the abuse.

I hope it comes off just to rub your face in it. if not i hapoy put my hand up and say its wrong but I think its already clear theres enough smoke my rumour was correct
Ok, so here’s your chance. Put the cryptic bullshit aside - what was the actual rumour. Make it easier for us to test your veracity.

Can I get some clarity on list spots?

We’re do we sit if McAdam and Himmelberg go and Petty comes in?

I’m presuming Borlase (excess to requirement) is not offered anything at that point.

When the Crows wanted to maximise their free agency return for Brad Crouch there was total outcry from the AFL media and the league shut it down asap.

When Essendon, North, or St Kilda want to do exactly the same thing they’re applauded for being smart and it’s play on nothing to see here.

The AFL makes so many rules up as it goes along, and invariably leans the right way for Victorian sides and the wrong way for non-Vic sides.

What a joke of a league, they never change

He heard a name that was already out there, that was already been discussed and decided to double down in cryptic fashion as if he’d heard something

Heads or tails; tails or heads

So if you summarise today’s trade over the two years, it’s essentially:

In: Dowling, Burgess, pick 14
Out: 2022 (pick 23), pick 28

…plus some junk third and fourth rounders.

Reckon that’s a win.

My point is and has been all along that some posters set a very low bar. We moved up in the draft and recruited a depth player. Great. It’s a move in the right direction but it’s hardly a coup.

On the other hand we have (so far) struck out on targets that could make a difference.

From a media perspective we certainly have at least been having a crack all year to pick up an A grader (perhaps now dropping down to a B +) with Day, Redman etc

You can only do what you can do - if we just want to bring in new players there are plenty of those to grab - if you want high quality it’s much harder

Just a thought, but would it be viable for the Crows to Trade pick 10 and Himmelberg for GWS pick 7 and Crows Pick 14 and McAdam for Melbourne Pick 11? Given we are tight for list positions, going into the draft with picks 7, 11 and 20 is a sight better than 10, 23 and 26.

Rumour in the rumours thread that we may be getting a pick from GWS as part of a Haynes salary dump, presumably pick 7.

Post in thread '2023 Rumours and Speculation (Rumours total 37!, 1 (busted) BIG FISH ALERT last October 9th) (9 confirmed! 17 Busted!)' Rumour - 2023 Rumours and Speculation (Rumours total 37!, 1 (busted) BIG FISH ALERT last October 9th) (9 confirmed! 17 Busted!)

No, we've had a plan a, and when that didn't work we pivoted to a plan b and plan c.

We didn't just have one option, and when that fell through we gave up.

We haven't resorted to trades that aren't wins for us. We haven't resorted to doing things just to keep our name in the papers. Everything has had purpose behind it.

It's ridiculous to just think we can only do an absolute club transforming trade, or we've failed. We should keep looking to do whatever we can that improves our club.

Melbourne will not flinch on holding contracted defender Harrison Petty to his contract as they prepare to offer Adelaide a pick in the 30s for forward Shane McAdam.
Adelaide is understood to have offered South Australian 197cm forward Petty a long-term front-ended deal that could hit as much as $800,000 a season across the life of the contract.

In response Melbourne, which has Petty contracted for two more seasons, is understood to be open to extending his contract at more lucrative terms to ensure the 23-year-old stays at the Demons.

Despite Petty being open-minded to a move back to South Australia at some stage, the Demons can hold firm given he is a contracted player.

Losing Petty would be disastrous for the Demons given they will already lose Brodie Grundy to the Swans and are considered light on for forward leading targets.

Demons list boss Tim Lamb was adamant at the start of trade week that no Melbourne player would be involved in a trade for Shane McAdam.

I’m actually dumbfounded by the dees..

They trade us Oliver for 10, 14 and possibly even our f1… with an f2 coming back..

And they get so much draft capital to get pick 1 and reid its not funny..

5, 10, 11, 14 to WC for 1..

Replace oliver, who they actually played ok without this season, with reid..

And

Add back in a million dollars a year for the next 7 years to their salary cap..

And

Get rid of, by their own admission, a troubled player thats been causing them grief..

Its really strange they didnt think to do it..

TBH I think the whole Oliver saga was a wakeup call for him and was never going to traded. We basics told the Clubs a furphy which is poor form as I would expect an AFL club to be more transparent in these situations. The media obsession did not help either.

I can understand the frustration if i was s a Crows supporter, but hopefully you can find some good midfielders in this draft to complete the rebuild. Yesterday's trade was a strange one as I would have expected McAdam to be included.

What’s ridiculous is being a well resourced club with plenty of cap space with a pressing need and not being able to meet it.

Ridiculous is acting like that’s not a complete fail.

This is not splitting the atom, turning water into wine or curing cancer. Merely trading for a player or players that will help take the next step.

Literally every semi competent club does it every offseason!

We certainly can't say the Club hasn't been aggressive .....Redmen, Oliver, and Petty .....trading up the board

AND ...we haven't reached the pointy end of the Draft Period yet, where all the action occurs .....normally at this stage of Draft Period, it's very quiet with lots of posturing

We've positioned ourselves to still do a lot with the current picks ......interesting times

We can "bank" TPP funds, from one year into the next year .....IIRC that leeway is 5% off the min spend to 5% over the maximum spend

Vader am I correct with the percentages ?

That's a confirmed yes, and veteran's list a confirmed no.
When was it confirmed? Can you please link to an article confirming it?

The last afl.com.au article I saw confirmed that the Veterans List was a definite no, but only said that clubs were anticipating MSD selections being given 3.5 years on the rookie list.
