Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

Pushing McAdam and Doedee out the door seems pretty pointless in that case. Surely we don't need the cap space.
Attracting two brilliant players in two years when we we're rubbish then being unable to land one when we're on the improve is disappointing

Not that strange. Serviceable at both ends of the ground. So quite a flexible back up

Considering we have Gollant contracted and Borlase out of contract who showed he's capable depth, yeah, it's strange to be interested in a 27 year old depth option who has showed little at this level.

Should be an interesting next post from Viva, timing to post 100% intel and be wrong might be a record…

If Cox has just officially re-signed then it would have been agreed some time ago, and all parties and potential suitors would have known for some time of his intentions

This hasn’t just happened overnight

Certainly does. Seems like a pretty meh trade period all round from what's been confirmed so far.
You do realise that the club doesn't do trades to entertain you?

The club has said that they're targeting specific players, and none of the players they were targeting this year agreed to come. Unlike the power tools, we're quite selective about who we get - we go for quality, while they go for quantity.

Our only real trade need at present is a backup KPD, preferably a cheap one.

Oh well then, that’s ok.

It’s not like we have any needs

And what part of that counters the "seems like a meh trading period all round"?

So are we going to do anything other than getting Burgess?

Chol will have a better chance of being best 22 at brisbane and hawthorn, the bidding war for pick for 4 appears to gone above the our budget, what's left?

Hawks will have money to burn after missing out on McKay. Expect them to snap up Chol, particularly after losing Koschitzke.

I suspect the mail possibly came from a legit source, but someone could be trying to locate a leak.

I'm not sure people can look at our team and our list and say it's basically the finished article.

Our midfield for starters with Schoenberg injured and not a lot in the SANFL side to get excited about. I guess we'll just have to keep rolling Sloane out every week.

You are assuming players want to choose them though...

Schoenberg being injured doesn't really change anything in that regards. No different to rolling out Sloane really.

A lot of it is hoping Rachele can transition into a full time forward/mid next year and maybe Soligo into a 5th midfielder. There really aren't options beyond that unless we're about to go back to the Jones well (if he's healthy). Or we throw a curveball and throw a Hinge/Rankine into our midfield mix, but that's seen to be believed territory.

We can re-use our Organic Growth PR stuff from last time we emerged empty handed from a trade period

Mind you... did Organic Growth result in a grand final appearance last time?
