Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Given that we dropped Brodie a couple of days after announcing his 2 year extension, I wouldn't be too sure of that.

You're right! I have gotten my rookie list extensions confused.

You still made a good point in your post - that question has never been answered by the AFL.

Doesn't impact us in 2023 but might in 2024 but it'll be interesting to see what happens with 2021 MSD picks for future reference.

I'm not convinced that a mid season rookie 6 months counts in the three years on the rookie list in terms of starting that 2025 season having spent three years on the list - because he hasn't at that point.

** This post is inaccurate, Worner wasn't a mid season draft pick and will need to be elevated to the primary list in 2025 unless the AFL affords clubs some list concession for that season **

Where are the big mid-year signings Tay Tay??
I was hoping for a Hodor extension ??
Instead we got the geriatric and rookie feel good ones who in Fyfe, Sonny, the Swede and the slenda Somali….as well as a Moose…
Are we nervous yet or do we take Scott Lucas on his comments so far regarding Mr Darcy as solid ??

Getting the little bits and pieces sorted then whatever’s left can go to the onion farm

Like keeping Worner and Kuek. Both could have debuted already without our good run with injuries or without Treacy and Amiss in good form.

The two year extension for Worner is interesting. I’m not sure he’s done anything yet to warrant that length of commitment. At the end of the day he’s not kicked a ball at AFL level and is completely unproven. One year would have been fine I reckon.
Just hope we don’t end up with another Stefan Giro

That’s one less rookie pick we can take at the end of next year now so hopefully by then Karl has shown some decent signs at AFL level.

He has to be upgraded end of next year so its one less national draft pick that we can take, can take a rookie in his spot



The murmurs are that Richmond chased him (he trained with them in that preseason where he couldn't come over due to covid), so if we rate him then it makes sense that they bumped it up to 2 years, I've been critical of him as he doesn't really have the tools to make it but he may get away with it with footy smarts, I reckon he is close enough to a debut to justify it though

Brodie 3 year deal, then dropped.
Walters 2 year deal at 33, and he is slowing quickly.
Bring Omeara in, even though we had no spot for him and it hurts game time of others e.g. Erasmus.
Trade two firsts and a 2nd for Jackson
Trade pick 5,6 who became rozzee and king for Sturt , Hogan and Lobb
Trade pick 21 for Wilson during a rebuild.
Banfield 2 year contract.

We make so many short team decisions, like all we care about is improving our ladder position next year but it kills us long term every time.

I wish we would think long term. I look at the crows and them dropping players not because it helps them now, but because it helps them in 3 and 4 years with envy.

I think we are 3 a graders short of best 22, and we had not funked up the rebuild we would be there
