I would think most going Hopper to Ashcroft, there's a bit of Worpel and Sheed floating around
thanks for that, there is LOTS of questionable guys who could make some decent money but would be a very ballsy move to take one of;

Sheed, Sonsie, Fyfe, Worpel, Culley, Flanders, Callaghan, Sharp

I've just brought Whitfield in for Titch ....strapping in for another WILD ride .....what could go wrong ??

Just wait for the DPP, at least you get a look at him then.

And it gives him a chance to get injured and save you from yourself.

He will need 6 games to get there I don't like his chances. Knowing his history he will get a concussion running through the banner Round 1

Look at GWS first 6 rounds ....best to get him B4 he gets injured ....if we didn't have 36 trades, I wouldn't touch ...but Whitfield has a 20 point upside

So Danger is now captain and is contracted until the end of 2024 so last year did he have injuries the we didn't know about?
It's hard to say he's cooked if they have just made him captain and probably still the Cats best midfielder so can he crack 100+ again or is he too old and too slow?

Danger had a back injury IIRC and was usually carrying something by finals every yr anyway, so last yr they managed him frequently (same with Selwood and others).

You’d think they won’t move away from a winning formula, so it’s almost guaranteed he will miss games throughout the year. He also started off the bench, and only had 60% of CBAs last year, the Cats preferring to rotate players in the midfield very quickly. I think it was the First Crack show pointed out Cats players were playing on average like 15 mins less per game in the mids than other sides.

Just pony up the extra $100k and go someone like Anderson. Danger could certainly still do it on ability, but the way he will be played by the coaches won’t be conducive to high scoring.

From a Hawthorn POV, the only relevant options for us are.

Jai Newcombe ($478,200) - Newcombe is a star, he's the main one in there, but may cop attention, he's obviously an absolute bull, he'll win cp & tackles, very good on the outside with a laser boot, and an emerging superstar, watch him, don't bother picking for Round 1. Awkward price and just not sure where he'll sit.

James Worpel ($309,300) - Seen him in some teams, but tbh, not even sure he'll play Round 1. He's just so flat footed at the contest, can't keep his feet, looks leaner, he's pretty explosive, he's good at winning the contested ball & around the stoppages, but he's been a complete butcher, watch him against Collingwood if you want, but not sold at all.

Cam MacKenzie ($180,300) - Didn't play against Geelong but he's been very good, and a standout, he'll play Round 1, he's just so damn classy, he has great vision & his foot skills are unreal, his ability to kick inside 50 are top notch. Pretty good build, good explosive pace and great agility, he'll play a midfield role with stints on the wing, def pick!

Josh Ward ($351,200) - Another who's not really a genuine option, not sure on his output, he looks ready to explode tho, he's in great nick, he is a running machine, he knows how to accumulate, he's a great user by hand and foot (really quick by hand, really clean, and places kicks, but also can get them low and flat.) he's a great decision maker and just a smart footballer who works hard, think Sam Walsh like, but again not sure where he sits for consistency, ability to put it all together, and if he can show his accumulation at AFL level. You can watch him, more of a draft pick atm.

Connor MacDonald ($279,100) - I've seen people ponder, he's a MID-FWD i believe, not a horrible price. Played midfield and trained there in the pre season, but played predominately forward against Geelong (high half forward), while he found the footy and showed his class at stages, he did miss a few kicks taking that inside option, and obviously a lacking of midfield time, watch him in the Collingwood game but don't think he's an option, but he looks like he could be a very good player, mid-fwd with xfactor, class, agility & speed and a pretty good build already are good signs.

Surely Worpel can’t be both flat footed around stoppages and explosive.

It looks like Worpel will be used as cannon fodder to protect the younger mids. He and Newcombe have attended far and away the most stoppages over the last few weeks match sims and lined up in the centre to commence all games in the first unit. He is the ultimate butcher but I'd be very surprised if he's not lining up in the guts on day 1

I really wish Clarry wasn't a must have.
I just can't see him going backwards at all, given he wins his own ball and he's got Grawndy tapping the ball to him. He's in mine, begrudgingly.

He is just a player that will burn you if you dont start with him and leave you scratching your head regarding trying to bring him in if you dont as nearly every campaigner you play H2H in a league match will have him either VC or C!

Start him and structure your side accordingly. 👍

With 45 % ownership .....you're behind the 8-ball if you don't start him & he goes big

Some players won't hurt you if you don't have them ...and they have a high % ownership .....Rozee, doubt will hurt me, as a non owner

I've said this B4 ....watchout the impact of JHF on Rozee / Butters

Also ....Lachie Jones slated to go thru PORTS Midfield ....could be a lot of mid-rotations at PORT, compared to MELB, GC, BULLDOGS & RICH
