He'll have times where he shows an inability to break away, or at least execute a kick that would generate results at AFL level simply due to his speed not being as consistently elite alongside his endurance. What is it about Binns game that has him not being selected, on stats alone I would have thought he would have had a run in the 1s, but must be something Voss doesn’t like?

I think he ironed that out a bit today and made a lot of good decisions in terms of how and where to execute so that it was athletically within himself, but expect to see the odd wobbly floater until he's more across the cadence of AFL football.
I'd play him though, 100%.
Needs to play another 7-8 games and get 30-40 touches each game. He may then be possibly brought in as sub. But, is there two many similar types already in front of him? What is it about Binns game that has him not being selected, on stats alone I would have thought he would have had a run in the 1s, but must be something Voss doesn’t like?

Not exactly - though I assume this was a joke - he's more along the lines of Ollie Hollands, but shorter and with a tad less burst and depth in kicking. So he is exactly like the rest of our midfield.
I have a couple of reservations around Binns. His disposal can be excellent or trash, I have wanted him to earn it while others have screamed for his inclusion. He was plenty combative today against an average opponent, it remains to be seen how he steps up, but I am now comfortable he has earned the right to a game.Binns was involved in a number of 50-100m plays where would dispose and then get another in the chain while breaking through lines.
I dunno how this would translate to AFL level though, where everything seems systemically turgid.
Get Ollie and Binns on the meat pies over summer and in the gym, and we might have our wings covered for next 10 years.[emoji108]IMO Binns started behind Hollands, I think he’s arguably in front of him now, he’s bloody quick and just keeps running to create.
Kicks it harder & is also a little stronger body wise.
Not knocking Ollie, Binns has just come on leaps & bounds.
Still just a kid so isn’t physically imposing but he’s a smart footballer- gets to dangerous/useful places by willing himself there.
If we decided to start opening up play he needs to come in.
Hope we don’t try the ol back/wing & make him a quasi defender, let’s push offense with him

I don’t doubt the step up, I just think Binns is one of those players who will actually be better at the top level.I get what you're saying but one has only played VFL to date and the other only AFL and the gap between those two levels is huge. Players can look much better playing VFL vs AFL - we saw this just a week ago with Fish who looked like a superstar running around getting almost 40 in the VFL, but often in the AFL he can't get near it. We need to see them both at the same level for a few weeks to really compare.

They are kids, particularly O’Keeffe who, as a December foal is remains 18 yo through the season. Has a long way to go, but an absolute pup in the elite game. Had very little ruck time behind Mirkov (and Pitt and TDK at times) slow burn, but will be genuine AFL quality in time.I thought Lemmey and Okeefe looked way off Afl physicality. If you are struggling to take a contested mark against a stand alone side, there is a way to go to make AFL

Lemmey, I am not as certain about. Has the tools, but a little “flakey” at times. Could go either way. I remain convinced he will be better suited as a defender.
