think McIvor posted he saw Payne and his girlfriend being interviewed by BT last Friday and she lives in Melbourne. I think Payne is OOC 2024? Surely he would not want to leave sunny QLD to go to Melbourne, if he did we surely need to recruit a KPD but there are not too many lockdown types, Himmelberg probably more intercept and suspect he prefers playing forward. Doedee not a lockdown defender.
She’s a qld girl. Training to become a pilot and is doing it down here. Jack is very close with his family. I can’t see him leaving

I hadn't even thought of Jack Silvagni as a trade target, I do like him, he is taller than I thought at 194cm so could definitely play as that 3rd tall, Vossy doesn't seem to be sold on him so he could be open to a move, according to footywire he is a RFA at the end of this season.
A Silvagni leaving Carlton. I'd like to see that.

Silvagni is definitely a whipping boy and much maligned by various people at Carlton. But I do respect players who will sacrifice their game for a variety of roles and give it their all.

Have no idea on what they would be like moving away from Carlton, but getting away from SOS and all his drama might help things

If he wants to play finals Sydney seems way off they haven’t beaten a team in the 8 this season

Sydney have re-built their list the other way to how we did it. We drafted KP first (Andrews, Hipwood, Schache etc) followed by mids/forwards (Rayner, Bailey, Berry, McCluggage, Starce etc) and then traded for blue chip later like Charlie, Neale etc.

Sydney has a solid young core coming through in midfield and utility but they are struggling with key position areas. McKay would be a good fit for them. I think they'll be going after the likes of McKay, Himmelberg and even Barass if Westcoast is happy to trade him.

We don't have much of a draft hand unless one of our A grade players ups and leaves and we don't want that.
Think we need to find a player or two in the lower leagues that suite our needs.
Hit and miss but so is any player going 30 plus in the draft. There may be a mature aged player (21 years +) we can pick up late.
I can see us resigning quite a few OOC fringe players to keep known depth so we can get through 2024.

You can't bring in Dunkley, Ashcroft (2) and Fletcher (12) in the one draft and not pay some price in the next one.
Luckly, we got McKenna for nothing the same year.

Himmelberg is the interesting one there surely he just stays at the Giants before going to the Swans

If Lester spends the rest of the year playing really good football I wonder if we still spend the salary cap on a player like Doedee.

I do think Lester will regress to the mean by the end of the year though

Froggy's had a really good season. He's also 31 in two months. He absolutely gets another year but that doesn't mean we couldn't use an upgrade.

My preferred option would be Himmelberg but doubt we can get close to the money on offer.

Would like us to improve our draft hand this year. Looks like the opportunity for Dev to be starting mid for the eagles is too good to refuse. I’m assuming they are after him. I don’t think he will sign an extension. So without giving it much thought maybe give the eagles Dev, our future first and get an early second round pick back (plus a late pick for 2024 maybe).

I think Lohmann will go as well. So maybe use him to improve points for Ashcroft next year.

I’d like to keep both players but if they haven’t signed yet then I think it’s unlikely.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dev left because I think we rate Tunstill higher as a future mid i/s prospect.

Froggy hasn't knocked himself around too much during his career and seems fairly durable.

This will sound strange coming from me as a traditional Froggy knocker but he's doing things I never thought he was capable of and is playing with a lot of confidence.

I'm now on the fence with Froggy and don't see it as inconceivable that he could make it as a regular at 31. He has a couple of shortcomings but what role player doesn't and players with a heap of talent can often make the same or more mistakes.

Eagles should NOT be doing such a trade.

Devs out of contract, hasn’t been able to lock down a best 22 role in 4 seasons at the Lions.

Similar type trades have seen players move for late 3rd round picks.

We’d be lucky if we got the Eagles 3rd round pick. More likely we get Ports 3rd round pick that the Eagles hold.
