Just had a listen to that chat, and agree with you, it sounds like we will be taking "a few selections" "be pretty active" at the draft this year.

Briz will be happy.
Ideally I hope we bring in an extra experienced KPP, just for a bit of depth.

Whether that be Doedee or not, who knows. Does he classify as a KPP?

I should know this and I could find out myself but did we burn our first pick this year in the Dunkley trade last year?

Edit. First and second gone with Dunkley hey. Been more than worth it though. Having said that, it’ll take some moving and shaking to get back into the draft then. Wonder if there’s a surprise trade to happen at the end of the year. Still a lot of players OOC.

Briz will be happy if we can trade back in and get atleast one selection as high as we can

Honestly, I’m waiting to see if there are any changes to the bid matching requirements for father son kids, before I get my hopes up about trading up in the draft.

When Conole talked about being active at the draft, I did interpret that as trying to trade up for a higher pick.

would we trade Rayner for Grundy?

Only our first, we have a 2nd still (might be someone else’s though).

I could see us trading future picks with Gold Coast for their picks this year, they need a tonne of points this year and we need some next year for Levi

With Doedee likely to stay at the Crom do we look at Himmelberg or McKay as a free agent?

Himmelberg, but cost?

McKay has looked poor at Norf but would surely elevate in an A grade team, but again cost.

I think either would elevate us to Melbourne of 2021. Giving Harris the ability to float and play to his strengths would give me similar vibes to May and Lever back 6.

I wouldn’t be going after McKay.
Himmelberg would be perfect for our list either as a tall forward or a 3rd defender.

Himmelberg would be ideal but seems unlikely we could offer the $.

Doesn’t mean he will get it, but I have heard that McKay is asking for 900k.
So he is definitely out of the question.
Himmelberg will probably need 800k to pry him away from GWS.

I wonder if Zerk-Thatcher would be worth a look as a lower cost option and as a third tall defender could possibly flourish in our system.

Yeah I'd pay 800k for Himmelberg to primarily play as a defender but also as someone who can kick 35-40 goals as a forward if played there, but I think he'll get that money and more from other teams and he'd likely prefer to stay in Sydney (swans reportedly keen).

I’m not a fan because I don’t recall him to much but I heard a couple of people at work talking about Melbournes Tomlinson as a cheap KPD. Hasn’t he had a couple of ACLs and is he even a proper KPD. I can’t say I know a lot about him other than he played at Giants
More of a utility.
Probably played his best footy in his last year at GWS on the wing.

His strengths: endurance, height.

His weaknesses: contested marking, getting the ball below his knees, effective disposals (he's not bad, it's just a very loopy kicking style that gives a lot of time to close down his target).

He had a good run at KPD for the Giants for half a season or so, but he's very much not a natural. He's ended up on wings at both GWS and Melbourne, simply because it seems like he's got attributes of an AFL player but just not the right combination to fit any actual position. He can't kick well enough to be a damaging winger, can't collect the ball easily enough to be an inside mid, can't mark the ball well enough to really be a good KPF, doesn't have good enough closing speed to play a true KPD role, not quite tall enough or a big enough leap to ruck, and isn't agile enough to play secondary defensive roles.

His best bet is that zoning third tall role but you can play just about anyone in that, plus most teams have an actual weapon in that position that can also rotate through a KPD (Taylor, Andrews, Sicily, etc) or a rebounding defender role (Lloyd, Ryan, etc).
