Our fans really like Reid. Our board wants an unfair super trade akin to Adelaide’s offer for the JHF pick.

2,3,14 and F1 for 1 and 22 type trade.
I don’t think that’s gonna happen myself. Our fans don’t think it’ll happen, but that’s what they’d expect the only selling price to be
A bit of a self own, mate.

The Adelaide offer was 6, 6 and swapping like 17 for 21. So lets look for an equivalent value offer from North.

North happen to have 17 & WC have 22... close enough.

I would say that 2 & 15 have similar value to 6 & 6.

So your "Adelaide offer" equivalent would be...
North get picks 1 and 22
WC get picks 2, 15 and 17.

Would WC accept?

In: 1, Darling
Out: 15, 17, 18, F2
At the moment our full suite of priority picks are 21, 24 & 45 this year and picks 19 & 20 next year. According to the West Coast supporters on the Draft and Trading board that's the most generous assistance package in the history of the AFL

Considering clubs have received pick 1 as a PP in the past then 15, 17, 18 and a future 2nd should be enough for pick 1 this year, but if they need an early 3rd rounder just to beat our assistance package I'm sure we could find a way to accomodate them :).

This way Dees keep 14 and only upgrade 6, 11 > 2 so will pick at 2, 14. They miss on Reid but get next best that fits them. Maybe they wont do it who knows.

EDIT Ok lol Dees traded 14. Theres been that many pick swaps im losing track of who has what. 14 should read as F1.

If Dees would prefer to keep a 2nd pick this year instead it could be

In: 1, 6, F1 (Mel)
Out: 2, 3, 15

Dees get 2, 15
WC 3, 11

Looks like Brady and the Sydney list manager have mic dropped this trade period. Could be quite the snooze fest for the next week. What else is going to happen? A little bit of posturing around pick 1 but no movement. And a final day trade between StKilda and Essendon over a player that neither fan base or the rest of the AFL gives a shit about.

It’s so simple.

Future first and 2 for Reid and Darling

Pick 3 on whichever we think is best available not taken by west coast.

Trade pick 15 to GWS for 7 and Haynes. Take O’Sullivan or unlikely Watson. Perfect spot in the draft for O’Sullivan.

Use remaining picks of 17 and 18 for best available key position players, small forwards, lock down dour defenders.

Go into next season with Reid, Darling, Mckercher, O’Sullivan, two developing list hole fillers, Stephens, Fisher, Pink and George, and hopefully turn that pick 4 for west coast into a pick 8-10 for the privilege of watching Reid run around in blue and white.
I'm totally against using future picks, especially our future first. With our unbelievably strong draft hand there is absolutely no need to dip into next year's war chest. If anything I would entertain the thought of trading away one of our late teens picks for a future first from another club to maintain the multiple first round picks assault of the last few years, but only if it isn't required to trade into the top 10 via GWS or Geelong.

I’ve flipped and I’ve flopped on this. And I know it’s a big power move.

BUT

It’s a smart move too I think. Imagine Reid is worth the hype. And I genuinely think he and darling make us 50 goals better next year. Darling isn’t part of the future but him and Larkey playing gives us 2 mature key forward capable of kicking a bag. Something we haven’t had since Waite retired.

The added run from fisher and Stephens is perfect to help us run out games.

Im mot expecting miracles but the level of young talent is a good shot out of the bottom 4.

So you compare pick 2-5 next year. Yeah another mid. Why not just take Reid now?

Keep 3 for best available. Get 7 for two defenders.

Draft for needs.

It’s a risk worth taking right now. Imagine the fanfare of dick face 2 years ago, but a local kid, under clarko with a million young first round draft picks including LDU, sheezel, Thomas and more.

Do it.

Senior List spots:
Out: ziebell cunnington Goldstein hall mckay perez young spicer (8)
Uncontracted: bonar Mahoney (2)

Ins: George (LTI return) Fisher Stephens (3)

Rookies:
Out: Edwards Howe (2)
Uncontracted: Turner

The question is what list will Biggy and Pink end up on though.
Thank you sir, this is helpful.

If WC absolutely must have pick 2/3 (with an arrangement on Curtin to them), it has to be with just the one late first rounder. Otherwise I don't see how we deal?? I mean we just have no need to push that hard with a pick 2 swap.

If they can agree to something other than those two picks, something that gives them more picks this year and doesn't need to be front of the queue, then potentially we consider trading next years first with another club, like Melbourne.

We trade our first round next year and pick 18 this year for their first round next year and pick 6 this year. Melbourne seem to think they are still the best team, so I'm confident they would believe that they would no go out straight sets again and finish higher, and how many would pick us finishing 12th next year? Plus, Melbourne want an elite midfielder and they would likely have a top 3 pick next year to grab it.

NM>MEL - FFR(2),18
MEL>NM - FFR(14),6

then offer the entire haul of picks from 6 onwards in the first round for pick 1 to WC, with a pick low enough to get Curtin (I'm not sure if the hawks, doggies bid on Curtin honestly). I mean they need to understand they have one pick in the first 21 selections right now.

NM>WC - 6,15,17
WC>NM - 1

WC jump almost 1000 points this year and still pick low, with two later first rounders that give genuine players with nice contract terms for an interstate side.

We essentially stay the same amount of points this year, but drop about 1150 points from next year (but importantly still have a first round selection). Melbourne gain massively next year, but lose that pick 6 this year (though still have 11 and now 18).

McClure was forced to apologise at the time. All other news outlets are accepting that he’s happy to go. McClure has just backed himself into a corner. If the trade does happen he can (unjustly) say told ya so, if he doesn’t he’ll look like a true clown.

We can go around in circles here. We could drop down, but it’s going to take more than is considered for. Our list boss has been consistent on his messaging. Even now the media sans McClure is accepting that a) Reid is happy enough to come across and b) we aren’t taking Curtin with 1.

What happens in three years, who knows? Maybe he will want to go home in three. No one knows that, not even the great lad himself.

North have a strong hand and if they wanted to they could stump up. It’ll cost more than you North fans want and less than us Eagles fans want.

that's not even in the ball park of Adelaide's offer...

Thats okay if you're happy to end up with 2 & 3 if it fails, which I am.

But if North's goal is to get Reid then they need to outbid Hawks, Dees and others. These sides might put an offer that beats WC drafting Curtin or McKercher with pick 1.
I'm not sure how we can be outbid.

Hawks 4 and future 1st?
Melb 6, 11 and future first?
