Parish I can get behind

Is he a restricted FA? Essendon would be crazy to let him go and while they are playing well I doubt he asks to leave. Realistically sides needed to go after him while he was still developing and Essendon were shit.

He is. Agreed that the chances of him leaving have lowered now Essendon are playing good footy and have a good coach.

If we just want a free hit top up mid Matt Crouch make sense. Play him until a the kids are ready and a FA who wouldn't be on huge money. He'd have a similar impact to Mitchell at Collingwood IMO. Otherwise I rate Rhys Mathieson as the best player outside a best 22 at the moment. I reckon he'd be a great Ross Lyon project.

James Jordan is young and on the free agents list. I thought he looked alright in the only game I remember seeing him in.

There’s a constant obsession with clubs playing youth. Geelong have bucked that trend. The top teams are now playing a very experienced starting midfield group with their youth playing a more supporting role.

Harmes is at a good age as long as we think he’s best 22. I’d take him even know he looks like some newly discovered amphibian that’s just crawled out of the Mariana Trench.
oh god, the thought of seeing buck toothed Harmes in the side is not significantly pleasing. dude reminds me of Beaker from the muppets

Genuine question
What would we do with another tall defender?
Do we play 4 or trade one we have.
I think the balance of talls and smalls we have at the moment is good
I’d argue another gorilla back means Wilkie and Battle can attack the air more.

Wilkie can shut down the gun smalls aswell. Think Rampe. Think James Clement etc.

We can argue that the Carlton frees in the first half were soft. But Battle was pulling because he was smaller.

Can’t imagine landing Parish without losing Gresham

I am confident the club stays the course and continues to go to the draft? We finally have our drafting and recruiting going very well - lets not move away from that. Bring in more elite kids and certainly look at rated cheap trades and free agents but not at the expense of early draft capital.

Stavro has mentioned we need a key defender and forward/ruckman and he is right, but please not at the expense of using early draft capital. There have been consistent rumours we are heavily into Ben McKay as a free agent and he would be great if we can get him across. Ive noticed that Jack Crisp is a FA he would be the perfect midfield recruit if he was interested in a pay rise.

We only had a small snap shot of what Jack Hayes can produce, but I believe he looks to be as effective in the forward/ruckman role as any other player on the open market. The other possibility is Anthony Caminiti who has a huge leap, a good tank and is really strong for a lad his age. As long as he learns to ruck like Blicavs and not attempt to body the big ruckman I think he could fill that role well.

We also have Isaac Keeler on the list who is very raw and will need time, but he moves exceptionally well for a lad his size. Like Max Heath he will need to build a bigger tank before they can impact the AFL but they have the basic tools. There just isn't that many quality forward/ruckman available that wouldnt cost the world. I think we have the players already on our list, they just need the opportunity and development.

The current club environment is elite and will bring the best out in players who may have previously struggled, but elite kids will also produce quicker than they might of otherwise. I expect the club continues to go to the draft unless there is a free agent or two available.

Yes, just like Degoey laat year, its going to be unlikely he actually goes

Shouldn't mean we don't have a crack though

Apparently they are struggling to meet the demands of both Redman and Parish. Both are being talked about as requesting 750 each if not more.

I agree though it’s unlikely Parish leaves. It would need to be a deliberate salary dump to let him walk like Grundy and to a lesser degree Acres at Freo.

I completely agree with the majority saying we need to focus on the draft. That doesn’t mean we can’t also hit FA that doesn’t cost draft capital.

A mid 2nd rounder maybe?

And he's only 21

I'm keen to find a good FA but there aren't too many available and very gettable
Yea I reckon that’s his value.

If it were up to me I’d have a no trade firsts or seconds policy. Obviously there are exceptions ie King, Rozee types.

He seems like a very average type player to me. His ceiling is a dependable role player. I don’t see the Wood comparisons, if that’s the type you are describing him as?

You'd be crazy not to sniff around anyone that improves our list especially a star mid who is a FA. I'd put up a big money offer and sit back and let it play out though. Not invest in one of Dildo's melodramas. Redman cops it but if you could get him he'd free up Sinclair to the midfield. Not at $750k though.

We want 1 or 2 genuine best 22 talls this off season.

Key back (weekend showed how we could use that)

Forward/ruck - another obvious one.
This statement aligns with the rambling from Matt Rendell and SOS on trade radio (4 Oct 22) 2 weeks prior to Ratts sacking.

Worth a listen back to if you can handle Rendell’s list ramblings on dif. players. SOS chimes in after the 6min mark

I've got no issue with trading any picks for young players 22 and under. I don't see it any differently to going to the draft. Just means they will impact a little earlier.

I think the chances of finding a better player at pick 30 would be less likely than likely

He looks very Mason Wood like to me. At his age you are only getting a glimpse so have to project a fair bit. Loves a gaol like Wood and can run the wings and a decent size.

Have a look at the goals he kicks too, real snap freaks like Woody.
