I think Sinclair would play for most other clubs.

According to the B&F votes of the good people round these parts, our clear best 8 players this season have been Crouch, Sinclair, NWM, Wilkie, Marshall, Steele, Wood and Owens. Wood might struggle on some lists. You could mount an argument Wilkie may not get a game at Melbourne when all fit. Marshall would have to play forward/ruck on some teams. But the older six out of these eight plus King would probably get a game at every club.

Forgot Sinclair somehow

But we lack speed in the midfield. Very one-paced. Not sure he helps us in that area.

But yes, he can play. Very well.
Yeah I get that. But there’s no point having speed if you can’t even win the footy.

Where’s the speed in Carlton’s midfield?

Who’s lightning quick out of Cripps, Dow, Hewett, Cerra, Kennedy etc?

Yes it’s good to have leg speed, but speed of ball movement and high endurance athletes are more important.

He covers the most distance on the ground, elite skills, and tries his hardest. That’s the foundations of a future AA player
He may run up and back but it would be better if he had the ball in hand , just for reference on the weekend he gained 250mtrs which is pretty poor for the position he plays and normally without an opponent , Yes Mason didn't have his kicking boot on yet he still gained 773mrts .

I think he’s the opposite of what we need. Another slow moving crab. We have to stop bringing in mediocre older guys. Kids kids and kids.
What’s the harm in bringing them in for nothing though? That’s my point.

If he can’t get a game then that’s fair enough, but at least we’d have some backup to call upon. Currently our back up is Jones (perennially injured) & Bytel (not good enough) oh and Seb (getting older).

De Koning getting plenty of praise in the media today.

Will be interesting to see how he performs in the next 24 months.
Getting praise for what exactly. Playing better than he normally does?

Hopefully we can get Nick Bryan from Essendon for half the cost with the same ouputs and development potential.

I'm pretty worried by the time that we eventually/ever draft some talented midfielders and work on that department - it's going to be the same time we say goodbye to our key players i.e Steele, Sincs, Hill, Wilkie, Wood and we'll be stuck in the same cycle of mediocrity. A horrible position to be in.

That's why , with this years draft full of talls , i'd like us to try like mad to get our hands on the Suns first pick to get one of the few highly rated mids.
Otherwise its another mid fwd , who might be able to play mid, or a hbf or a utility.

Just won the Calum Sinclair cup. Carlton should pay us for the service.

He's crap. Had an ok game with some lucky snap goals out of congestion. Not even close to anything you could label as reliably good.

Other than Marshall and Ryder, I would rate him better than any ruckman we have had over the last 10 years.

Who sent Acres packing as steak knives was it the banker Gallaher?

That's the conundrum we're in and why they're draft focused still. The older players have 4 to 5 years left in them and the youth crop need to be peaking by then with a bunch underneath them to fill the void afterwards. Hill and Sincs can go for a while yet and the rest are still only 27/28.
It's why Pou has played every game so far. Gotta get a roll on.

Better than Longer, Hickey, Pierce, Holmes, Abacus, that guy from Geelong and that guy from SANFL isn't saying much. He's crap.

I'm a lot more optimistic about our list but perhaps it is delusion.

KPFs - Hammer, Max and Coops all very young. Not sure if Coops makes it but that's a decent tall setup if all three get to where we see their ceiling. Hayes and Keeler to push for spots too (Keeler maybe a little way away). Then smalls - Higgins only 24.

KPDs - Presumably Wilkie plays longer due to being a late draft, could see him playing well up to ~33 or so; so six years from now. Battle still only 24. Hopefully we can get some serviceability from Doogs for a couple of years until we can see Van Es works out or not.

Ruck - Big Ro has at minimum 4 more good years, maybe a little more. Moose tracking to hit his straps at just the right time.

You can always trade aggressively for mids. Personally I hope we go hard for Parish, I used to think of him as a bit soft but his CP numbers are way up these last few years.

How would Grundy help? Another average player that won't make us better.

Agree I would rather we attempt to grab a cheaper rucking options somewhere else. Grundy cant play forward which has been proven at Melbourne, so we would end up with Marshall getting stuck forward similiar to the Ryder years. Plus you dont spend 1m of your cap on a washed out ruckman, when we still have a very ordinary midfield. If we are to spend big bucks offer it to Darcy Parish at least he fills a need.
