Trading out Wood is the very definition of buy low trade high.

I know he brings a LOT to the club in terms of culture and standards, and he’s playing fantastic football.

But, the trade off in draft capital could be well worth it. Especially if we think we have players who can step straight into that breach (Windhager/Henry).

I’m not sure if it’s a good call or a bad call or even if we have the 1) the ruthlessness to be able to pull that lever 2) the list management expertise to make it work.

But, listening to the Tradies podcast and how Collingwood got Crisp and De Goey for Beams got me thinking that sometimes trading high can work out well.
Beams was like 24 or 25 when he went to Brisbane though. Wood is 30 and simpy wont get the draft capital that would be worth it I dont think.

Lots of whispers about Mckay to Hawthorn ...

Lets see if Essendon double down on Gresham now.
liking this, both these clubs are like turds in a swimming pool lately, hawks have missed henry ratugolea and one other(name escapes me)this season, bombers missing dunkley roma zurhaar and more, would think the loser of this battle will be desperate from a pr perspective & with bzt going to port, essendon are probably into both howard and gresham

Hi All, not posting much in this thread until trade time as I have nothing to add so don't want to waste anybodies time.

However I have been keeping a running count of the most outrageous suggestions posted from honest opinion to what was reported from some random on SEN.

Very happy the way it has ramped up keep them coming guys
1.Phillipou for a 12-14 pick

2. Steele for an 18 y.o potential

3. Alison to North for a 3rd

4. Trade Ross because he once went @50% DE

5. Higgins traded back to Richmond

6. Jack Ginnivan commits to Saints. One post user who heard from a random whose son knows Ginnivan – best one yet.

7. Howard to Sydney and we are paying his salary

8. Billings to Bulldogs for a 3rd and we pay the Salary

Tough one with next year’s draft has such a good crop of mids. We/ I want to use picks now, but wonder if the truly better option is to swap firsts and hope for a crap year for the trading partner. If desperate enough, we get some extras this year and let Toce get to work. This won’t be popular and I’m not sure I could handle no first rounder this year, but if we want a shot at the best mid then that’s probably next year.

Completely goes against the clubs aim for this year
And of course there's always a chance that some of those mids don't progress over the next 12 months.

I don’t get the point of paying Billings and only getting a third rounder for it.

He’s mature depth at worst for us and can play a role if injuries strike

Getting only a third whilst still paying his wedge is insane.

Especially this year when thirds will have little value for drafting a player, and may only really have value to bundle as points if a pick swap can be arranged.

The Dogs currently have 63, 66 and 69! :(

Do the Dogs have a player that we would want?

Completely off topic but triggering to me.
Explain to me why people think Musk is a brilliant guy.
He rebadges his social media business, yet neglects to change the logo when that social media loads.
Marketing 101.
More likely it's showing up because it's being used in the forums software, a placeholder for the time it takes to load the tweet in.

God no, not even near it.

He’s playing well but he’s hit one of those purple patches where he seems to be in the right spot at the right time.F

Good luck to him, I’m happy for him. But he’s not a player I have nightmares about having lost him. He had 3 years at the Dockers where he was fairly underwhelming for much of it.
And they let him go for nothing , was signed on 300k by Carlton which is below the average for a AFL player.
So Fremantle didn't think to much of Acres.

Smith , McCrae , Bont , Naughton , English , Ugle

With the James Jordan rumour, i watched footage from some of his games in 2022. He has some assets which makes me a bit more excited about this news.

It would be a hard team to break into the midfield. It will be interesting to see what happens under our coaching group. As I don't rate Goodwin as a good coach.
Goodwin - thick as 2 short Planks. How he can be a premiership coach and RTB have none is a mystery for the ages. RTB would have won multiple premierships with the Dees list.

We will never know of course, and speculation on my part, but one guy is a footy savant the other a clueless fool.

Good vibes in here 😂

Highmore seems like a good depth keeper, has only played 16 at AFL level, but is nearly our best every week at Sandy so must have good attitude, 25 YO, good size, nice leg, would be on a very cheap contract. Could drop into the backline for Webster/Wilkie/Battle.
With you until nice leg - poor field kick - way too many turnovers - cheap contract definitely a keeper

Billings and 2nd round pick for Bailey Smith. Win/Win. Bevo agrees. Take it to the bank Joffaboy.

So we have gone from trading out Billings, Howard and Gresham - which caused enough disagreements on here - even though 2 didn't make the 22 for our final and Gresh who was wildly inconsistent all year.

To wanting to trade out our elimination final selected starting centre line...

Not really, I just said that I would listen to offers for some of our oldest players, if something valuable was offered I'd consider trading one of them for future gain.

I don't have many untouchables on the list, maybe King, Marshall, Sinclair, Steele, Nas & Owens. Doesn't mean I don't like or rate other players.

If people have Wood or the others as untouchable that's perfectly fine, I can understand the nurturing argument. I just don't know if hanging on to those players will necessarily help us get towards a premiership. I think we'd miss Gresham more than those three long term, so it would want to translate into a pretty good player to replace him.

Trading out Billings seems pointless to me in a shallow draft unless we get a decent future pick.

We were pumped in the midfield against GWS so it's not an area we can really hang our hat on, we clearly need to improve.

Lol the melts will be unreal when gresh goes for a second rounder and coff and billing’s go for SFA
