SwansI don’t think Melbourne would need a mid like Steele. That’s definitely not their weakness, they will probably be concentrating on bolstering the forwards. North would make a lot more sense if we are going to play this game.
Why the hell would Steele want to go to North? He's contracted so he'd have to want to go somewhere. Plus they wouldn't give pick 2 and 3 for him anyway.Everyone has a price, even Steele.
North Melbourne have the capital and bid to try and Draft him initially...

In B4 someone mentions Tim O'Brien as a DFA.
Should be an instant ban to anyone that suggests it
Agree!I’d trade Steele for the right price. A bundle of high quality draft picks, or a 22 or younger star mid, or a mix of the two.
Honestly, I don’t rate Steele as much as I used to. He’s a gun don’t get me wrong, but I’m much more invested in our players King’s age and younger now.
He hasn’t won my heart as captain of the club either, idk, suppose I’m indifferent, and I think we’ll drop off next year anyway. For the right price, it might be a necessary evil to have the resources to build a list around our young core.
Can’t see it happening, but there have been rumblings for a while now.
The name Harley Reid hasn't come across your eyes at all in the past several weeks?I know none of these players.
On a scale of Tom Lee to Phillipou.
Where do they rank in terms of player quality?
The ones in the range we are drafting mateThe name Harley Reid hasn't come across your eyes at all in the past several weeks?
Top 5 this year look high end quality.
We wont be getting pick 4 either way with Henry coming to us now but our pick 12 there are a handful of names. The ones in the range we are drafting mate
Very normal St Kilda things very goodHunterClarksHeadband said Steele is on the trade table according to Jason McCartney
It was then reported on by SEN
We wont be getting pick 4 either way with Henry coming to us now but our pick 12 there are a handful of names.
Caleb Windsor- mid
Harry DiMattia- mid
Riley Hardenman- mid/def
Archie Roberts- speedy half back
James Leake- athletic speedy half back
Luamon Lual- speedy half back
Tim O’Brien for a late second too.21 pages in a day boy do we quickly shift gears in here once our season is done!! Anything of substance in all of that today? Henry and Dow coming, anything else?
The "frees up" argument is usually pretty bad. We saw it with Sinclair on Saturday. He was OK in the midfield but he's not an AA level midfielder, while he is an AA level half-back. So what's the point of "freeing him up" from a position where he's elite to move him to somewhere he isn't?
Same with Marshall. He got in the AA squad as first ruck, but playing as second ruck/tall forward he was nowhere near it. So why would we "free him up" from the position where he was approaching A grade?
Great takes. We finally have players who are possibly the top 1 or 2 players in that position and we want to replace them there with some no namesOur worst patch of footy for the year were the weeks Sinclair had to play midfield, he has far more impact on games from half back.
doggiesTrying to remember who was the last club to trade out a current captain?
I love Steele as a midfielder such a contested gun but I seriously seriously seriously have never rated him as a forward.Steele as a 70-30 mid forward
I thought we were agreed he's not an amazing captain. Gun player though. Either way if we trade him this club is ****ing idioticThey could do with a leader.
I'm willing to bet we'll see a record movement of 1st round picks this year and all that will be turned on it's head.Pick 4 (actually 6 come draft night) wont get us Mckercher, Duurmsa or Curtain as you can see by this top 5 example. Hawthorn have pick 3. Sydney will cough up the money McKay wants to get Norf pick 3.
1 West Coast- Reid
2 Suns- Walter
3 Kangaroos- Curtain
4 Kangaroos- Duursma
5 Hawthorn- Mckercher
Pick 4 will land you in the Watson, Caddy, O'Sullivan range. We wont be selling the farm for any of those guys who aren't even midfielders.
Said all year Steele won’t be captain in 2024 - RTB rides his captains hard and for most of the year Steele hasnt been great, though clearly he had a good game Saturday.I thought we were agreed he's not an amazing captain. Gun player though. Either way if we trade him this club is ******* idiotic
We gunna redraft Coff and Clark with our two top ten picks for Steele?Ok so we trade Steele for 2 top 10 picks.
We pick up a Coffield and Clark.
Steele returns to AA form.
What could possibly go wrong.
No deal
We should look to Cogs at GWS for an example. Was their best player almost exactly like Steele got the captaincy but struggled. His game dropped off too and the leadership was nothing special. Cogs even got dropped I remember how depressed he looked in the AFL doco. Lost the captaincy and now he's a gun again. Team is flying.Said all year Steele won’t be captain in 2024 - RTB rides his captains hard and for most of the year Steele hasnt been great, though clearly he had a good game Saturday.
I get the feeling if Steele isn’t captain he will be an unhappy camper (understandable) hence they might look to move him on for the right offer?
