Ross Lyon - “we want to go the draft”
Jon Ralph - I can only assume St Kilda will trade a first round selection for a broken 31 year old

Good research Jon.
Yep. It’s the big club supporter mentality in the way they think about small clubs. We are Desperate to be semi competitive, we’ll throw anything at a mid, any mid, don’t even need to be good or even below pensioner age.

This guy is surely going to have too look for a new job after writing this - This surely has to be a professional embarrasment that you don't shrug off ??
That's the big problem with footy writers. They aren't held accountable for anything they write. Just move on to the next rumour.

I'm very happy to trade our first round pick for Shiel......

If....

We get their first rounder back.
So 8 for 13 instead of 13 for 31 (ie the pick we would give back) type thing? So 8,12,31 v 12,13. Interesting choice. I’d move up to be honest, perhaps not so every year. You never know what you could do later.

In breaking news , Saints are trading Jack Steele for free coffee if we hook by the Tullamarine oval on the way back from the airport.

Don't think anyone is panicking per se, it is just that everyone is incredulous that Ralph would be either so lazy or so stupid to think

1) His suggestion of Gresham and pick 13 for Sheil would occur

2) anybody with a scintilla of intelligence would believe it.
Yep, precisely.

I assume it’s moving into Pole Position on your Nuffie Trade list?

Not sure if 8 is early enough to nab Sanders.

North should be very happy with that. I reckon the AFL is absolutely cooking these packages by making it up as they go. Meanwhile we are punished for attempting to be semi competitive.

You’d be crazy not to tank or bottom out if they give advantages to sides who cut too hard.

You could purposely draft kids with a big "go home" factor , so that when you trade them, it delays your rise up the ladder, and you continue being crap longer , meaning more advantages.
Trade your priority picks for future picks would help too.

Ok back by popular demand...(well not so popular but you know)

We have had an outsider (AFAIK) taken over the clubhouse lead of nuffie trade of the period

None other than Jon Ralph, with an excellent trade thought up over a long lunch with Robbo and Sam Newman

So lets have a look shall we. No.10 clubhouse leader and will take some high calibre nuffiedom to outdo old strabo eyes.

1.Phillipou for a 12-14 pick

2. Steele for an 18 y.o potential

3. Alison to North for a 3rd

4. Trade Ross because he once went @50% DE

5. Higgins traded back to Richmond

6. Jack Ginnivan commits to Saints. One post user who heard from a random whose son knows Ginnivan

7. Howard to Sydney and we are paying his salary

8. Billings to Bulldogs for a 3rd and we pay the Salary

9. Chito for a 3rd rounder

10. Sheil for Gresham AND pick 13

It mentions we'd send the compo pick back to Essendon for Shiel. That's the last we have to worry about this happening.

The only way we're taking Shiel is if we don't give up any draft capital we would use otherwise.

I'm happy to tell Essendon we'll do that deal, then renege on it after the free trade is done.

Karma's a bitch Dodo.

Dow lured with 3 years, got a bit of Dean Kent about it.

Dow is a better player than Kent. His hands are good, he gets it, he has speed, he reads the play well. The trouble is his kicking disposal.

Improve that and he is a bargain. But at 23 years of age that will require some brilliant player development.

He's technically not wrong since he did state "or something close to it" and hey, a second round pick is close enough right? Lookit moi being a journo and hedging bets in text.

Then again, I'd only be meeting with Bombers to laugh at Dodo, stand back up and walk out again, as I'm a petty bitch. See you later in trade if you want anything champs so you can come to me and bend over. Souless org, shoulda been de-registered, deserves nothing less than utter derision.

To the previous comment about Essendon having histrionic injury concerns, yep, cause they can no longer just jab away the ills and actually have to engage their frontal lobes and thunk about it. Going well as you can see.

Brilliant player development is our strong suit

Look at how we turned ole what's-his-name into an absolute gun

John Ralph is a clickbait generating half-wit. Whenever he comes up with his hypothetical deals, which never actually come to fruition, he always frames the deal in a way that would benefit the bigger club because, well, clickbait. He is the same with his predictions on MRO/tribunal predictions, small club, hang them, big club, nothing to see here move on, football act drivel drivel bullshit bullshit. Worst football pundit going around and that is saying something because there are some mouth breathing, knuckle draggers out there.

Yeah we implemented that whole Benjamin Button development system… each year you’re in the program you regress with skills, poise and confidence.

Revolutionary stuff, by the time you retire you need a trainer to help you decipher which boot goes on which foot. ##science

Remember that Dixon chap heading up our goal kicking department 😍

Dermie teaching leading patterns to forwards.

Surely surely surely for the love of everything that is good and holy we are not going to give up anything bar an extremely late draft pick for Dylan Shiel for Christs sake. Would be one of the dumbest trades in history if we did what the Herald Sun are suggesting.
The key word there is;

HERALD SUN

Not worth wiping your bum with.

Kent's biggest problem was that he could not make good decisions quickly. Dow does not have that problem.
