I'm not. I don’t want us to try and replicate Oliver, I want us to actually evolve with the way the game is going. Footy is moving away from big, one-paced, slow inside mids who don't hurt with ball in hand. There's probably 15 players I'd take before Smillie for our list.

It is still fine to have one main guy as an inside mid, the problem is playing more than one.

Trade Radio just hard a huge guest to talk to

Mitch Morton

Even they have thrown in the towel. Don’t remember trade period ever being this bad. It’s been bad before but **** this is painful.

You listen to trade radio?

Lol we just interviewed him, relax.
Was that in response to me or A11?

If me, I was just hypothesising that he's exactly the sort of player Goodwin would be into. Of course interviewing him doesn't mean we're drafting him, but I'd hope we were simply doing our due diligence rather than having a legitimate interest.

Draper, Lalor and Langford also play a somewhat inside/contest type role, so unless O’Sullivan or Smith get to pick 5/6 then I think we’ll be getting a contest type midfielder with our first.

You don't interview players you don't have interest in.

Waste of good draft capital picking that guy on the inside so early in drafts. Can get guys in the 30's to rookie draft to play that role.

Maybe, maybe not. We generally pick the player we rate as best available with our first pick.

Isn’t Smith an inside mid?

Jagga showed his versatility in this game, spending a lot of time in the forward line and using his elite IQ and movement to find space. His disposal by foot was mostly on point, setting up his teammates inside 50 on a number of occasions.

He's the boy.!

Great awareness already. Instinctive get ball ahead of opponents.
Nice bit of speed. I think I noticed him handball off either side, iinm.?

Lets get up the draft order.

I think they all kind of are just some of them have a dance step, pace and or kicking skills that make them more desirable.

Some are just relying on being big which is risky once they play against men.
There is a difference though. Jagga has been the most prolific clearance winner at stoppage in this age group. He's not like Matt Rowell who's almost exclusively an inside contested beast, Jagga is elite at getting out on the spread, but his 1 wood for sure is his stoppage craft, timing his run at the drop zone of the ruck tap, super clean one touch pickups, ability to navigate traffic to a clean pocket of space and his head always up looking for the right option by hand or foot.

Are we all waiting for Clayton to go public and ‘request a trade’ or he won’t do that till he knows the Dee’s are going to play ball with Geelong?

Sounds like leaks are coming from Geelong. Who would have thought, also sounds like they are trying to drive traction through the media since the doors got closed by the Dees.

Read that article and I'm more confident this deal goes through. Not sure how the nuffie fans will handle it though because we stupidly guaranteed we'd keep him.
They are nuffies, they'll get over it like all nuffies do, they can't help themselves but to get sucked back in. Just look at the mental gymnastics they have done regarding the club the past two years.

They'll be back, paying for their memberships, waving their flags, painting their face and screaming GO DEES in round 1. 🥳

Surely our asking price goes up if they will be getting a discount on him.
Not sure it works like that. He's taking a pay cut if he can leave us. If he stays he isn't. We should be wrapped to get that contract off our books for a future first.

Oh I agree completely you know that, just the club has chosen to have very strong language regarding a potential trade and it'd make them look very dumb to walk it back (I guess I shouldn't be surprised at our club making itself look dumb).

They've already looked dumb twice now, what's a third time gonna matter at this point? 😂
