On Darcy/Jackson, I'd actually like to work away from relying on LJ covering for Swaggy if/when he is injured and start moving more towards Reidy taking the backup role.

Nothing against Dogga's rucking capability, in a pinch if Sean goes down mid game then Luke definitely slots straight in there.

But if the options are Jackson as starting ruck or Reidy starting and LJ backing him up, I'll take the second option every week.

Ah yeah, sorry to all the informed experienced peeps on here but honestly, those types support their team and couldn't give two shits about anyone outside their own bubble. Live and breath their club and ask everyone around them who the bloke in purple wearing number 7 is as "he's killing us".

I can fuly relate to this regards AFLW. My extent of involvement is getting to Freo Oval to watch our girls play live. I occasionally watch an away game streamed. And whilst I follow scores so know in general terms which teams are good, I wouldn't in a million years watch a game between two other teams or get to know their players well. Consequently at games I ask a lot of "who is that number 7 killing us?"
In fact I'd go as far as to say 95% of my footy watching across my life has been like that - juniors, ammos, even WAFL. I only know my team well. AFL with every game live and on demand is the outlier

Medically, I recommend losing a testicle over a kidney. Kidneys are kinda life essential and they tend to die off with age, whereas any one functioning testicle produces enough sperm to repopulate the known universe. You seriously do not need both!

Jackson is a fine ruckman, a weapon even.

But he is sooooo much more than just a backup ruck/forward.

Pidgeon holing him just seems like such a waste for a "unicorn". I'd have him playing every position on the ground if I could.

Hell, lets give him a run on the wing and see how he goes. LOL

Most Fremantle fans thought that Jye Amiss was a long-awaited reincarnation of Matthew Pavlich. But the Dockers treacherous quest to find a reliable key forward threw up a surprise last season when Josh Treacy took his game to another level in attack. Dubbed ‘Cyclone,’ the 22-year-old kicked 45 goals in 20 matches to finish fourth in the Dockers best and fairest. Treacy’s form was so good in 2024 that the Dockers essentially parked their interest in Sydney spearhead Logan McDonald and turned their attention to Shai Bolton instead. Don’t be surprised if Treacy becomes the AFL’s premier key forward next season.

If there is a role for just one big bodied ball winner in Fremantle’s midfield, the question becomes when does that spot belong to Erasmus and not Nat Fyfe? Time is ticking for the 2024 Simpson medallist as best afield in Peel’s WAFL premiership to take the next step.

How the Dockers approach head coach Justin Longmuir’s contract negotiations will be one of the fascinating decisions Fremantle makes this year. Longmuir signed a one-year contract extension on the eve of the 2024 season, a vote of some confidence. But the Dockers failed to make finals after losing their final four games of the season. It leaves Fremantle in the exact same position as it was a year ago with Longmuir out of contract heading into 2025. Now the Dockers have to decide whether to let him coach under pressure or negotiate another short-term extension to keep the wolves at bay. Fremantle has the list to play finals so it’s up to Longmuir to get the best out of it.

He might not start the season in the seniors but don’t be surprised if first round draft pick Murphy Reid is given a crack at the role given he was described as the classiest player in the draft. It’s also understood the Dockers have floated the idea of playing veteran Michael Walters behind the ball to give Fremantle some poise.
