Crazy as it seems but we need the bye.

Absolutely. It was apparent during the “praccy” games that we hadn’t tapered, and the heatwave exacerbated the situation. Vossy confirmed in the presser, the intention was always to go hard early and regroup/freshen at the bye. Made sense to do so. Add the six day back up, I know they had five.

Our talls have been leading the way, with our smalls and mediums all a few percent off. Reckon there is massive upside to come.

So looking forward to Weitering back to structure our defence. It is sad that we are so reliant and are not well enough drilled by the coaches. I expect we will play the four talls with Marchy and JW joining McGovern and Kemp. Gov can play “small” and Kemp is mobile enough to. We have a season to gel the combination rather than trying to pull it together at the back end of the year.

Personally, would hold Weitering back another week. Larkey is a tough, mobile opponent who would fully test Weiters injury. Should have Norf’s measure regardless and think we should be conservative here.

We’re also the first team to be 2-0 after round one 😌

Pffft.... it's not even the first time we have been 2-0 after round 1 ;)

Back in the late 70s and early 80s they played one of the round 3 games as a festure season opener before round 1. In '79 we beat Essendon in said matchup, then won round 1 as well to sit on top of the ladder at 2-0 after round 1

We went on to win the premiership yhat year so hopefully it is a good omen.

Our key barometers are…

Cripps (always has been)
Acres (one of our best IQ players)
Pressure acts particularly from our smalls (fog owies durdin)
At least One or both H and Charlie firing

Last year was the emergence of TDK….hes a special kind of player. He could easily be a superstar of the competition.

Tigers still have plenty of experience and if they can keep them healthy they will surprise some good sides

Our form is somewhat like the start of last year, but with a few added benefits

Moving the ball with more speed, but think we have started too corridor focused, when at times we have open space/players a little wider

Like early last year, we have stepped too far from our contested/clearance game, but our rebound attack and scores from turnovers looks better

Our back arc actually looks like our best area, despite the simple errors of a couple of players

Our mids as a whole look like they are on their heels far too often and while I understand we need another marking option forward, surprised Kennedy has been used sparingly in the middle

Forwards are by far our worst performed line if you remove our tall targets. Martin, Motlop and Elijah will certainly lift the xfactor

Still think Pitto will play a role when fit, especially against ruckmen like Nankervis

But, here we are 2-0 with 2 games to come against sides we should beat

I don't care how we win... whether we fall over the line like tonight or put 100 points over our opposition.

A win is a win is a win. 4 points thank you very much.
It makes a difference mate.
Now I'll only watch the mini.😉

He had to be after his third quarter

The set shot on an angle from 65 out, followed by the attempted speccy at the top of their goalsquare were coach killers. Will learn, but prone to tripping over his ego.
there were many who made some incredibly poor decisions last night.

Wrong to single Kemp out.

Got the win, who cares how.

Reckon they were tired - emotionally and physically - after snatching the Lions' win at the Gabba...

Great time for a week off.

Agree intensity was conspicuously absent...and we were far too cute at times, but weirdly we stuck tackles as well as I have ever seen. Set the tone early on Dusty, earned ample htb frees, probably should have had another half dozen called but dropping the ball seems to be a-ok now.

The Hewett suplex on Nankervis was a particular favourite.
other than Young.

Have seen a ton of commentary on socials/bigfooty from opposition about our 'wins'. These people can dress it however it pleases to help them feel better.

These are the facts: We are 2-0 after two brutal games missing 6/7 best 22 players. We now have 15 days off. Marchbank, Weitering, Motlop, and hopefully Martin and Walsh will return over the next fortnight.

We need to go 11-9 from here on to make finals. 14-6 to secure top 4.

We are primed for a tilt at the flag. Let's go.

Gee what a tough game to watch.

I tipped Carlton by 40 and in a funny way I would almost rather we lost by more haha. Hard going down by a small margin on the wire.

Umpiring was up and down both ways and certainly not the reason we lost. 1st free to Lynch was technical only, quite soft. 2nd one was a howler. Beyond that he contributed bugger all. Bolton pathetic.

Personally I thought Cripps, Saad and TDK were brilliant. McGovern and Newman very good too.

Proud of the Tiges for having a dip with 3 down on the bench but to be honest Prestia has been cooked for a while and should retire. We need to move on from blokes like Pickett and McIntosh who are also past it and taking a kid's spot. Also don't know why Mansell played at all, he's a VFL footballer and his ridiculous poster demonstrates that.

Thought Balta & Vlastuin were great.

Blue will be even tougher with Weitering and Walsh back. Personally I think they have what it takes to win the flag - great bookends and engine room.

EDIT: Oh and gutter for Gibcus who looks to have done an ACL after missing a full year with a severe hammy. Had such promising 2022.

I'm so happy to have won our first two games - it makes the upcoming weekend so much more relaxing and enjoyable.

Now the team can have a rest and bring back more players - if and only if, they are fully fit.
What a great position to be in as a club :D

So who can come in?
EHollands, Martin, Motlop and Marchbank?
Give Weitering another week if there's any doubts.

The hard question is who to omit? Most likely Fantasia, but after that it's really hard.

Hollands, Martin, Motlop and Weitering all locks imo if fit. Marchbank/Kemp is a toss up for the coaches - I expect Kemp to get better with Weitering back but feel like the coaches favour Marchy

Both games we have had some with quite minimal contributions. Ollie again last night did not get enough of it for a wingman and this week didn't get the tackle numbers.

Cotts and Cunners very in and out but did have their moments.

Owies bagging two takes the blowtorch off him.

Not likely Orazio will hold his spot with Jessie and Martin coming back.

Tough for little Durds with only one quarter but ditto for him I am thinking.

Kennedy playing mainly forward is hurting his numbers, he is an inside bull IMO and may struggle to hold his spot.
I hope not. Like to see him with a bit more onball rotation.

Jack Carroll. Equal 2nd most prolific mid for us with 20 touches. Has a touch of class and poise around the ball. Is growing and growing with each game under his belt. From the footage in the rooms after the game you can see Cripps has taken Carroll under his wing and loves him.

Unexpected and welcome addition. They clearly like him, as he was straight into the centre square last week and this. With the big boys, too - setting up with TDK, Cripps, Hewett, etc. Didn't look out of place, either.

Always a bit of heart in mouth with Young, but he's held two of the best bigs in the comp to not much.

Lynch a non factor last night without the benevolence of the men in turquoise.

Keep at it Youngy.
He cost us 3 or 4 goals with some very poor efforts. Positioning was terrible, inability to take the body worse. First out next week if Weiters is back.

Charlie Curnow is always a highlight... that holding the ball was just moronic!
Really can't afford to be so unaware....their was no hurry to play on with a bloke hot on your heels!
We now CC loves to play fast but using that thing between your ears would him a great player not just a very good player.

The tiggies autopsy page is so funny, the only reason they lost is the umpires!!

Every post is about it, they have the most deranged posters known to man.

I’m loving their mental dissonance!!!!

Absolute bunch of nuffies, second only to Pies supporters as the worst fans. Last week they were deriding their triple premiership coach Hardwick. Hopefully they don’t bottom out completely and stay in no man’s land for a long time.

I was there last night. We were jogging and pressure was poor. Played as Individuals.

It’s early in season and a long way to go but the standard of effort needs to improve.

Keep doing this and you develop bad habits
It's really interesting - I actually though the opposite at the game. I thought our intensity/effort/pressure was really good.

To win disposals +33 and yet still be ahead in tackles by 15 is a very good effort. Thought we generally also stuck our tackles far better than we have in the past. Really just thought our execution was poor and our f50 entries were far too predictable.

Carroll was pretty good last night.

Nothing flash, got involved.

Love Curnow and part of what makes him great is that he does play on instinct, but geez...did anyone else get flashbacks to the R23 Collingwood game from 2022...

Team is up in a close game, just go back and take your 30 at the very least.
