there are multiple options for the types of players we want to target, so we just might see us trading down, depending on who we prioritise.

Grlj is the only one I want who doesn't really have a close alternative.
Lindsay is obviously the best kick and would be great to have, but I don't feel as strongly about picking him.

All the rest - as good as they are, I'd be just as happy with their alternate picks, of which there are 2-3, and we could comfortably pick up those with our second pick.

it's going to be a good draft for us.

Reckon Cumming a tad overrated here. Not exactly the inside bull people making him out to be.
I don’t think he’s really been described in those terms. “Prototype modern-AFL midfielder” were the terms used. Ultra clean, athletic, hard-running, marking, impact-per-possession, goal-kicking midfielder. I watched one of his SANFL games and he has got a huge leg. Put through a set shot post high from outside 50.

Can see Essendon taking him and Sharp, unfortunately.

Why would we used our 3rd pick to upgrade Blanck when we can use our last pick?

There may be someone we have hidden away or Willo junior that we can take with this pick which will wind into the early 50s or even late 40s depending on how many clubs pass in the 3rd round and/or elevate rookies.
I'm insinuating that we trade back if Cumming, Sharp or Grlj doesn't slide to our pick

You will be more impressed with his frwd craft in the highlights, he's very good. AA frwd to boot. But as a inside mid ? Way too high draft capital. Plenty of other options unless you're getting him as a frwd as much as a mid.

Broader draft question - why is it always so late in November? I am presuming it has something to do with schooling being over by then? Otherwise it doesn't make sense being so far off the rest of the off-season list management time period and almost 2 months after the combine.

Year 12 exams.

One argument for raising the draft age would be that you could hold it earlier.

Why not 76?

Twomey just said today on Gettable draft questions show that there is a chance that Greeves is available for the Hawks at their second pick

Mentioned that Farrow, Lindsay and Sharp likely best fit for Hawks at 10, did also mention Hawks when asked about Dovaston but it was more they are in his range

12 months ago Ollie Greeves was projected to be a top 5 pick, but his lack of speed and defensive deficiencies are likely to drop him back towards the 15-25 draft range.
I'm certainly no draft expert, but I think there will be better available at our first pick.
I personally rate Cumming, Farrow, Dyson, Grlj, Lindsay, Dovaston, O.Taylor, Phillipou, and Hibbins-Hargreaves ahead of Greeves. (Some of those mentioned won't be available at our selection)

My biggest concern is that Greeves won't be a good fit for our midfield, and might not have much scope for improvement in his game.

Greeves would be a fantastic pick with 22.

He has weaknesses but those can be worked on in a good system. If you improve his contested work, he'll be an AFL player.

At Pick 10 those weaknesses are too significant but later on I'd take the punt. Not sure he'll be available.

Exactly my view, VandoHawk.

Take a player with more upside, that better compliments our list with pick 10, and if Greeves happens to slide to 22 then he would be worth the punt if we deem he's best available.

that is hillarious, I thought only reason going near him is that he is a contested beast in mould of worpel, if not, why would you go near him, add to fact he is meant to be slow, we are after a classy midfielder that can win his own footy, distribute and negate others walking out of centre square when we do not have the footy, you need speed for that too as well as good hands, foot skills.

so confusing, I do not understand any of this, we had picks 9, 31, 42, 43, perhaps in hindsight we would have kept all those as you are saying there will be good players later on and difference between pick 9 and 10 is alot whereas later on not as much, although picks 42 & 43 are more risky. So perhaps what you are saying is trading pick 10 for 2 later picks, having 3 picks in top 25. I would be surprised, I think one of targets like sharp/farrow/cumming should be still there at pick 10. if you give example of players that will be available later on will help, but anyway we do not have pick 31, 42, 43 anymore, you would have to trade with someone again.

I really like Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier if he's available at a later pick if we take one. Outside of that there's not a lot i like that are predicted to go outside the top 40-50 with the exception of Riley Onley and Marcus Krasnadamskis
Hun phantom today has Grlj sliding to our first pick.
I'd like that, but he'll be gone by our selection I would of thought.

It the strategy here to have names so convoluted that trying to pronounce them renders BT in a permanent fugue state? If so - I like it!

I would take Riley only.

He'll just call them all "Smith" and tell them to get used to it, 'cos they're in Australia now!

Intersting to see how many have slid from this prediction at the start of the year, some not even in Cal's recent top 30.

Those who shot up into the top ten obviously have had a great year and deserved it, but a few either been poor, injured or in Max King's case probably hidden by the swans so the bid comes lower.
