Took this pic from a Roo fan's draft ranking from Early Oct...

useful to see Basic attributes of most draftable players. Still hoping we can do a deal with WCE or GWS so we can snag a mid-30's pick as well to get some good sliders but if a good mid is on board, not needed.

Sure I have no problem with people who have seen these kids play and have educated opinions, I just giggle at the backflips.
Everyone can have an opinion about a kid just don’t go down the “We are a laughing stock if we pick this kid” route.

If you took my previous post as a “Don’t come here and lecture us on how to behave when you know nothing” thing, then that’s on you.
I am not lecturing anyone, I just gave my opinion about the clockwork nature of the draft thread.
Yeah I’m not it was a general statement.
Agree when we speak about these players we are talking about young men who regardless of our thoughts are under consideration as potentially elite footballers so our conduct should be kept respectful. Essentially I see us as being in agreement but simply coming from opposite starting points.

Reckon he will. Only tigers with picks earlier than us into him. I think they'll take Robey, X. Taylor or Cumming at their picks

I feel like Robey + Taylor or Grlj makes the most sense for them. They'd be building a physically imposing midfield unit with Lalor, Robey and Smillie. With Taranto and Hopper still around they'd need some outside runners to compliment them all.

Hope so. Will be a star.

Serial Griller
Haha great nickname.

What is it that makes you confident on Grlj? As a mid?

Perhaps I'm just overly weary of smaller players based primarily off athletic ability and who's yet to demonstrate significant ball winning ability and was underwhelming at the Championships.

I just feel that sums this draft up a bit, picking early players with significant traits but plenty to work on. Normally I feel that's night 2

Tigers fans are convinced after listening to Giechen they're taking best available which be Robey/Cummins and Taylor. Grlj was the speed need.

Xavier Taylor is probably my fav prospect this draft but won't get to us and hardly a need. Think he's locked to tigers

I just see a Serong/Brayshaw type in there.

I have a sneaky suspicion we might pass up on Grlj if he's available at our pick or even trade back and grab someone else.

Reading between the lines Twomey has never really associated us with the Griller. He's always maintained that Grlj would "either go at the Tigers pick or all the way down to the Giants pick".

Perhaps we're not as interested in him as some may have mentioned.

If Blues are willing to trade 11 for North's 25+F2

Wouldn't 11+54 for our 22+F2+59+66 be equal...

Scum seem to more likely to get pick 9 for 21+27+30, maybe they demand Blues 43 & 54 back as well.

Pick 11 should give us better chance of landing Dovaston and Grlj

Maybe we can package 10+11 to get one of picks from 4-7 + late picks

Cal Twomey has said that we have some interest in moving down the order.
Anyone heard anything regarding that?

Risky. It's never worked out for anybody when completed on the night.

Carlton traded back to take Liam Stocker and cut him after 2 years.
West Coast traded back to take Campbell Chesser and after 4 underwhelming seasons, just traded him for a token draft pick.

Draft wishlist:
  • Pick 10: Sam Grlj (MID/DEF)
  • Pick 22: Ollie Greeves (MID)
  • Pick 62: Oskar Ainsworth (FWD/MID)
  • Pick 76: Jacob Marron (DEF)

Providing Sharp and Cumming are gone, I'd be just as interested to see what we could get from North for pick 10 tbh.

I like Dovaston, but I'm still interested to see Hill in year 2. And I think Cody Anderson is a watch for forward pressure also.

10 for 25, 46 and F2.

Recruiters and teams appear really divided on this draft. With 22 and 25 I think we could get a look at NHH, Greaves, Marsh, Barker and Oscar Taylor.

I've looked at clips of Greaves again. I'm just not sure how we can pass on him if there in the 20's. He's a smart footballer, very good by foot and hand, keeps the ball moving which means he's damaging. I can imagine the reservations on Newcombe if he was ready for the draft at 18 would have been similar to Greaves.

Just get this guy into the system and I think he'll surprise with how decent a runner he is. How damaging he is with his possessions. A big inside mid who is a very good kick, compliments Newcombe and allows Ward and Mackenzie to be more outside.

Norths F2 will be very handy next year.
