All i can think is that we must think we'll definitely get the guy we want if we shift back from 10 to 12 and if we're considering going up from 22 to say 17 it's because the guy we want we don't think will make it.. fairly simple really.. the interesting part becomes are we trying to get 2 different guys around the same range...

Don't see how we do that if it's Grlj.

Interesting Twomey has suggested we have spoken with GWS on a swap back for a F2.

Giants 10. Hawks 12, F2.

GWS have been linked to Oscar Taylor for a while. Perhaps we think North wouldn't take Grlj.

North taking another mid would genuinely be the most damning thing about their program.
Not a serious club if they do, deadset.

Not so sure. Live trading means anyone could grab North’s pick and take Grlj, who is an absolute steal at that point.

I think it’s more likely a contingency if Grlj isn’t available. Pickett, Taylor, Lindsay are all still possibilities with a slide back.

Why would North trade for that pick with a player clearly in mind then just trade it again?

Yup. You do that trade with GWS then GWS will take Pickett, North will take Grlj and you take Taylor/Lindsay. North don’t want a tall and have specifically traded up to grab Pickett. They’ll just go next best available.

I feel like the club only does that if Grlj is unavailable, or if we rate Taylor higher, which would be a bold call.

If we want 2 teens picks why not do the eagles trade. Get pick 49 from port for 66 and f3, then we could offer 10 for 13/34. Package 22/34/49 to suns for 15.
Note: I didn’t see the GWS deal if true you probably have to take that to get an f2 for a 2 pick slide is hard to pass up.

Back to my idea
On Twomeys draft Picks 13 and 15 become 18 and 20 instead of 14 and 27.
Pick 18 we could take Lindsay before the dogs and pick 20 marsh as dogs won’t take him. Schubert Barker NHH Greeves also would still be available. You potentially lose out on the first pick but open up greater options for pick 2 and you protect 2026 assets.

North I think are trading in for Pickett to address a big need.

It may very well be that we are happy with either of Taylor or Grilj. Get one and with suns 15 grab the unknown player.

Interesting that we are looking at trading up to get either the Sun's or Lion's teens pick. That's Picks #17 and #18, only 4 or 5 spots up with a deficit of around 193 (~ 200+) which we don't have this year so it would be F2. That's a lot for only a few spots and in a draft where the spots will be at a premium..

takes the fun out when you have less picks next year, look at our original picks 9, 31, 42, 43, would have been so much fun picking project players for those last 3 picks and hopefully see them become guns. recruiters must not have the confidence these days to pick gems with late picks. I do not mind pick 22, if we do what is proposed, we will not get greeves, who we have been into. I thought everyone is saying Grlj sliding is already very good, some even think schubert sliding to 22, that will be hard not to knock back in favour of greeves.

Doesn't quite make sense. Why give giants and norf spot before us? Just for a f2 which wouldn't be that Good anyway. Pick in the 30's. Unless, we use it with 22 to gold coast for their teen pick??? But, I heard norf ARE interested in Grjl!! Weird shit going on.

Greeves will not slide to our pick 59. Everyone agrees, very strange what is being proposed, that appears to be a backward step.

I rate Hibbons Hargreaves as a finisher and think in the right environment he could be just as good a player as O. Taylor.
I’m not sold on Greeves. He might develop into something but I worry how his game translates defensively..

A summary of our drafts since sam mitchell was announced coach in 2021.

2021: Josh Ward, Sam Butler, Connor MacDonald, Jai Serong - I think we can say that 4/4 players will be best 23 players in 2026.
2022: Cameron Mackenzie, Josh Weddle, Henry Hustwaite, Jack O'Sullivan, Bailey Macdonald - Weddle is a massive hit. Frenchie will be best 23 in 2026 and you can see his potential. Hustwaite and MacDonald are good depth. I'd say that's an above pretty good draft haul.
2023: Nick Watson, Will McCabe, Bodie Ryan, Calsher Dear - again a great draft haul, 2 best 23 and a developing key back. Ryan signs on for another year.

2024: Noah Mraz, Cody Anderson - too early to judge, I dont think they will be best 23, but hope they turn into good depth players.

overall out of 15 draft picks since 2021, I would say 8 have turned into best 23 players, 1 delisted, 3 depth players and 3 are unknown. Thats a great strike rate.

while i have my preferences, im very confident in the recruiting team

Noah Mraz might not be best 23 next year but he was more than impressive on the form he showed at box hill, was our best defender.

I agree just floated the best way to upgrade 22 if that’s a better result in aggregate. To keep 10 what about trading f3 (ours or sydneys) to port for 49. They want out of this draft anyway. Trade f2 to dogs for 33 who want future assets for butters (spoiler he’s going to the dogs). Still keep our f1 and an f3. Use 22/33/49 to suns for 15.
