Yeah 0 chance we slide back, we never rate later picks and we have a history of trading up. Be absolutely no sense in us sliding back to get a pick in the 20s or 30s when we don't rate them. Better chance we package up 7-8 and try move up
Yeah agree, but really hope we don't do that. First round looks pretty even.

If there's a player (i.e. Latrelle) that we have our eye on but don't have the right pick to get him, and we think the guys around our pick are pretty even, any chance we talk to Hawthorn and swap 7 + 37 for 10 + 22? (Might have to throw that 2027 future third their way to sweeten it a bit more I suspect...)

Schubert talk is literally the same as when everyone had us locked in for Harry Armstrong last year.

So called draft experts think we dont score enough so they think we automatically need another young key forward.

Besides, Schubert is just another puss Harry Lemmey.

Why would the Hawks do that though? Even with the future third they're getting less than what they're giving quite likely.

Could be a player they want available at our pick but less likely to be available at their pick. Same reason I was thinking for us moving up pick 37 to pick 22.

Also worth noting picks 23, 24, 28, 29 and 36 won't exist so it's really the Hawks moving back 10 picks instead of 15.

I did say we'd have to throw in a sweetener or course, I know there'd be like 25% chance they'd accept.

Still maintain there's far more chance we trade up this year than back (if anything). We go after who we like even if the pick is earlier than expected. Also don't think there's anything particularly exciting from 15ish onward, so IMO we'd be risking missing out on someone we really like for the sake of picking from a group of players we're not that excited by.

No surprise both Sharp and Greeves had "illnesses" (;)) and couldn't test at the combine. Footballers, not athletes.
Wonder how much the combine results really mean to recruiting? Taylor once said he hasn’t generally paid it much attention

We score plenty enough, just not actual goals.
The shorter we are forward the better. Our team sees a tall and bombs it on their head

Pretty sure on G&G podcast a couple years back he said he looks a bit at 2k times to get a gauge on workmate or if someone is shithouse in that, but otherwise doesn't gaf

JT did say they loved Koltyn "Personality hire" Tholstrup winning the agility test then talking to the other blokes/advising them about shoe choice for it or something. Leadership!!

A bit of a summary of Cal Twomey's latest phantom form guide with the academy/father sons removed:

1. Willem Duursma
2. Cooper Duff-Tytler
3. Sullivan Robey
4. Xavier Taylor

The above I think it's safe to say pretty much zero chance of getting through to our picks.

5. Dyson Sharp
6. Sam Cumming
7. Adam Schubert
8. Sam Grlj
9. Jacob Farrow

At least one and maybe two or three of the above are likely to be there at our picks. For me, having watched all of the champs games when they were on and not much since, I would agree with everyone that Schubert is pus. No intensity and a two-handed ball drop ffs.

I love Sharp. I know the contested types are out of fashion, but I thought he was fantastic in every game. He's actually a very well-rounded player with super high IQ; he consistently stood up in big moments for SA and is a prime reason they were so hard to beat. Luke Hodge vibes for me. The only thing lacking is that acceleration/burst. The big hope of getting through for me.

Cumming I also like as a well-balanced inside/outside type. Like maybe a Butters or Anderson, but not at that level.

Farrow apparently got better as the year went on so I would need to watch some more of him.

Not keen on Grlj. Butcher/headless chook vibes for me.

There are quite a few later in the rankings I really like but will have a go at that in a bit.

You’re right. That’s where I heard it. An interesting interview, if pretty straight. I liked the comprehensive list of reasons why he didn’t select Max Gawn when at Collingwood.

Langford's "burst" was questioned heavily through last year's draft - and turned out to be more or less a non-factor on the field at AFL level.

Hope we don't over-compensate and pick quick players for the sake of quick players.

I can see us picking Sam Cumming with one of our firsts. Seems like a JT type.

I think it means jack shit, but if youre going to test crap athletically you shouldn't bother. Could be the difference between you sliding or not with some clubs. Player agents would be the ones making this call.

Is Elijah Hollands worth looking at? Haven’t seen much of him to be honest

I think pure inside mids are the easiest position to fill on a list, and I think the days of using high draft picks to fill those spots are long since past (unless those players have another string to their bow - e.g. being able to play forward like Petracca or Humphrey). Just this week we've had Hobbs and Phillips delisted - two young inside mids taken with high draft picks - which shows there will always be competent, one-dimensional inside mids available cheaply if your list really needs them.
I would call lNeale and zMerret, and the Daicos boys, as inside mids... They can all dominate inside, and weave thruout traffic.

Not so much the battering rams types. But with class.

Yeah big no on Scubert. Looks like a donkey and plays like one. We pick him and there will be a Riot. Good kicks absolute must. Preferably one who loves a goal. Doesn't look like a lot of star power like the last drsft, so just bring in 2 kids who can hit a target and be solid role players.

He’s got a touch of class for sure. Makes things happen.

Dunno if he’s worth the risk tho considering us wanting Clarry out so badly.
From what I've heard there is zero chance we'd want to touch this guy. Especially after showing Oliver the door.
