They also went after Allen and Reid and looked at Humphrey, Petracca and Butters.

They were pretty arrogant in their approaches all year, so pretty funny they wound up with nothing.
And there in lies there problem. that has brought them to where they find themselves now.

Arrogance leads to infighting... and that leads to all sorts of falling outs. With clubs pulling in all different directions.

100%.

Desperately need young talent, needed to actually rebuild rather than fooling themselves, offered overs for a 30 year old that doesn't want to be there.

Dons fans: wE DrEw A LiNe iN ThE SaNd
Dons didn't need more picks this year.

But they will next year, if they want to win some top-line free agents.

Hirdy really sounded way out of touch last night, Re the modern game.

If he ever wants to coach again, I would say he should follow Buckley and look for an assistants job at one of the recent stronger clubs.

Therein lies the issue with jHird. He speaks with authority and is quite articulate and people think he knows his stuff.

But so much of what he says is out of whack or just plain dumb. I very much doubt he even watches that much footy.

Everytime I hear him talk it still feels like he's got a massive chip on his shoulder.

That and unfortunately the whole WADA/ASADA stink will never go away.

You're right Essendon should have hired him again

Just testing

Max Heath
Brody Mihocek
Changkuoth Jiath
Jack Steele.

So are we assuming we will use 7, 8 and 37 at the draft and the next 2 picks on White and Sinnema? Is that right?
Lots of variables.

We only need 3 more senior players, including rookie upgrades, to make the minimum 36. We can add as many as 5 more senior players. Will all depend on what we like and then who we decide to upgrade etc (if anyone). White will be at least a late pick, Sinnema could be a rookie pick. Then we have Berry as a cat B as well.

Wouldn't be shocked to see us have a lower total list number given we're paying Oliver as well.

whose this Berry kid?

Other clubs searching for Irish guns while we're hellbent on looking for basketballers lol. Will this be the 4th basketball dud we've wasted our time looking for?
I actually reckon Joel Smith could have been really good if it weren’t for the constant injury.

Or the :nose::beercheers:.

Don't mind having a ping at a basketballer; did you know PENDLES HAS A BASKETBALL BACKGROUND?! The next games record holder is just waiting to be discovered!
Gaelic guys probably have better chance of making it, and more versatility than being KPPs, but even so there's what half a dozen across the league getting regular games?

Probably much cheaper to get a rookie bballer from Aus than recruit from Ireland, especially with our soft cap situation

Only watched this game and need to see more but impressive imo. Plays fast, love the attack and run, hard at it, good instincts under pressure, good hands, kicking seems acceptable.

Don't think it's the same in this case. This kid played footy until under 16 before moving to the USA. It's not like he's purely a basketball convert. He's already developed skill sets.

Yeah I decided to skate past the other issue Smith presented.

I don’t know if this is interesting or not. On the Gus and Gawny podcast when Petracca was a guest (I didn’t really warm to Trac on this one as it happened) they were talking to Trac about his basketball background because and all of the guys he had played with / against for real or just for fun. He was asked which AFL player he thought was the best basketball player and he reckoned Jack Watts. Said he was freakishly gifted.

Watts apparently good at all sports - one of those people who can give something a go for laughs and get the hang of it right away.

Watts was also particularly fond of swimming if I recall.

Yeah looks good with his run and attacking mindset. Kicking as you say looks ok but not a huge weapon from that video.

Was just wondering something - who we pick at 7/8 might depend on where we see Langford/Lindsay/Windsor/Tholstrop and even Culley playing long-term. If we feel they are all mids, then we should target a half-back distributor for sure.

But if say Lindsay is seen as a half-back (or Windsor, shudder) or Tholstrop is only viewed as a half-forward then we probably should look at genuine mids.

Rings a vague bell.

He’s only 34. Could we get him in?

I’d honestly love him back at the club in some token role. Just seems a great person.

One of the most unfairly maligned players I can remember - and a lot of the fault is our own club of course.
