Too expensive and way too much a risk. JUH is asking for trouble.

If you want to keep Warner we are not going to have ANY picks to play with this year, we need more not less for our matching
Anyone that wants JUH has no idea what he has been up to , i thought we had a no Richard Cranium policy

Was the hardest one to pick a range, clubs may regret it however he was one dimensional and that would scare clubs taking him early. Probably went the right range looking back, I just thought a club would have punted on him earlier
Didn't do a massive amount on Thursday , but i know his coach and team mates were happy the way he attacked it and brought the ball to ground and the smalls thrived on it

Stephens - should have been fired for that. Logan was an awesome pick at the time, only cos North are idiots.

Only Florent annoys me - never said a bad word on gus and Campbell ok. Florent shops at BCF so you’re no chance of bumping into him lol.
Florent is an example of what I boringly talk about. Took almost 3 years to develop a body that could compete.
After playing 9 games in his first year, Florent hasn't missed a game in the next 8 years. Thats a VERY good return. He can play halfback, wing and could contribute both fwd and inside.
Sorry if that bores or annoys you both.

Stephens was a bust. Kinnear tried to trade down to get him, but there were no buyers.
Kinnear drafted him on a needs base rather than best available - Kinnear has acknowledged this mistake

Its pretty clear that hes a fantastic talent.
Whatever hes doing may mean he comes very cheap. If the Swans (and Sydney - out of the melbourne bubble) can get him out of his bad habits, He could be a fantastic recruit.
Im sure the Swans are investigating all aspects

Jesse Hogan had massive personal troubles - GWS got him cheap and now he is one of if not the best tall fwd in the comp

JUH's troubles are much, much worse than Hogan's.

He makes Jake Stringer look like a saint at this point.

Hogan had cancer along with other serious injury issues.

I dunno what Ugle-Hagan's issues are but they must be pretty serious given the Bulldogs don't seem to even want him in the building.

Bad habits is putting it very mildly

It would have to be Very cheap and I’m talking a throwaway pick here. The gamble is all on us. I’m still not sure I’d be willing to gamble on JUH

There were those in the no camp on Joe Daniher, too many injuries etc never gets on the field.

In the end he went well at the Lions and part of a flag. Backfired miserably.

Different with JUH and his off field issues but you never know. Get his act together there is no question he has the ability.

You're wrong about Daniher that trade was never happening thanks to Dodo.

I'm sure you would of been on-board at the time that Dodo was asking pick 5 and Heeney or Blakey

Not sure you are right.

After rejecting a Swans deal that would’ve seen two first-round picks fall into their lap in exchange for losing Daniher.

Not saying we do it at all.. Simply saying that hes worth investigating. Hes not the only young 20yo with issues. He won't be the only 20yo that gets over those issues (if of course he does)

Does anyone know what his issues are? From reading on here, Ive no idea

🔫

That should be enough to rule him out

Not sure how I missed this.

[cracks knuckles]

King and Chamberlain will help out up forward, as outside or wing options. Maybe King can develop more of an inside game.

I'm not sure then we go for a KPF, even though these guys aren't giants. Hopefully Buller stays fit and realises potential, and if Snell, Edwards come on, that allows Tmac to stay forward more.

Carmichael isn't really a need, but if he can work a bit on one-on-one defending, he may be able to help offset Cunningham and Fox retirements in a couple of years, and especially if Paton or Leidler don't work out.

Assuming we might have one more ND and say 2 rookie picks after the academy matches...

At least 1 KPD - With McCartin maybe forward more in future, with Francis, Hamling and especially Rampe on limited footy lifespans, and not being able to completely rely on Melican's body, we need to keep drafting key defenders, or pick up another mature ager somewhere. Or 1 of each, if we lose 2 of Rampe, Francis, Hamling.

At least 1 inside mid, a contested machine.

With the last pick, could go another project ruck to develop behind Green, or if Paton doesn't work out and Leidler doesn't look the goods, another small/med lockdown defender, or just grab a KPF if Buller doesn't realise potential and the likes of McLean, Logan plateau.

Ask Rory Lobb by all reports.

There's a simpson meme where Homer asks marge to close her eyes and then she opens them and and he is pointing something at her

So did he point a water pistol at someone, or his ****? sorry not up on all my simpsons memes
Or.. are you both saying he pointed a gun at someone (Lobb)?? In what context? Have charges been laid or at least an AVO??
Or.. did he shoot someone???
Not trying to defend him at all
If it was a water pistol, I think people may be over reacting, If it was his ****, then kick him hard in the balls, If it was a gun then go to the police
Or is this just the AFL sweeping another major issue under the their already lumpy rug

I read gun in the change rooms pointed at lobb, players refusing to play with him and has done other stuff with poor behaviour etc

could all be complete horseshit

I agree though depending what's true, what he did etc , talent wise he is worth a look. But club would know the real stories before they got such a player

whoever we draft, can they be of the barrel chested variety and not a skinny flanker type.

Just recruit on chest span, can’t do worse than our first round form.

I like strong players

Two things SG:
1) my recollection of Ollie's first couple of years turns out to be faulty. I thought he spent longer in NEAFL than he did. Mind you, he was skinny but....
2) boringly refers to the fact that that I have repeatedly for years criticised our recruiters for drafting kids with light frames instead of something you can build on, preferably fairly quickly. They call it self-effacing.

This seems like a re-writing of history.

Do you think we should have traded Papley and the pick that became Logan for Daniher?

That is what everyone's issue was with trading for Daniher.

That deal was terrible at the time and looks even worse now in hindsight with Daniher retiring.

Not to mention he would not of made a ounce in of difference in 2022 nor in 2024.

Hardly rewriting history.

At one stage Papley wanted to be traded. If he left then yes. He would have been a big loss at the time.

Bringing in Daniher wasn’t a bad option.

Give in our history of trading for key forwards it wasn’t an unusual trade.

Anyway Daniher retired with a premiership.

McDonald who knows. Yet to reach his potential.
