This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

If we lost all three of them at the same time, we are left with TB, Battle, Weds, Sic, Scrim as the main options.

If Mraz continues his rapid development (and maybe McCabe though he may be slated to be a forward) I’d feel more comfortable about losing all three.
Mraz is developing beautifully, will be knocking on the door by next year for a game so I'm ok with a few moving on. Him and Will McCabe as depth options is fine. We need more midfield depth than backline.

We absolutely need a class midfielder to run with Newcombe and Day. Nash and Worpel are handy soldiers, but we need someone better to add to the mix.

I've come around to accepting the idea that maybe one of Ward or Mackenzie would be traded in order to bring in an actual A-grader.

Maybe I have misunderstood them, but posters have alluded that something like this may be happening if we are to land one.
McKenzie is a year younger than Ward, has credits because we haven't seen the best of him consistently. Ward could be at his ceiling as a player. Good solid player with good skills but may never reach that level we need.

I'm putting MacKenzie in a package for Butters.

Doing something with saints (NWM), port (Butters) and us (Mackenzie + all the picks)
No way. Mackenzie will be a Jet. Terrible night last night, but at least he kept putting his head over it in the coal face. Just saints pressure was top notch and he obv needs to get stronger. Will be a top liner

McKenzie is five months younger than Ward and has played 12 less games.

No to Mackenzie and Ward going. Worpel is the odd one out here. Hasn't signed so reckon he's gone and don't think he has a place in the team with Day, Newcombe and Nash as inside mids.

Worpel goes and we get a pick around 25-30 for him which is not enough ammo.

Unless we can turn two seconds into a late first and Port go for the Carlton pick plus a late first for Butters then we will need to add a player to the Carlton pick.

If we are trying to prize out Reid or Butters which we badly need it’s going to be our first pick plus a good player.

Reid will cost two first round picks and a good young player minimum any potential deal.

Butters will cost two picks inside 15.

Yeah I'm aware of where they are both at. To be clear I'm not saying that I want either to be traded, I really like them both.

Though I would now understand the coaches decision to use one as part of a trade to get a legitimate A grader through the door. We're going to have to give something good - and handy backups like Serong, etc. won't get it done.

Probably the ideal scenario is Worpel netting us a first rounder, and using our picks on Butters. That way we only lose one player and get to keep our younger players.

Im bored at work so ill have a crack at a hypothetical, to get Reid or butters i think that 1 or 2 best 22 players will get traded
1st- Worpel to Essendon as RFA Hawks get compensation with pick 15ish (fingers crossed)
2nd -C mac + pick 15 to Essendon for one of there 1st rounders (remember just a hypothetical)
3rd- pick 6 and pick 8 (Caltons pick) to WCE or Port for Reid or Butters

This would of been gold-

Port out Bergman and Butters
Saints out Wanganean Millera
Hawks out pick 8 and future first pick

Saints in Bergman and Hawks pick 8 (from the Blues)
Port in Nasiah and Hawks future first pick
Hawks in Butters

Watching North yesterday and again seeing how bad their backline is, I can’t see them going into next season with that current defensive bag of spuds.

They have a few flighty HBFs who seem keen on running offensively but struggle defensively. They are deplorable as a unit. They will not make any serious headway as a team until they improve this area of the field. Defence is the key plank in Clarko’s game plan.

He has his hands tied and so I reckon they are likely to target a few of our Box Hill defensive group and try get some upgrades at bargain prices.

Talls
Blanck
Frost
Serong

Runners
B Mac
Ryan
Mitchell :(

I don’t know that we would receive much in return but most of those blokes will struggle to get consistent time in our set up moving forward.

Frosty has been such a great servant that I cannot see any world in which we would not make it as easy as possible for him to continue his career elsewhere should he wish.

A 3 yr deal at North is a win-win for Frost and North

I see a very young and raw Jack Gunston in Duursma with his running, kicking and lean frame.

I would be all over this if we could somehow prize him out of Norf.

Duurmsa has been playing at 80% max since being drafted.

He needed both shoulders done last off-season and only went for the one. The other needs even more repair work now.

I really don't think he will have a long career as both shoulders are really really structurally degraded already.

I mentioned last season about our interest in Mac Andrew before it was confirmed, and this come from the same source, so they have a few runs on the board.

Apparently we are in the ear of Luamon Lual from Essendon

I didn't know anything about this kid I freely admit, so I've watched his games this year - not many as he is in only as a direct consequence of their injury crisis.

20 yrs old - and he is super-quick.

Great acceleration, excellent cruising speed and has a very very good tank already for an 20 yr old 4 game player.

He stands under the high ball and takes contact happily.

Playing on the wing - I can see him as a lightening quick outside mid.

Obvious caveats - he's raw. Very raw, and was introduced to footy a lot later than most.

Son of Sudanese refugees, who sadly was hit really hard by the death of his mother a mere few years after coming to Australia.

He was described to me as 'driven but grounded' by my source, and has had a tough life but has come through it and grown up to be a very decent young man.

I watched the game Vs Gold Coast and whilst not racking up possessions, I certainly could see the obvious potential just under the surface.

What's the top several shaping up as? NGA included.

Can't see North looking at another midfielder. I suppose the danger would be WCE and Essendon, given they'll have two picks.
North don’t have a pick. Traded it to take Whitlock at 27 last year.

Bergman has re-signed with Port. so this isn't happening.

For Butters Carlton's first and our future first isn't enough. Think of what Wingard cost and add to it. They need 2 high picks and some later shuffles and a player.

I'd be willing to give up every draft pick plus someone who will play every week for Port. Few players completely out of the discussion like Day, Newcombe, Weddle, Meek, Dear, Watson, Dambrosio. But you need to pay up to get what top talent.

its a really flat draft in my opinion so far, the sliding factor will be how many teams bid on kids to force other teams to pay full price.

There are four that likely go top 10-12:
Patterson (GC)
Annable (Bris)
King (Swans)
Addinsall (GC)

Outside of them though, Duursma, Sharp and Duff-Tytler are the main three you will hear about as we get closer to the draft but there are also Greeves, Lindsay, Hibbins-Hargraves that will be up there.

Hasnt been the best championships, not many guys have separated themselves with dominating performances that make you think oh he's a guy. Its actually a pretty interesting group of rucks coming in though

I could see a way for butters to get to hawks, nvm to port and saints to load up on picks, all very unlikely tho but it seems the most reasonable if those players are leaving

hawkinoz not even you would propose this trade in our favour it made me laugh on the thread about unexpected trades. Could be the most lopsided trade proposal in history.

It's a perfect Lose-win-lose trade. Why wouldn't eagles and saints. Saints are desperate for a fat perpetually injured trouble maker.
