From people I know at the club, I don't think we missed out, instead pulled out from him.

We'll have to disagree on that point. Happy to discuss it off-line, but my info from people at the club suggests otherwise. Plus some info passed on from Geelong people corroborates this (though I didn't get that directly).

Doesn't matter either way, it's done now. Day is a better player (IMO) and if he's fit all season we aren't really talking about it.

Watching the Cats last night they’re flag favourites nothing surer , but the way they’ve kept in contention is interesting really treated the draft with utter contempt whereas the rest of us have been living and dying by it . Clarko tried to do a similar thing after the 3 peat and we made generational moves bought in Mitchell, Jaeger , Chad , Scully and Paton but let’s be honest it was a spectacular failure compared to what Geelong have been able to accomplish. Makes you wonder which is the best strategy

I don't know the full situation around Bailey Smith and what our interest in him was but I can't help but feel in hindsight we missed a goldern opportunity here. Our midfield is our weakist link and Smith in the form he is in could of been the difference in us making the Top 4.

Idk. Smith is having a great year individually don't get me wrong, but Geelong are in a prelim this year and they were in a prelim last year. They have a great coach, and a fantastic system.

We absolutely do need help in the midfield but would he have been the silver bullet for us? Would a prominent Melbourne club be able to sweep his indiscretions away as only Geelong can?

Look at all the enticing nearby attractions. The Dhamma Sarana Temple, Braeside Industrial Park, Costco and that other Mecca of consumerism (Southland) is not far away. If Geelong is enticing for it's seafood, we can match it with Parkdale Fish Supply, 30+ years, 3 different proprietors and still producing quality fish and chips (genuine plug for them). I had fish and chips with the family and took them down to the off leash beach. Mind you had trouble getting my son back on the leash when it was time to go.
