This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

The trade for Merrett will be painful and difficult, they have shown by their behaviour and their past record dealing with clubs they will be unreasonable . Hird’s comments around Sam show how much heat is in this . I just don’t trust this mob !

Like any deal we must be prepared to walk away from it if it doesn’t make sense . While it would great to have Zach we will be fine if it can’t happen.

Offer Pick 8 (lol thanks Wet Toast it's not 18) + Hustwaite..

3 days out throw in a future 2nd rounder with a 4th rounder coming back.. they'll end up countering with pick 8 + F1 + Hustwaite for Merrett + 4th rounder and we probably accept in the end..

Save everyone the pain

But according to Ralph hawks are impossible to deal with...

There's actually a few very sad, reasonable supporters on the Essendon board. I don't know how they deal with it all.
A good mate of mine is a very reasonable Essendon supporter.

I feel for him because, for over a decade now, he's been experiencing a double whammy. Manchester United, the EPL club both he and I support, have been almost as much of a laughing stock as Essendon, since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

At least I have Hawthorn to soothe my United pain.

We currently use Chol. This let’s us keep Chol forward and Meek gets a longer rest each game.

That’s if we decide with 5 on the bench to go with an extra tall. Personally I’d go with another runner and try and run teams into the ground.

Same. I just can't see teams using the extra spot for a ruck-only ruckman, teams will be able to exploit that.

Also add on top last touch out of bounds between the arcs next year which will mean less boundary throw ins
Can we stop calling it that please? It's last disposal, not last touch.

The estimate is that there will be around 4 less throw-ins per game - or one per quarter - due to the change. Not too much difference at all.

So, Mitchell’s manager contacts *****, they ring hawthorn and two weeks later he has a new contract with hawthorn and Hird thinks they could have got a him to move. It’s a guess, but I think Mitchell got exactly what he wanted and Hird got played and still hasn’t realised it.

Not really - Mitchell has openly discussed that he wanted to leave after Clarko was a prick to him after the 2011 prelim loss. He calmed down about it though and didn’t follow through.

Haw in: Merrett, 13, F2 (GC)
Haw out: Ramsden, 8, End R1, 26, F1

Ess in: Flanders, Ramsden, 8
Ess out: Merrett

GC in: End R1, 26, F1 (Haw)
GC out: Flanders, 13, F2

GC gets points this year needed to match Uwland, Patterson and Addinsal. Take two firsts into next year, or to work other trades (Curnow).

Bombers get a top 10 pick, 10-year replacement midfielder and physically developed key position prospect.

Hawthorn give up good picks but retain a late first this year and two seconds over the next two drafts. Too optimistic?

Great deal for Essendon. I think we pay overs.

I think Chol plays better when he has a run in the ruck. It gets him involved if he’s been quiet, and if he’s been busy and has a run I haven’t noticed that it disrupts his flow up forward. He’s also pretty much the most impactful second ruck in the league right now. Unless something changes, I reckon we keep going with that.

This worm will do anything to drive up the price 😂 this is honestly the perfect smokescreen for the players, barely any game chatter and they are just going about their business. Wonder if the timing was coincidental.

Merretts manager seems to have every step laid out and Essendon have done everything as planned, hands down the worst run club in the afl

Going to be hilarious how they play out curnow to Geelong, can they turn Sam into the anti christ, stay tuned

Reckon they avoid the drop this season?

Best on ground and the coach singles him out as the reason we lost, can't blame Mitchell for looking at his options.

Somebody let that birth defect brad know that his better version brother Chris has got to stop talking to contracted players..
Rowan Marshall has met with him a couple times now!!
They are also deep.into convos with both Curnow and Butters as well.

"One rival list manager, speaking on the condition of anonymity as they were discussing another club, said the Bombers would get no better than the equivalent of 1½ first-round picks for Merrett."
