This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

We aren't getting Butters. People need to stop.
Prove it.

I will self inflict misery on myself however I please.

Am I the only one here who rates Flanders. Huge upgrade on Worpel.

Is an actual ball pig and while his disposal isn't elite, it's far better than Nash/Worpel. He's clean without being damaging.

Has also shown he can rotate effectively on a HFF/HBF which Worpel and Nash cannot do.

Not really a clearance or contested ball player but he would pair amazingly well with Petracca.

Should note in 2024 when Miller missed a batch of football and Flanders replaced his CBA attendances. He jumped from 3 clearances a game up to 6, over a period of 6 weeks.

Zac Bailey.... Hopefully the Hawks put a big offer in front of him, get his tank up to become a full time mid

How bad is Trac’s contract?

If it’s a negative asset that could help us with negotiation?

I think the Dees will be delusional, when they sacked Goodwin they said their list was still in the window so it’ll probably be pick 8 plus a pick next year

Christian is being paid market value for a player of his quality. His reported contract is fine. I think it's more the fact he'd jump straight to our highest player that irks a few.

On a personal note, I worked with Christian when he first did his knee and had a little bit to do with him after. He was a kid of the highest quality and by all reports that hasn't changed. I'd have him at Hawthorn in a heart beat if both parties want it to happen.

I was talking about us restructuring the pay, so front end for next year, then plateau out the rest.

If we take on the full amount, it will free up cap space for Melbourne, making it easier for us to propose a trade that is suitable for both clubs.
But what he wants us ! Hawks are going places, flags, Dingley, reputable club, decent list, settled coach and a happy team. Whats not to LOVE, I say.

~1.2m till 2029. Really not that bad at all, considering what we've seen in the last couple weeks with numbers being thrown around, not a stretch to say what he's on is fair market value.

In regard to the second point, he is about the most straight edge and well-prepared AFL player going around, and has had to deal with:
  • A third of his team organising bags in a group chat (IN SEASON)
  • Rumours of the coach seshing with them at the Sorrento Hotel (and selling off personal memorabilia to fund his punting) not to mention the former President of the club publicly levelling allegations of drug use and other misconduct at Goodwin
  • His main co-superstar in Clayton doing his best to ruin his career and the team's chances at a flag
  • Steven May in general but specifically the Entrecôte ordeal
  • The team letting him go back out there on King's bday 2024, despite him very obviously being in a bad state to anyone with eyes. That night his partner was told he might not make it by the doctors, and then Trac felt a lack of support from the club in the aftermath of the most traumatic event of his life, that happened on company time

Yet absolute bottom feeder losers like Damien Barret go on about 'brand Petracca' as if he wants to leave to further his personal brand rather than actually be in an environment that takes football as seriously as he does and can go 6 consecutive months without issuing a club statement.

I'm not having a go at you QuietB but I find the Demons PR or whoever is behind it trying to label Trac as a self-centred diva is one of the weirdest and most f*cked up attempts at deflecting I have seen in a good while. It is a damning reflection of that football club as a whole.

So let me get this straight...

People want us to trade a former pick 7, approaching the beginning of his prime years, with nearly 50 games under his belt, for a new pick 7 in what most consider to be a weak draft?

Why?

If you answered yes, can you please elaborate.
Reminds me of this:
Replace boat with young gamebreaking mid

Can we win it next year without the second mid? Trading Mitch Lewis could leave us badly exposed when Gunston inevitably falls off the cliff
If Will Day was more robust, then yes, but we can’t rely on him. Gunston is the crafty type, nothing like Lewis. Weddle can play the tall wing/forward lead up role like Dempsey does at Cats.

Liam Ryan is 5 years too old for the Hawks.

Not a needle mover and past his prime.

He would not handle to work the Hawks' game plan requires of our small fwds.

FYI!

I believe McKenzie was a part of the recruiting team during the Clarko years.

So to be clear I used the Mitchell years to define the two differences.

He has been list manager since 2018 which includes drafting Will Day during the Clarko years so he has done pretty well even outside the Mitchell years.

He was a great player but injury has really taken its toll on Ryan.. He doesn’t have that dynamic leap or explosion.. Really struggled last couple of years..
He's definitely still got at least some leap and explosion, got himself another mark of the year nomination a few weeks ago.

I actually think he might surprise some people if he's based in Melbourne and has a much lower travel load, look at Barrass this year playing his highest number of games in a season.

All the talk seems to be saints though so moot point anyway.
