No offence

But I'll take an SEN report over a post on here with absolutely no substance to it.

It literally started with "there's a rumour"

Atleast the report on SEN was published and print by an actual journalist.
“Out of contract at the end of this season, the 22-year-old has been offered a deal by the club, however with rumoured interest elsewhere, AFL.com.au reporter and SEN regular Josh Gabelich has declared that St Kilda's offer is far from approval from Windhager's camp.“

The article doesn’t list a single dollar amount or term.

The article doesn’t reference Stkildas point of view of the matter and assumes we are being tight on our offer because of Nas & TDK.

The article DOES directly point to the source being Windys camp.

But hey, I’m the unbelievable one for telling people that the rumour is that they are asking for north of 850k 😂

FWIW, I'm hearing a lot of similar things about certain Collingwood players being unhappy that they're being offered unders from the club. Mihocek, Elliott, Cameron etc. So it's not just an us problem. Obviously managers everywhere are all trying to get their clients an extra slice of the pie. It's why team like Geelong and Hawthorn have been so successful, they've been able to sell a culture of success to get players to stick around for under market value. Or even re-sign them before a market even is even established

The thought process is all over the shop.

Nas wants to go home and its not about money but we don't want to offer him more money than port or Crows to make him stay. But he's definitely super important and we think he will stay. But at the same time we want to offer tdk insane cash because we need to spend that war chest. Oh and did I mention 850k was too much for battle and windy but its great we are offering aleer 750k who's currently playing VFL.

Oh and nas best mate windy. We don't mind if he finds another home but also we really want to retain NAS. So we are trying to get his cousin to play VFL with us but we never made made the cut off date.

Super solid logic.

I don't think he is staying B grade but 2 years on $800 means that if he doesn't progress we aren't over committed.

We are finding ways to waste the extra cap space that you keep saying we have to burn or it's irresponsible. Keeping your young core together is paramount. You'd be better to low ball guys like Dow, Jones and Clark who are filler.
So you want to overpay Windhager on potential.
Heard this tune before.

Because 750k now is what 450k use to be.

Its not a big contract anymore.
I believe the cap is around $18.3m(according to Google) next year.

That’s 4% of your salary cap.

Thats a pretty big chunk on a bloke who has improved but isn’t damaging with ball in hand.

Not quite, but the point is valid. I reckon if a player honestly believes he's worth the extra he'd accept triggers for it. Windy is potentially on the verge so it's a difficult area to negotiate on. I'm happy if the club pays on proven capability and avoids the Billings/Gresh style scenaris that hamstring the TPP. Sos needs to map the TPP for a future where it's maxed out and we're contending again, it's not a matter of just we can afford it right now.

The cap used to be 11-12m when that number was considered to be big.

So yes. Its not a large number anymore.

What % of your cap was 450k in 12m

I guess a group wanting success and prepared to take unders is old fashioned.

I like Windy, and his versatility is very useful, but aside from the Collingwood game last year I don't think he's a long term clearance mid. The fact he can play wing/half back is his saving grace.

You watch the way Garcia bursts from stoppage compared to Windys quick hack kicks and you see the direction we need to go in.

I'd prefer to keep him but he's a solid B grader more than anything else in my view. Hope he stays and proves me wrong in any case.

Correct.

Bill Thornton from Sandy Primary said Windy wants 350k plus match payments

Can't make this stuff up.

People crying we are overpaying on potential then when a tagger wants 850k a year it the Saints fault.
The mental gymnastics required for some people to fit this into their narrative is very very entertaining 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Name one source who has stated he wants 850k. Ill wait. More yelling at clouds.

4% of your salary cap and all he can hang his hat on right now is as an elite tagger, an improving ball winner and a bull butcher.

That’s more then enough.
Thank you for making the argument for me.
Didn’t do that at all. You were saying I wasn’t believable, fair enough.

The article didn’t list any figures. Just claimed we low balled windy and you believed it

What a chump. 😂

Of course you did.

You conceded there is not one source that has run with the 850k claim. Its a completely base less rumour. You've tried to extrapolate out another article as evidence of your claim.

Its a massive reach.

Like I said how much was 450k on a salary cap of 12m. Go get the calculator out. Here's a hint. Its very close to your scary 4%.

How much of the cap will aleer get next year

And there is nothing factual to say we actually are low balling windy until his agent says well they offered x and we wanted y.

But you believed it anyway.

Nah I’m just not gonna lose my mind because a random on a fan forum said windy wants 850k
No. You lost your mind like saint Katrina over the same argument but from the players side.

There was no figures used.

It was just:

Out of contract at the end of this season, the 22-year-old has been offered a deal by the club, however with rumoured interest elsewhere, AFL.com.au reporter and SEN regular Josh Gabelich has declared that St Kilda's offer is far from approval from Windhager's camp.

Its atleast in print.

What claim do you have to this mystical 850k rumour? Anything at all?

Like on the scale of believability. Your claim here is on par with the duck claiming it was just crushed panadol.
