We are spending 4.7mill on 3 players
NAS 2 mill
TDK 1.7 mill
King 1 mill
If, a club like us has to offer large sums to attract players we won't be able to outbid other Vic clubs and pay overs for flanders
We can match some bids
Just not enough to get the signature
Man you are so far off.
Nas 2.0 mill is correct
TDK lastest report is forward loaded 1.6 over 2 down to 1.2 to 1.3 after that
King front loaded, about 700k after the first loading
3.8 mill saved in SC all contracted front loaded and no SC increases built into any contract.
Could easily afford another mid. Really your figures have the rigour of a Rucci story.

I had $10 on TDK as an anytime goalkicker.

Misses from 20 metres out....
I want to like Tom
I want to see it …all $1.7m of it
Then I see that from 20m out and …I just can’t
I’m praying he’s foxing
But he talks and plays like something out of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure …totally narly dude…

What would Flanders cost? Our future first? Would we be so bold? He'd be a perfect HBF/Mid for us, and would free Nas to go 100% mid
maybe 3 way trade with gc/wc
gc get pick 2 (wc) + wc promise not to bid
wc get pick 7 (port via gc) + 8 (stk)
stk get flanders + ryan

smooth it out with other picks but that could be the bones of it

Is Flanders going to move the needle though?

Unsure if it’s a necessary move, would prefer to build a midfield group of NWM, Pou, Windy, Garcia, Wilson, Box, Trav, Hall, 2026 1st rounder potentially.

Just not sure how he improves us but his poor form could just be that he’s played out of position most weeks.

Wouldn't the question be more is TDK, Aleer, Flanders, a resigned NAZ, a fit King and Howard and natural.development of Hall, Boxshall, Pou, Tauru, Wilson and Travaglia going to move the needle?
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

He'd be our 2nd best mid behind Nas.

So it is 4.7 mill next year
Doubt king would be on 700k after next year if true that's a great result providing he can get on the park
How much would it take to get flanders here?
Based off the tdk offer you mentioned of 1.2 mill a season atleast a similar renumeration otherwise he will go to Collingwood

As long as we have the $$ to sign trav, tauru, Wilson, windy and dodson etc as all of them would be getting a significant payrise otherwise other larger clubs may pry them away

Unlike some I am excited what TDK can do for us.

he is a really good field kick for a ruck, really good tap ruck, has good hands in congestion and can release mids from stoppages (Rowan offers nothing in this department) and is far more athletic than Marshall.

I look forward to having them play in tandem as Marshall will be far more effective in the ruck with a lighter load and can impact in front of the ball as a marking outlet and forward 50 option.

I firmly believe our clearance numbers will improve, as will the quality of clearance. Only have to watch his 2024 highlights and imagine the likes of NAS running onto his taps to advantage.

Not as hot on Ryan but we do need 1 or 2 better small forward options. I have brought this up throughout the year but expected us to target a younger moneyball type.

Haven’t seen a lot of Aleer so can’t comment to much on him specifically but will see him live on Sunday. Certainly not convinced Hammer is our long term option in defence.

I like the idea of Flanders but not for our first rounder this year or next. We still need to attack the draft before Tassie comes in. With all our pushing to abolish academies Gold Coast mightn’t trade him to us out of spite.

Remember when the threads had consistent titles and effort went into posting them at 12:01am on game day?
we used to be able to automate the process, but can't anymore; the system no longer exists.

Marshall was 24 before he broke out.
TDK 24/25 before he did the same.

That means we likely have 3-4 more years before Dodson gets to a similar level.

Rucks are all about physical development- comparison young kids coming through who can play more running roles are more immediately ready.
Dodson himself says he tries to model his game on Luke Jackson. If I remember correctly, Jackson took no time at all to get going. If you are ready, you are ready - no need to follow set rules about time.

Time will tell, regarding all the opinions in this thread. Mine, yours and everyone elses.

Feel free to keep receipts.

If I'm wrong, I'll be happy to admit it- I'm closer to the mark more often than I'm further away, so I'll back myself and it won't worry me if I'm wrong on this occasion.
I’m couldn’t care less about your opinions but draw the line at you wilfully ignoring facts & making stuff up.

He & his mate know all that.

They’re just ignoring it.
