Flipping between 2 games and the cricket ..Aleer looks like the worst footballer I've ever seen every time then next time Dwayne says he is an absolute superstar..like wtf
Allir Allir.
Not Leek Aleer.

Nas is on 2 mill for 2 years
TDK front ended 1.7 mill
King 1 mill a season
All reported
4.7 mill next year
It'll be more than $4.7m next year cos TDK will earn more than 1.7m given front loading.

I'm not worried about next year. St Kilda has banked carry forward excess spend.

I'm worried about 2028, 2029.

The current 2023-2027 CBA was only signed in September 2023. It factored in the first few years of the 2025-2031 TV rights deal which was signed in 2022.

No one knows what the next CBA will look like, but there's no reason to assume massive increases, given the current CBA already accounts for the same TV deal.

And if there aren't massive increases, TDK needs to become one of the top players in the AFL (AA level) otherwise he's being overpaid. And having overpaid players is the opposite of what you need to succeed in a hard cap environment.

That's just the reality of the situation. Like it or not.

Let's all hope TDK becomes a star, otherwise this is trouble for St Kilda.

Do we think Windy takes the 5 year offer from North ?
I was quietly confident with Nas staying.
Not so with Windy
I suppose he doesn't have to play with his close mates.
Just catch up with them outside of footy.
Seems weird for me though, that he doesn't want to be on the Saints train to success.

One odd theme in this thread is the new pressure to succeed in 2026 and 2027 given Nas' signing.

The idea seems to be that we need to play finals by 2027 otherwise Nas runs back to Adelaide.

So people are backing short-sighted moves in service of that objective.

Like signing a guy we can easily afford in the short-term due to banked carry-forward (TDK), but not necessarily long-term. Unless he becomes a consistent star, which seems a gamble where the odds aren't in St Kilda's favour.

Or signing a 29 year-old who hasnt been great the last couple of years, to a 4 year contract.

But the whole underlying assumption is odd.

Nas is 22. If he's smart, he'll have a 10-12 year outlook for achieving success in his career.

Saints should keep developing players who are his age, give or take 2-3 years.

Sure it'd be nice to achieve success while Sinclair and Wilkie are still there, but I'm uncomfortable making short-term moves based on the alleged 2-year window to impress a 22 year old.

Both need to be extended along with windy
Correct - next year before they are out of contract........

Windy this year, because he is out of contract

Jesus, some of you are unbearable......

Some of the best news we've had in years was at the start of the week, and by the end of it some of you are actually creating things to piss and moan about......

100%

We are spending 4.7mill on 3 players
NAS 2 mill
TDK 1.7 mill
King 1 mill
If, a club like us has to offer large sums to attract players we won't be able to outbid other Vic clubs and pay overs for flanders
We can match some bids
Just not enough to get the signature
I bet you don't have a dog......

If you did, the poor ****er would be permanently locked out in the elements because "he looked like he MIGHT piss on the carpet at any moment"............

Is it as boring writing the same thing over and over and over again as it is to read it?

Time to let it go.

Reportedly 5 years at 800k from North. Plus offers from Melbourne and Essendon but those havent been revealed.

The rumours about Windhager make more sense, IF we are connected to Flanders. Its been seen before under SOS, he makes a low ball offer to the player (Windhager) get them looking about and attracting interest from a number of clubs basically just to better your trade hand to get to the end goal.

I thought it was odd when Windhager said he was moving out of the house with Owens and NWM and moving in with school friends. I think he is expecting not to be at the club next year. I dont know what we would expect in a trade for Windy, but its obviously enough to get Flanders or similiar over the line.

I remain loyal to Windy and love the way he goes about it, but if the club think they can work an upgrade by his departure then it makes a lot more sense.

As much as l think Windy is over-rating himself
I wouldn't say Flanders is an upgrade.

Both need to be extended along with windy
Both will be extended in 2026
Who knows what will happen with Windy - I deperately hope the club re-signs him, I think the club needs to show the same loyalty as they expect (and get) from the players.

So it is 4.7 mill next year
Doubt king would be on 700k after next year if true that's a great result providing he can get on the park
How much would it take to get flanders here?
Based off the tdk offer you mentioned of 1.2 mill a season atleast a similar renumeration otherwise he will go to Collingwood
4.7 mill on an adjusted SC of 22.1 million (18.3 + 3.8). All contracts for the big money were front loaded saving 15% of Salary cap this year on those contracts.
King is only on 700k for the duration of his contract and may be less with performance triggers and KRA's. I am sure TDK is the same. Only guaranteed is NAZ on 2 million.
No contracts have any built in SC increases which are due in 2027, reason why we have so many contracted to then, but any over doesn't have any auto increases. Predicted to go up by to 21+million meaning 2.7 million to play with from 2027.
The $$$$ have been worked put brilliantly. Only spanner has been the NAZ breakout costing about a mill over 2 years.
Really no fears of a SC squeeze until at least 2028. Hopefully by then we are an entrenched finals 8 team and many successful teams have SC issues because there players get better.
Who knows, NAZ may leave and that automatically relieves 10% plus of the cap 🙂

Confident Windy will sign on a good length contract.
I can't believe Windy is leaving until he announces it. Wouldn't hate him signing 2 years to back himself in for the big contract when he is 24. At the moment he's cemented his spot in the side, be nice to back himself in to become a grade within 2 years and get that $850k plus contract.
