They also think the AFL are going to bend the NGA rules to hand them a top 2 player in next years draft. They are a special breed over there.
You should go read the Nas thread on their board.

Those are the rules but on what grounds are they allowed to acquire an exemption haha

So strange.
Didn't they get one when they traded for JHF - argued that JHF was first rounder talent so trading for him should be seen as using a first round pick.

They could argue the same for Nas, but it would be an awful look for the AFL to bend the rules and allow to second tier clubs get absolutely ripped off

Not sold on this doom attitude by this forum, can see the following all happening

Win the next 2 games, and probably go down to GWS in a nail biter

  • Nas re-signs, either 2 or 4 years at 1.5 - 1.7 mil
  • Windhager re-signs either 2 or 4 years 600k-750k
  • Phillipou re-signs 4 years at 800k-900k with heavy incentives incase he exploded in form

Trade period:

- TDK agrees to join St Kilda,
reported 1.7-1.9 is actually a front-loaded figure and real amount averages at 1.3 mil over the life of the deal(not incl. AFL ambassador money) meaning Nas is the highest paid saints player of all time (as was reliably reported)
- Leek Aleer gets to the Saints for Future 2nd with a Future 4th coming back our way

Draft:

  • Pick 6-7 used on a top midfielder
  • Draft 2-3 other Dalrymple diamond specials
Respectfully (and this isn’t leveled just as you) but it’s amusing to me that when we talk about TDK his deal simply HAS to be incorrectly reported, it simply MUST be front ended etc etc.

But when it comes to NAS we simply MUST be paying him more, there is no way the reported amount is correct, it must be more etc etc.

Might just be club's priorities at this point (in terms of, they'll get a deal done for Windy, but the last few weeks Nas has probably occupied a lot of their thinking plus getting the Box & Hall deals plus the ever-present TDK).

Have no idea what the club offered Windy to be seen as a low ball, but if you look at his career form up to R16 this year, it's just... ok. Up to that point he'd never had five games in a row with 20+ disposals (which he's now done), had a couple of games just before that where he didn't even lay a tackle (WC and Freo) which is not what you want from your hard nosed in and under type players.

From R17 he has looked really good, breakout game against Sydney and his tackles, Inside 50 and clearance numbers are all starting to be consistently good. But that's a ~6 game block in his career to date - it probably does project forward well since he's getting closeish to that 100 game mark where most players find consistency.

But yeah if his camp thinks he should be rewarded based on the last five or so weeks alone I can see why there might be a bit of difference in thinking.

Largely agree, but also he's been racking up coaches votes all year.

Clearly his best year of senior footy (https://www.draftguru.com.au/players/marcus_windhager/1):

Those morons still think 2027 picks are worth something.

I knew South Australia was behind but they will be shocked when the Tassie news finally reaches them and they find out about all the compensation picks in that draft.

Reality is that if your player walks, you dont get fairly compensated. We can act as tough as we want but it won't happen. I dont like it, none of us will but that's reality. It wont be preseason draft territory, but it also wont be Butters and Berry which would be my expectation.

We just need to sign him and get rid of anyone in list management who thought it was OK to lowball and gloat about war chests and $1.7m contracts to other clubs players.

Why would they get an exemption?
They seem to think because they're using the future picks on young guys (JHF) it's ok?

But I dunno, aside from JHF - I'm not sure they have a whole lot to show for it. Ratguloea, Lukosious, Atkins, Richards, Soldo, Sweet? They've also traded out assets in Houston & Duursma yet they still don't have a first round pick

Their argument is that they are trading for young players who are ex first round picks.

The issue might potentially be that they are trading so far head without taking a first round pick.

The AFL still hasn’t ruled Cochrane is port eligible yet either.

Remember this is Port, they wouldn't know a good deal it it punched them in the face, sold them life insurance and stapled it top their nads if it's a good deal or not.

Expecting comprehension from them is an effort in futility.

I don’t think we’d be interested in future draft picks ? We want players, so they can grow with our current group?

This year was meant to be our final draft year ?

Jay Clark about a month ago reported reported we would want 3 first round picks and they need to be “good ones”

Then last night reported that we would want the biggest trade haul since Judd

Or mixture ? Bergman, Berry and throw in ports 2026 FRP and want them to finish bottom 6?

Two points

1. So from a rumour by a poster that had been totally wrong in the past, people are losing their shit about a fictitious lowballing of Windhager. Ok 🙄

2. Can we refer to the 2nd team in Adelaide as their proper name, Port Adelaide Power? They were only established in 1997 and are on a par with the Brisbane Lions for tradition and gravitas.
Their supporters still think they are big fish in small pond Port Adelaide Magpies, but even that club was just a Temu Collingwood.
They way they carry on us like they are something special when they are on a par with Fremantle who are actually older than them.

This is the biggest decision Nas will ever make and he has a lot of things he needs to consider.

Whatever he decides to do will have a huge impact on his life.

He needs to consider his family and friends and where he would like to live.

He should be given all the time and privacy he needs to carefully arrive at the correct decision 🥰

Then again, we are supporters…

AND WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW RIGHT NOW!!! 😬🤪
