It's only been draining because his development has been exponential this year with his move in to the midfield. So our admiration for him as a player has similarly grown, and the win against Melbourne was like a furnace that forged admiration in to love.

Embrace that part of the journey. Maybe even reflect on what the club is doing well to facilitate that type of growth. We saw it in Phillipou late last year. Windhager is showing signs. Hall has shown tremendous growth.

Even after Nas signs his new contract there is still a good chance he may choose to finish his career in SA. Don't forget to enjoy him while he is here.

I'm finding it excruciating. Finally getting one of the best players in footy but fretting about him leaving constantly. It's like cosmic punishment following St Kilda. Just when anything looks positive we manage to end up back on our arses.

Not much of an update, and could be a bit of just guess work mixed with some things being heard. But Theo Doropoulos on MMM has reported on JB & Billy show that it’s still up in the air with 3 clubs involved.

He said (paraphrased):
-Adelaide in it but would be third in the race
-Port would be slightly ahead of Adelaide
-St.Kilda would still be confident they’re at the front of the pack
-Nas himself doesn’t know what he’s doing
-Signature held off as stocks continue to rise each week

As I said, could be just made up from the vibe or this could be directly from sources.
This feels about right.

Nas strikes me as the kind of guy that just needs to focus on what’s in front of him, I.e. the rest of the season. He doesn’t like the spotlight, and he’s probably the most talked about player in the competition right now.

If I had to guess, we won’t hear anything until the end of H&A season, at which point his value will be very high, and he’ll be tracking to probably poll well in Brownlow and win the Trevor barker award.

I think he’ll end up staying, 2-4 years. He clearly likes being in Adelaide but I think his pull home is overstated at the moment.

As for Windy, I’d be gobsmacked if he left. Not an ITK, but just can’t see it happening unless something has gone horrifically wrong behind the scenes.

The better he plays the more he costs via trade or draft. Better for us.

Trust me, you'll come out the other side a better man. Probs never smile again but

Exactly how I feel as a dual Devils fan being finally given a team but then having the stadium and hence team perpetually in limbo.

Hopefully we have an answer to both sooner rather than later lol

No player anywhere near as good as Nas has gone to the draft since Nick Stevens.

He was trying to get to Collingwood and port felt they weren’t getting fair compo.

He ended up at Carlton in the PSD.

2003 might as well be a century ago in player movement, not to mention Carlton were in the same state as the team he was aiming for. It won't happen here and we all need to resign ourselves to that fact.

It’s as relevant as anyone having piss run down their legs that Ball made it to Collingwood

And this is why him requesting a trade wouldn’t make sense. Why make yourself more untradeable by the week knowing the two clubs you may request to go to already don’t have the currency. Much more like his manager is aiming for more money from the club and why not! Make the club sweat if they are offering TDK 1.7 and Nas less…

Sorry mate, but this assumption is as vague and as unsubstantiated as a lot of the stuff on here.

Nas could do his knee next year and eventually end up like Brad Crouch.

We know players can need to be medically retired if they suffer concussions as well.

If I was Nas, I would be trying to get as big a pay day as possible, without obviously crippling the club.

You never know what can happen in the future.

I'm also not sure we will be adequately compensated if he chooses to leave. Which is a scary thought.
Not wishing it on him but NAS could do a knee this weekend. The future is unknown. NAS could sign with us today and have that guarantee immediately.

And the whole argument, "no club will take a player who doesn't want to be there" is rubbish. If a Nick Daicos was in a similar situation, you would take him as:

1. you could bring him around to play for the club;
2. you trade him within 12 months and get a king's ransom from the SA clubs.
Not one club would go past picking NAS.

Same age as Collard though.

True, but when we picked up Collard, and not Logan, we had as Third Tall Marking Options, Membrey, Sharman, Owens and Pou. Plus also Caminiti and Keeler.

Lions have picked very well, but you can fully understand why we went for Collard, and not another Third Tall Forward.
