Serious question.
What, technically, forces either SA team giving us any players at all? (Or vastly inferior players) Can’t they just pay a sh$t load of cash?

Now St Kilda (a subsidized team)
What power do they have?

If NAS wants to walk, that’s it?

What is the official rule that says St Kilda gets compensation in the form of actual good players? Or any players at all?

The risk the Adelaide clubs would take is we reject their offer and Nas gets picked by West Coast in the national draft.

Also the AFL has to sign off on any trade deal. Anything that is clearly way out of market value may not get that approval.

The players have to agree to be traded. Given how late any discussions will be its highly unlikely anyone of note will agree to it. Would you up root your entire life to go to a club who's played in two finals series since 2011. Plus if they do come it means paying them more which will make a mockery of the windhager case

The clubs have to get the trade done or NAS goes into the draft which will be a massive free hit to wce

We'll see if the AFL have a spine when it's not junk home-and-away games for an unknown player at stake.
VFL game, my nephew was on Collard for a lot of the game, didn't hear a thing.
Guys were laughing in the change room about it, nobody offended, just thought it was strange behaviour.
Justin Plapp heard it and reported it. What a pr!ck, nobody was offended FFS.

Just watched last two minutes, nobody told me NAZ got his head knocked off going in for the hard ball with a minute left on the clock.
Not a sign of a guy about to leave. Would be pulling back.

…me…
Mnnn..OK
Sort of…
It sounds very subjective.

And this is St Kilda.
And the AFL are the AFL.
I’m not sure if Hill or Hannebury or even Brad Crouch were FA s or just out-of-contract, but we paid overs.

In other words, we are structurally gonna be screwed if that is the case.

This is Nas we are talking about, the other club will tell the nominated players to **** off, regardless of what they want. And let's be honest, it's their job, they aren't fanboys or girls, they'll do what's best for them. And that would usually mean bye bye, after all, would they want to be the ones that scuppered Nas coming to their club?

Uprooting your entire life is a bit of a stretch considering we would only really enquire about Victorian born players to start with.

Ultimately Adelaide or Port won’t come with a list, we will, and if we enquire about anyone then it’ll be on us to pitch and recruit that person.

Yeh we will almost certainly have to offer them more money but that’s the way the system works.

It’s been done to death in here but I’d put my house on Nas signing with us post trade period if a trade doesn’t eventuate before he would go near the draft (noting a trade will almost certainly get done anyway).

AFL trade law say a fair and reasonable trade needs to agreed to. Clubs don’t like burning bridges and neither do managers because they will have to deal with them again in the future. We just won’t agree to anything less than fair. Good luck getting it done without speaking to contracted players

Ok I've been on holiday since Aug 4 with no WiFi and orders from The Boss to turn my roaming off, with only very brief chances to sneak a look at the Internet.

One of the pleasures this family holiday in the sun gave me was reading a post from Gringo calling someone an "oafish goonbag". Hahahahaha love it!

300 pages since August 4! Wtf?

I've read a bit, but nothing seems to have happened. Can any kind posters summerise the more important talking points?

Still think that was the correct decision by the club at the time.

In hindsight I don't think anyone expected him to turn into an AA ruck at the worst club in the comp.

He was a very promising young ruck but he was coming in as an understudy to Marshall. Paying a second rounder for a guy who was likely to play VFL for a couple of years was too much. Right decision but a shame that we didn't in hindsight.

Port did plan for Nas, they thought he was their replacement for Huston and probably thought Bergman and F1 would get the job done.

But Nas decided to become the best hybrid player in the competition and all that went out the window.

Neither port or Adelaide prepared for Nas becoming a top 5 player in the comp, we didn't either but we have the advantage that he's already on our list and we have a bucket load of cash.

Williams is a smart operator and so is SoS, they both know if Nas requested a trade this year it'll get messy because the SA clubs don't have the captial and SoS has the ego and the balls to take this all the way to the PSD etc.

I predict Nas signs,I believe Williams wants a 9 year contract with the option to be traded after year 2 and 4. Which guarantees Nas the money and a "get out clause" if he so desires.

Wouldn't be surprised to see these types of contracts more often after what has happened with trac and others in the past.

And thats why this is taking so long, Nas is not only going to change that game on the field, he'll change the future of contacts moving forward.
Nah - don't buy it.

I watched him closely in the post game interview and twice he turned his head and his eyes were looking west towards South Oz - clearly gone!!

The cycle between despair and hope is a strange thing isn’t it. I reckon he’s gone for all money then the reality of how it actually happens kicks in and I believe again. This is fcuked. I hope that random text from the post supporter is true and he’s made his decision

I think he made it a while back but just doesn't want the backlash so he is holding off telling us, i know we have the best ITK's in the land ( or so they will tell us :tearsofjoy: ) but who in their right mind really thinks he is staying and if so why has it not been released ? There is no possible reason to hold back the info and surly if our club has been negotiating for as long as it appears we need some better people involved in these type of deals.
