Ok so now let's get Windy sorted.

I wish the deal was longer but we basically have two years to show Nas we are on the right track.

A day to celebrate, but then it's time to pull the socks up and get moving up the ladder again.

Honestly can't remember this type of universal love for a player since Lenny and maybe it even beats that. What a day to be a Saints fan.

And seriously kudos to SOS.

I think he's a better player than Lenny talent wise. People loved Lenny because he was a giant heart type who extracted every drop and played hard but fair. Nas is a quiet humble superstar. Even Rooey had his detractors in the day because he was a little big egotistical.

I reckon Nas could be our best ever player still. He's 22 and already ridiculous. Imagine what he'll be like in another 2 seasons.

Just purchased TEN MEMBERSHIPS!
One for me, one for my son and EIGHT TO GIVE AWAY to EIGHT people who are experiencing financial hardship through next year.

WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE A SAINTER!
I just chipped in with 5 to give away also , tried to buy yesterday but the site kept crashing , does anyone have any ideas how to give these to people who need-want them , community groups or something like that ? Anyone as long as they are used

PS , I hope the tickets Tyrian Lonestar and myself have don't go to waste , please do not be shy to ask if you want them

Williams saying he told NAS to hold, and his form showed that it was the right move. he didn’t go to the club and ask us to up our offer after the Melbourne game, we got on the front foot and came back with an increased offer off our own back.

SOS and Gubby busy low balling him god damn.
I love the interviews post deals happening.

Why doesn’t Ben explain how by telling Nas to hold he pushed back on the 2 times we thought a deal was agreed and that this donut shook on it.

Was good to hear Ross say the club was on the front foot about discussing the list strategy with the senior players in the preseason. Lot of media types were criticising us last week for blindsiding them with our offers for other players but we did take care of that part and look after them with those bonuses.

SOS and Gubby know what they are doing.

  • ross knew NAS would be ok as he was still engaged in club activities off field. if he was leaving he wouldn't have been taking part
I went to a Sandy game mid season and Nas was one of about 5 players there. I mentioned to some people at the time he must be staying purely because there is no way anyone would sit through that crap if they weren't invested in this group.

Ross must have had similar thoughts.

So we've got our big fish. Would people prefer that we go on a recruiting/trading frenzy to push for finals ASAP or stay the course, hitting the draft and backing natural improvement?

If we bring in TDK then we trade Marshall. Unless we genuinely think King is cooked, in which case maybe we plonk Marshall at full forward for 60% of TOG. Steele could also be a casualty, though I don't think we'd miss him on field too much going forward since Nas, Garcia, Box and Pou should all be getting significant onball time next year.

Personally I'd pull the TDK offer and back in Dodson to take over from Marshall in a couple of years. This would ensure that the salary cap is manageable - re sign Windy, and have enough cap space to spare when the likes of Tauru and Pou start getting big offers from oppo clubs.

He's 100% in the frame. If we all agree Plugger is the best ever to pull on a saints jumper and won't be topped, Nas will be in the conversation for second best if the last 8 weeks are the rest of his career and he delivers on a premiership. The Melbourne game stands out obviously, but he has been genuinely amazing in every single other game.

Such a shame this week isn't a home game.
Yeah a real bummer, would've been bloody huge. Still, I think back to the game last week and when Nas copped that head knock near the end, I thought right then and there he'd be concussed and miss the last game this week, thereby never playing for the Saints again!

A week is a long time in football. 🥴

If the Liam Ryan news is correct, it's a great testament to the club for becoming an enticing destination for indigenous talent.

Collin Young might be hated by lots of fans out West but it's a good thing to be a club he is happy for his WA clients to head too.

That it is

I reckon our first home game next season will be special.

Seriously, now that we don't have to worry about the contract, think about what we actually have here.
He is quick, actually uses his speed and leaves players in the dust when he takes off.
He is athletic.
He knows how good he is and backs himself in. Genuine "**** off, i'm taking over, i'm the best player on the field" vibes from him on a regular basis.
He gets the ball at will. 30+ possessions a game without needing any kick outs.
He now gets the ball contested and uncontested. Has gone the following in clearances and contested possessions since round 15 when they've run him more through the midfield (freo and richmond he played mostly backline) - 3 (11), 0 (2), 4 (11), 3 (6), 6 (9), 9 (13), 1 (7), 5 (11). Going at a goal a game during this stretch while averaging 2 shots at goal.
He is a top 5 kick in the league.
Most importantly, he passes the eye test. He is pure impact and forward momentum in every game. It is hard to overstate what Nas could be for our club.

How good is Ross for the club.

I've always been a Ross lover, Ross finally getting announced to come back to the club was as good as the Nas announcement for me.. Just because it meant having someone in charge that:
A) wasn't going to be pushed around or bend the knee to the media/afl and
B) Our playing list was going to stop being patted on the head for being first round draft picks and actually have to put in work.

How many times has Nas said how much he loves Ross, just warms the soul.

Also, how good was the drive-by from Ross on some of the players we've recently let go.. Something like "We've made really tough decisions on players who were really well remunerated but we felt weren't delivering that value"

Reckon Essendon is living that pain right now with Gresh.

I don't think we can underestimate how low our standards were as a club after Ross left... We had so many early draft picks that were both gifted games early AND paid overs on potential and they just ended up loving the life of an AFL footballer instead of being an AFL footballer.

Seems like Nas, Windy, Owens, Pou etc all have a different mentality and actually want to be great.
