2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Regarding our plans. I think after all the work the club has done, to not have a real secondary kpf option that isn’t max king is pure arrogance. Im
Not talking about Hamner. I mean a genuine option.

Between he or Tauru one has to be developed properly.
if that chequebook has any pages left we (and a bunch of other clubs) should be having a crack at Oscar Allen. solves the backup ruck issue too.

Brisbane playing cute and demanding a decent pick for Starcevich before lodging the FA paperwork is beyond the pale. West Coast should refuse, march Starcevich to the PSD, and tell Oscar he should look for another club who is willing to play ball

all that said I assume the above will never happen and they will meekly hand over a pick in the 20s before playing tough guy on Ryan

He never had a big kick and his agility didn't seem to stop him getting career best numbers in 2022 having one of his best results in the b&f.

Guess I'd overlooked the fact that achilles ruptures have a 12 month delay until the long term effects become apparent.

Its a good thing we have bigfootys most super serial poster to set the rest of us simpletons straight.
"Career best numbers" is gilding the lily.

He got more kicks but was kicking way less goals than he did in 18/19 and his spot is/was as a small fwd not a low possesion high hf.

Achilles meant he couldn't play the position he was best suited to and his only other option was then as a dime a dozen hf.

I love the fact the Saints are shitting those three dog turds on the late trade. Everything is negative
  • the wrong players
  • they wont move the needle
  • they have overpaid
  • Lyon runs everything
  • all their young players will leave
  • overpaid for Flanders
  • should take unders for Marshall
Then they got the coach of Balwyn some failed AFL coach to tut out and say this will never be a top four team, and they all went yes yes, true blah blah blah.

They are rattled and it shows.
And that aligns perfectly with what Basset was saying. We are supposed to be nice, stay in our place and accept crap fixtures and crap trades.
It's not happening this year and people aren't happy. My thoughts? Tuff luck!!

Is anyone really surprised?

Culture at Tullamarine stinks like a sack full of used nappies
Nothing to back this up but first came news of Merrett and the AFLW side, now this has been leaked about management (from the bye round) on day 1 of the trade period.

Everyone's getting sabotaged and I'm here for it.

That’s why I’d be happy enough with a swap for SDK.

Key back who can go forward and play ruck. The other option is to take a kid in the draft, Sandy dragons have Ludowyke a local kid who’s worth a look. The problem is the big guys take time, we could be waiting years to see him become a regular if at all.

He spent some time with us during pre-season. Has some nice athletic attributes but he’s a long way off it unfortunately.

So much negging

Meanwhile Jenkins had no problems with pick 12 for Judd McVee (He's at best going for a pick upgrade)

"If it means overpaying a little to get a player thats going to make you better, you just get it done"

One of these responses is not like the other
Not over-endowed in the IQ department, is ol’ JJ.

This JUH to GCS confirmation is good news.

Either he does well and displaces one of the Suns' other key forwards (eg a guy with links to the club that becomes a free agent next year)

Or he carries on his current trajectory and torpedoes one of the strongest lists in the AFL
I'd like to bet everything on what's behind curtain B please........

Could we have planned the following?
  • Overpaid TDK so Carlton wouldn’t match
  • Bring in SDK for Marshall
  • In a years time, re-negotiate TDK’s contract to get his brother some of his money and even things up a bit
Nuffie thinking, and I’m sure the AFL or AFLPA would bar it happening
