2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

This is shaping up to be one of the best off seasons ever. And we've had a lot of really good off seasons recently!

Not just with us, but also clubs like the Bombers, Blues, and Demons crumbling into piles of shit. the Bulldog desperation, Geelong trying to grab two stars for a handful of dirt and so on.

Just sitting back laughing constantly, not getting any work done, but who gives AF omg-yes-antonio-banderas.gif
Lol

Not often it does. It mostly doesn’t. If Marshall plays on, it’s Ok ish, at best. It isn’t a good look either.
Why not? The guy signed a contract. Be professional and honour it. If you are unprofessional good luck getting a big pay day at another club. As JUH will find out.

I don’t think the players care really. I think they all understand what a contract now means - a bargaining chip.

I’d love florent he’s a quality small defender and very versatile but cost and need don’t match up imo.

He is a similar level of solid contributor. Neither are stars but provide a team first role. I think if you got for pocket change he might be a good Ross Lyon contributor. I guess we free up Hall with him.

I used wrapped instead of rapt talking about Misson (Mission wraps) the other day in a group chat, over all but one of their heads 😔

To be fair they must have assumed that you were an idiot. We easterners didn’t even know that WA had discovered Mexicans yet.

Clubs are well within their rights it’s just rubbish to suggest otherwise imo.

How is GC any different bringing in Petracca and saying no to trading a contracted Humphreys. It’s the clubs job to try and improve the list whilst managing the salary cap. If every time you do so contracted players say well I want out because player X may take my favoured position or require me to lift my output then shut the doors.

We are well within our rights to hold Marshall to his contract and he should be prepared to turn up fit and ready to play any role the team requires of him. The long contracts protect player and club, it’s not a one way street and Marshall could have easily said no I want two years.

I don’t think Marshall would have any problem at all playing for us again next year.

Hopefully they get Gubby in front of the camera a few more times in the next 10 days. Absolute gold. Pretty comfortable with pick 7 for Ned in this draft. Looking forward to seeing who the surprises might be.

Anyway, the missus has already had enough my trade talk, promised I'd watch a movie with her tonight.

Who will our back pocket be next year? Jimmy was fantastic and quick enough to play on the likes of papley, Charlie Cameron, etc. Hastie would be ideal, shows grit and pace but club don't seem to absolutely love him yet. Stocker is probably too slow to play on the quickest small forwards. Relying on Voss coming in is risky. Have thought tauru is an option, super quick. But would limit his ability to fly as he would have to stay down most times, and may be bad for his development.

Always liked Florent, this year is the year to get him with his inability to get game time under Cox. I reckon he'd be more than handy on a wing.

Doubtful we'd be looking at him, is a known quantity that doesn't really improve us a huge amount over what we have developing.

Well yeah but doesn't mean you pay above market value

If we genuinely think he's worth pick 7 then sure

But I haven't seen anyone rate him close to that - surely we'd be able to get more in return if we really pushed for it even if its just a pick to get Aleer done

I do

Mystery mid behind which door?

Let’s go! 🍿
