How am I being selfish; for wanting the best for the Lions. Thought anyone on this board would too. Clearly not. Most seem to want players just making bank over the greater good of the Lions. Christ, Ambroggio even said Ah Chee was provided with a significant offer. So what exactly am I being entitled about; valuing loyalty over money? Enlighten me.
Many footballers will have no significant career after footy. Looking to cash in on their best income earning opportunity, especially if they have financial obligations to others, is not something that should be characterised as valuing money over loyalty. It is a simplistic approach to a multifaceted issue. You aren't selfish, just not very empathic.

Sorry. I’m a bit annoyed that WCE will not cough up for Dev. He will be in their starting 22 next year. Something like a future 3 round swap would have been fair.

Despite the angst amongst some BF posters, I'm confident both list management teams were working well together with all aspects of our trades for this year to generate a win win scenario.

Whatever mechanism is involved to get Dev to West Coast we will have ticked it off.

I highly doubt at any stage were there threats to bid on Annable at 1 or 2. Nor do I think at any stage there were threats to sabotage the offer to OA resulting in a lower band compensation. This is all BF rubbish, spouted by nuffies.

Clubs that behave that way only hurt their own trades in the years that follow. Not much of that amateur crap goes on anymore.

I think lol.

Now it is Ah-Chee's turn

It won't be as simple as this but:
Pick 23 for 16 = pick 38 points wise, then work from there
Possibly some future picks involved
Of course it could be way more complicated to keep the AFL happy and add some drama

The Lions would then have picks 16 + 17 that's enough to get Annable at pick 4.

I think Adelaide forking out enough points equal to around pick 20 will get it done
Lots of posters on here will want more, but that's where i see it ending up.
If we get more that's great. Just have to see how things unfold

Any chance Brisbane are interested in Wayde Derksen as a cheap depth option? Sounds like GWS aren’t looking at offering a contract to him until after the trade and draft period, due to acquiring Laverde.

Know nothing about him as a player, outside being talked about in the past two trade periods and being stuck behind GWS’ stacked defensive unit.

Inside Trading:
MEGA TRADE OPENS UP AH CHEE OPTIONS
THE MEGA trade that took Brandon Starcevich to West Coast on Wednesday morning could open more options for the Cal Ah Chee deal to Adelaide.
Brisbane's return for Starcevich will likely ensure the club has enough points to match an early bid on Academy gun Dan Annable, meaning the Lions won't need to ask solely for 2025 picks in any talks with the Crows over Ah Chee.
There had been a thought that Brisbane would be chasing picks in this year's draft in the Ah Chee negotiations to help cover an Annable bid. But the return for Starcevich will mean that won't be the case and future picks could also be involved.
The Lions received picks No.17, 23, 45 and 51 as part of their haul for Starcevich – adding to the No.44, 56, 68 and 79 selections they already possessed – putting the reigning premiers in a strong position to match an early bid on Annable.
The two sides are set to be at loggerheads over Ah Chee's value across the Trade Period, with Adelaide list boss Justin Reid saying on Monday that its first-round pick (Pick 16) was off the table in negotiations. – Riley Beveridge

Does that mean that Annable costs us Starcevich, Ah-chee and our original pick 19?

Getting Annabel will sort of cost the Lions what you indicated.
If both stayed, we would be sitting on 1156 points including pick 19 to get Annable. So not enough points.

But we also got Draper and Allen without losing a trade (so, for no points).

A better way to look at it - We got Draper and Allen in exchange for Ah-Chee & Starcevich
Draper and Allen are costing the Lions more in player cap space compared to the two leaving
We indirectly get a top 5 draft pick Annable for pick 19

Annable will be on a set low contract for a few years.
That helps offset the difference in cap space (Draper + Allen less what we paid Starcevich & Ah-Chee)
Or Annable low contract + Starcevich & Ah-Chee old contract amount, compared to the new Draper + Allen contract.
What the difference is i have no idea. But it will be more.

To claw some money back the Lions will also make cap space room by losing or delisting players like Dev who would be on more money than a draftee coming in.

Irrespective of Annable coming in. Starcevich & Ah-Chee were already leaving.

We're just very lucky, as we have been for the last few seasons we get access to top 5 / top 10 draft talent without being in the bottom 5 / bottom 10 teams.

The glass is more than half full.

He wanted to go back West so even if we matched he wasn't staying.
😂 A competitive beast like Starc who whacks the chair after his opponent scores on him wants to go back West and play for a team who won one game. It would absolutely be gut wrenching for Starc leaving the Lions and going to WC to lose every week.

Yep. I'm really surprised he's leaving now.

That must have been some offer /conditions /whatever.

So we sort ah chee as next cab off the rank hopefully get a great pick , is that enough ? Any more player deals in the tube or are we done ? Perhaps some pick upgrades ?

I'm excited to see Morris goes with Allen next to him. He'll get less defensive attention than he got this year, and he can be an excellent field kick so I expect we'll see the Morris to Allen connection more than a few times next year.
This is correct, the flow on affect. Both this year have taken the best opposition sides defender. Even if their best still go to Morris then the 2nd goes to Allend the third to Gallop. There is a flow on because of brining in someone like Allen.

Alex Witherden was the starting point of us snagging Allen lol
