Not a clue.

I can only reference Mitch Cleary saying we would want a top 12 or 15 pick.
Their first rounder is currently pick 15 (prior to bids etc)

I imagine that’s the goal, depending on how highly Geelong value him.

I would hate to see Big Ro leave, but if we land TDK, I think it's the best option for him and the club.

I don't see him having the speed or agility to play forward at this stage of his career.

Sidenote.

Billings comes off our cap this year.

I’d love to try get a first and second for Roma and use our cap space to pay a few 100k of his contract in 26’ & 27’

Geelong and I’m confident that’s where he goes if he does leave.

But Adelaide Brisbane & GWS will surely all be asking the question.
GWS i sort of get.

Why would Adelaide and Brisbane ask? Both have ruckman of a similar age who are really as good if not better?

If youre putting them in there then Collingwood would too.

The only way a first is involved would be as a swap for our second... and we dont have a second this year.

Its worth doing the excercise of doing a fully fit best 23 based on TDK coming.

Do that and tell me where Roma plays cause i cant find a spot for him (noting i reckon if we want a fwd/back up ruck Keeler is a better option especially if King and Sharman are playing and hes getting a second or even third tall defender) and the knock on Roma is hes not a good RUCKMAN and Keeler looks a much more natural forward (Keeler has a 3 goal game in 10 total games, Roma has 2 in 150 games.

If Roma is a 2s player, does he want to stay? If he does does it make sense for us to pay him $800k or whatever to be playing twos?

I stand by that if Roma wants to stay then absolutely retain him, if he wants out we should do that.
Keeler over Roma? That has to be a joke. Keeler just got dropped for max heath and struggles to touch the footy

No because that position isnt playing ruck because TDK is.

As a forward Keeler looks much better and more natural and then chips in for 20% of ruck work (against a second ruck anyway).

Keeler is a better looking forward than Roma.

I just did the same essentially picking the favourites and have us 14th.

Carlton v Essendon, Us v Essendon and Carlton v Port seem the critical games in there.
i did same,we are relying on carlton beating essendon to go above us in the last game, thats with us losing to melbourne(geelong and gws)beating richmond essendon north, even then it has just 1% between us and blues, though i didnt do winning margins,we need to throw the north game

McInerney is retiring due to a back injury - apparently.

Crows wanted Draper. Don’t rate O’Brien

Won't take a lot to change for Keeler and Sharman to struggle for a spot in the best 23.

TDK ruck

Howard, Wilkie and Aleer defence

King, Caminiti and Owens fwd

Jay Clark’s timeline of 10-14 days of NAS hasn’t re-signed comment - day 10 is tomorrow.

On first crack, gave the above timeline IF NAS hasn’t re-signed before the above mentioned timeline, he think NAS is gone.
Definitely getting Battle vibes now. Club trying to delay making a bad news announcement before year end. Maybe already in talks with Port or Crows about how a trade can be arranged. Will set our plans back a fair way.

I would say that making a ruck the highest paid player in the league is much more likely to blow up the salary cap than front ending the contracts of a few young players who have shown a lot.
Good point but unfortunately common sense isn't common enough around here.

People are too busy frothing at the mouth at the thought a decent player might finally choose Moorabbin, and aren't considering the long term impact on the salary cap.

Even if TDK's paid $2.5mil a year for the next 2 years due to current front loading and bring forward room, it's still $1.4mil+ a year over the subsequent 5 years.

And what happens if NWM, Hall, Tauru, Phillipou and Garcia become the players we hope they will? Or even 2 or 3 of them?

Added to King, and it's a lot of big contracts.

And we've got Heath, Dodson and Keeler upcoming anyway, why spend that much on a ruck without other strings to his bow?

Max Heath looked solid for a first gamer on Sunday.

People keep raving about Dodson.

Keeler could become a 2nd option to pinch-hit while the main ruck rests.

So why make TDK the highest paid player in the AFL when we have promising young rucks already?

We might have to trade Heath or Dodson for a 2nd round pick in 1 or 2 years time when they want out.

You'd think St Kilda would learn lessons from recent history, with McEvoy and Stanley playing 150+ games and winning a flag with their next club, and Hickey almost winning one.

The club wants its big fish, and there is money to be spent.

Like I don't mean this in a bad way, but aren't the Swans reserves even more tragic than Sandy are?

Dodson looks the goods but need that body of work before I'd be confident throwing him into the regular AFL ruckman bucket.
Played against an AFL ruckman on the weekend. Ladhams was getting a game in front of Grundy early in the year.

Interesting to see the HS survey of player agents. 5 out of the 17 surveyed said we were the hardest club to deal with. Next most was Port with 3. No wonder this Nas thing isn't getting done
This information is surprising and possibly a bit concerning. We've been trying to land a big fish for what seems like an eternity, yet we're the hardest (translation - the most painful) to deal with.

TDK has played a lot of very good games at senior AFL level, but Dodson has played one standout game in the VFL, against ordinary opposition and few OK games otherwise. Heath did a reasonable job first up, but until we see Dodson in a senior game, then we have to keep our options open for rucks.
