There's no reason in the world for him to sign more than a 2 year deal.

The club has shown him a good short term future, locking players down for 8 years is just plain stupid as we showed with King.

Show him the money, get him to sign a two year deal on huge coin.
You understand that he has a near 10 year offer on the table with Adelaide and port has 6+.

But stupid hey?!?

How about they do a 2 year extention with the option for 8 more after that?

Not like we are reinventing the wheel, been done before with other players.
I still think he signs for 4.

Gawn is one of the top ruckman in the competition.... Fact

Marshall has never matched up well against Gawn.... Fact

We won the game ... Fact

As I said, if TDK comes then I want Marshall to stay and have a role in the club.

We have a litany of players which we have offloaded because we thought the grass was greener on the other side. I see Stanley is still playing a role with a strong Geelong, how are those picks we got for a so called non ruckman by many posters on here. He is 34.... I would put money on Marshall still playing AFL at 34.

The idea to offload good players for draft picks is laughable and rarely comes to fruition for us.
Lol you're talking about completely different things now.

I was disagreeing with your argument that Marshall's kick makes him indispensable lol. And I'll say it again, it's a laughable sweeping statement.

Nice of you to state the bolded things above. You are a real Sherlock :tearsofjoy: . No one is disputing any of that.

But you can't even backup what you're arguing, let along predict the 'trajectory' of the St Kilda Football Club.

Just because something has happened before doesn't mean it will happen again.

As I said, I want Marshall to stay but your heart and soul argument, plus your Stanley comparison, plus your money on Marshall playing until 34 is just you randomly bashing a keyboard with drool coming out of your mouth 🤤.

You're living in an alternate reality if you think any of what you said is a consideration regarding Marshall's future going forwards.

It's a simple equation.

If he wants to leave (like was rumoured in the past), we get the best deal for the club.

If he wants to stay, then the club assesses two things. Can he play with TDK (assuming TDK is coming) and is his form projected to be good enough in the coming years?

If the answer is yes, play on is the call. If the answer is no to either question, then you consider a trade.

None of this 'Rowan Marshall's sh*t is coloured red, black and white', 'his kick has changed the club', 'we might get something shit for him', 'I bet he will play until 34' absolute delusion.

Maybe that is the case mate. No body knows.

It was purely a hypothetical scenario.

Thats because they have to wrench him away from us. In this situation we have the upper hand (just).

Everyone knows his situation with his family, big money on a short term is a better pill to take. Putting off a decision is a much easier decision when there is a lot of money on the table.

Pretty sure I’ve been very big on Jay Clark knowing things for some time.

And the 4 years. The rumour I literally said I asked about and was told they are hearing the same thing?

The one I said, that I was told it’s not imminent like everyone was giddy about?

That one?

You are the biggest hero on here. You know for a fact I’ve only genuinely shared stuff - accurate stuff. Stuff that you then reach out to me privately about and you are trying to call me out.

I mean, why would you reach out to someone if they talk shit? 😂

So one minute we have the upper hand and next we don’t.

And sorry, if the best is that we are just putting off a decision of nas leaving. It’s not a great outcome for me.

This is where one of those Gringo euphemisms about your wife staying with you because you have more money but she is desperate to root the next door neighbour sounds accurate.

I’m talking about this hypothetical Offer scenario sully.

So I’ll explain - even though I’m sure you were involved.

This hypothetical has come off the back of this front loaded offer from SA last week. No matter that the money we are supposedly offering (1.4m) is equivalent to the actual deal, it’s all about that $2m.

If nas will sign for 5 or 10 years and he wants $2m. Go for it.

But I don’t see the value in saying, here is $2m and thank you for only considering 2 more years at the stkilda fc.

You are getting paid $1.4m over the life of that deal you can get that for your 2 years here or COMMIT TO US,build something here and he can get paid whatever the hell he wants.

If hypothetically he only signed for 2 years and left. We are not any closer to a flag than we are today. Infact we have lost 2 years of time in whatever we get back in return.

My issue isn’t this TDK level money. It’s that he is making a commitment for the long term to us for that money.

That should be our expectations yet people say - PAY HIM MORE.
Thank god you have nothing to do with our list management.

If he only plays for 2 more years we are a much better side for those 2 years, this gives us a much better chance of landing more talent, more members, better TV slots, bigger sponsors etc etc

We have money to burn, he is the best player in the comp and as you have been saying for months sign him for 2 years and back ourselves to be playing finals by 2027.

Closing the door on him because it's not a long enough contract would be just plain ****ing stupid.

We all want Nas to sign for as long as possible. That's a given.

Again, you have said multiple times he may well just sign for 2 years and then it's up to us as a club to improve. Multiple times.

Now you seem to be saying if it's just 2 years, what's the point.... we won't win a flag in that time... he'll definitely leave after that time etc. You've contradicted yourself and it doesn't make any sense.
Are you suggesting that Stav is changing his story?

How dare you.

Mate I have a direct relative who played with the club, had massive offers from other clubs (I've read the letters) and turned them down to play with his mates and stay with St Kilda.

If I'm banging on the keyboard its because I have seen it first hand. LOLZ to your sweeping statements

May 15th 2015.

I’m not posting the contents. Wouldn’t do that to you.

But you were asking if maybe I knew more.

You'd think if Nas hadn't made a firm decision before yesterday then his game (and manager) will just drag this out like the bongos, for longer.
