Gray well deserved, but apart from maybe Boak (longevity, consistency, ex captain etc) there should be absolutely noone from our post-2004 flag group going in. In the absence of flags, it needs to be absolute and sustained personal brilliance.

As much as we hold this club to a high standard as die hard supporters, we need to recognize the things that it does well and take the time to appreciate that we have a club where a bloke like Alfie can sit alongside the absolute greats of the game. THAT culture and THAT club history is the reason people here have come to expect better and are so loathe to loose it.

Poor Chris Natt had to play full back in the 1972 GF after Ray Hayes was suspended and Dennis Sachse kicked 7 goals on him in the big game. Then Davies took him to the cleaners in 1976 and then he missed the 1979 grand final through suspension.

He must have wept tears of joy playing out the premiership winning 1980 grand final (half of that at full forward after Tim Evans broke his thumb).

I remember late into the last quarter of the 1980 Grand Final he took a strong mark 30 metres out and held the ball up in the air for about 10 seconds it was pure joy. Unfortunately he missed the shot would have loved him to kick it after 76 and 79.

Just from memory I don’t think he played many games for them but he still went there!!

Woitey went to Glenelg in 1979, played 20 games over 79-80. His knees were shot by then and he was topping up the super at Glenelg's expense. He once talked about Bob McLean using the Russell Ebert payment scale to limit his contract payments.
